Johnnie Bingham, Walter Bean, Jimmie Nance, Carl Graham, and others, but this year’s team looms as a potent possibility… A family reunion was held Friday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. MB Self. Enjoying the evening were Mr. and Mrs. WT Masey and George of Pensacola, Florida; Mr. and Mrs. JL Self and Joni Faye of Silverton; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy McGowen of Plain-view; Cpl. Billy Self, who has just returned from Guam and is now stationed in Cali-fornia; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Cowan of Silverton, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. MB Self and Zobie…
This week in 1950… The Silverton Owl baseball team opened its season Tuesday at Floydada. A bright spot of the afternoon was the manner in which Donald Bean held down the third base position, a spot vacated by big brother, Walter. Little dynamite John Francis did a com-mendable job at short stop as did Wayne McMurtry at second base. Robert McPherson will be out for a few weeks because of a sprained ankle. However, Dean McWilliams looked as if he wants that position for himself. The team lost some good boys last year:

Three of the quilters worked hard Thursday and got a lot done. Rose Mary Perkins, Bobbye Bean and Wanda Strange sewed and had a lot of fun visiting and getting out of the house.
The quilt that we will sell chances on, is on display at the bank in Silverton. Be sure and go by and see it and buy some tickets. The money will go to help the senior citizens pay for needed repairs.
We were so sad to lose two more of our people who grew up here. Mike Baird of El Paso passed away and still has relatives here that we send sym-pathy to. We also lost Hazel (McGavock) McDaniels of Amarillo. Both of them have family buried in the Silverton Cemetery and have friends who knew and remembered them and their families.
I am old and afraid of the virus, and I hope ev-eryone will be careful. So many are not afraid and still go and do what they want and do not take precautions. Please, please be careful for yourself and others.
I am also afraid for our country. God gave us the most beautiful and wonderful country in the world, and so many thousands have died to keep our country, and we must not forget our history and keep our country safe and free. We must love our land and respect our country and the flag and what it stands for. God bless America!
Just heard—Rose Mary Perkins had to have hip surgery again Wednesday in Amarillo.
