Board CornerWelcome to Crystal Valley Ranch
On behalf of the entire board here at Crystal Valley Ranch
(CVR), we would like to welcome new residents to our growing
community! While you are waiting for your welcome packet to
arrive, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with
a few resources to help you get settled in.
Our community clubhouse, The Pinnacle, is located at 2160
Fox Haven Dr., and is managed by the YMCA. There, you will
find an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and (rentable)
community room and outdoor space at our newly opened
Pinnacle Park, where we host several events each month.
To use these amenities, you will need an access card, which
you can register for in-person with a copy of your closing
paperwork and photo ID. You will find hours and contact
information for The Pinnacle on the last page of this
1
newsletter, and on our Facebook page. To stay up-to-date on things happening at The Pinnacle,
please like and follow us on Facebook at The Pinnacle at Crystal Valley Ranch.
Just a reminder that all changes to the exterior of your home/lawn must be pre-approved by the
Design Review Committee (DRC). Please review the Design Review Guidelines on our website,
CVRmasterHOA.com, before submitting your application and ensure you complete all steps of the
application for faster turnaround. The DRC has up to 45 days to respond, so please keep this in mind
during your planning and give yourself enough time to submit your application.

This Month at The PinnacleHomeowner's Association (HOA) Meeting MOVED
This month's HOA meeting has been moved to
Wednesday, June 13 at 6pm.
Ingredients: 1 cup of water 1 to 2 cups of cornstarch Mixing bowl Food coloring (optional)
Directions: First, pour cornstarch into mixing bowl, and dip your hands into it. Notice how smooth the powder is!
If you want to change the color, add a few drops of food coloring into the water before you mix it in. Once you have the color the way you want it, slowly add it in until the mixture becomes thick (it will feel hard when you tap on it). Add more cornstarch if it gets too runny, and more water if it is too thin.
Pinnacle Pool Grand Opening BBQ
The pool will be open starting May 26, but our
official party takes place Jun. 2. Mark your
calendars and join us for a pool opening BBQ, 11-1!
Pinnacle Park Event, June 30 from 10-2
Rescheduled from May 19, this party will be one for
the books! Join us for lawn games, swimming,
bounce houses, a raffle, music, and FREE food!
Community Yard Sale, June 8-9
Looking for an excuse to get after that Spring
Cleaning? The community yard sale is taking place
Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9, from
8am - 3pm both days. We will advertise around
town and put up signage to direct people to each of
the districts within our community.
Outdoor Movie, June 16, 8pm
What's more fun than a movie and popcorn? A movie
and popcorn on a blanket in the park!!! Pack up your
blanket or lawn chairs, and join us for our first of two
outdoor movies this summer at Pinnacle Park! Movies
are better in the dark, so we will start around 8pm.
Though it is non-toxic, please use caution when playing with Oobleck. Make sure it doesn't get in your eyes, and wash your hands after playing with it.
Why it's so cool: Oobleck is a unique mixture that is both a liquid and a solid at the exact same time! Try these moves to test it out and see for yourselves how your interactions with it determine whether it acts as a liquid, or as a solid. - Touch it quickly with your finger, a spoon, or your hand to feel the hard surface. Then, rest your finger, a spoon, or your hand on the surface and watch it sink! - Take a handful in your open hand, and see what happens! Next, squeeze your hand into a fist and notice the difference.

Neighborhood News
Black bears frequently pass through Castle Rock;
they are opportunistic eaters, so keep your trash
cans inside until it's time to put them on the curb,
and keep your outdoors grills clean.
Mountain lions have a vast range, which sometimes
includes our neighborhood. They stealthily hunt at
night, frequently for deer, but will also consume
dogs and cats.
Many other species of
animals, insects,
reptiles, amphibians,
and birds make
themselves at home in
CVR. For more

Please Pickup After Your Pet
Whether you're out walking in your neighborhood or
enjoying the outdoor facilities at Pinnacle Park,
please remember to bring some baggies and pick up
after your pets.
Wildlife, Our Fascinating Neighbors
Here in Crystal Valley Ranch, we are blessed to share
our neighborhood with numerous species of wildlife.
Living respectfully with them assures we will
continue to have many delightful opportunities to
observe and enjoy their presence, while also
maintaining our safety and that of our pets. There
are just a few animals that need particular
consideration: rattlesnakes, coyotes, black bears,
and mountain lions.
Rattlesnakes are the
only venomous type
of snake found in
Colorado and,
fortunately, they have
a built-in warning
system -- their rattle --
to give us a signal if
we come too close. Wear long pants and sturdy
boots with a high shaft when hiking or doing yard
work. Don't put your hands into places into which
you can't see, such as rock or brush piles. Stay on
trail since snakes are well camouflaged in grasses
and rocks.
Coyotes are typically shy of humans, but can pose a
threat to small pets. If you see a coyote, they are
usually easily frightened away by loud noise.

Did You Know?Castle Rock was named for the prominent rock formation that overlooks the city, but what
put us on the map was the discovery of rhyolite stone in the butte near Plum Creek. Rhyolite
is a igneous, volcanic rock that can have a number of different appearances depending on
how it erupts, but it is always incredibly unique and beautiful.
