4-H Summer Day Camps focus Coming up >>> Newsletter & Information 4-H July, 2014 Due to the expense of stamps cost- ing around $777.00 a year to mail the newsletter we have turned to e-mails. The problem seems to be that they are not opened and when they are information is not saved. Please tell your4-H friends to read their e-mails and take the time to mark activities on their calendars so they have a hard copy of what is taking place each month. We are excited to announce three 4-H Summer Day Camps that are planned for July. They are as follows: July 7 th - Hobbs State Parkleaving the office at 8:00 a.m. July 15 th - Ozark Nature Science Centerleaving the office at 8:00 a.m. There is a $40.00 fee per child attending. Carroll County 4- H will pay for each member going. July 28 th - War Eagleleaving the office at 8:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend with their child and lunch will be pro- vided for participants at all camps. Drivers are needed and will be reimbursed for gas-please see Sherry for more information.

We are excited to announce three 4-H Summer Day Camps that are

DISTRICT 4-H O’RAMA

Quorum Court Appreciation Carroll County Quorum Court members appreciated the cook-

ies 4-H provided for them on June 20th. We would like to thank

Nathan E., Madison and Makayla M., and Kaitlyn, Jesse &

Dalton W. (not pictured) for helping with baking and deliver-

ing cookies.

Carroll County had five 4-H members representing at District O’Rama this

year. Front L-R: Nathan E. & Jesse W.; Back L-R: Georgia Belle P., Kaitlyn

W. & Ashleigh M.

Georgia Belle P. received a trophy for her Intermediate Record Book.

Jesse W. won 5th place for his Performing Arts Instrumental piece.

Georgia Belle P. also won 4th place for Wildlife.

And, Nathan E. won 5th place for Public Speaking.

Community Service for the Fair Board June 5th Horse stall were cleaned in preparation for Horseman United. We would like to thank Lisa Patterson,

Duncan P., and Georgia Belle P. all from North Polo Pioneers, and Verna Blankenship and Dylan B. from Teen

Leadership for their help with this service project.

All meetings and activities announced in this newsletter are open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 19 without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, disability, or any other legally protected status. Persons with disabilities who require alterna-tive means for communication of program information (large print, audiotapes, etc.) should notify the county Extension office (or other appropriate office) as soon as possible prior to the activity.

What’s Happening in our local 4-H Clubs?

Horse Showmanship Clinic

July 12th @ 10 a.m.

@ County Fairgrounds

Sponsored by:

Carroll County 4-H

and

Carroll County Fair

This clinic is to help new-

bies get a feel for what the

actual events are like and

help them be more pre-

pared. So bring your horse

and proof of coggins.

NEW CLUB!! A photography club is going to be offered starting in September.

This club will meet six times a year; it will have guest speakers and

photo assignments. Hopefully by fair time next year, every member

will have a photo to enter in each category of the photo department.

This club is for members 9 years old and up. Call if you are inter-

ested in joining.

Poul t ry Chain July 9th and 10th we will be coming to vaccinate your chickens.

They MUST be caged or they will not get vaccinated. We are taking

two days to do this; you will receive a letter telling you which day we

will be at your place. Sorry, we cannot give you a time.

Communi ty Club Community Club has been moved from the second Monday to

Thursday, July 17th. This will be an evening with John Two Hawks.

He will be speaking on the American Indian culture and their music.

John travels all over the world giving performances.
