The Digital Media City Tower is a slender tower with residenal occupancies in the upper poron of the building. Acceleraons due to
the moon of the building structure in the wind must be controlled to acceptable levels.
To control the acceleraon due to vortex shedding, the tower is designed with a varying profile which disturbs the formaon of
uniform vorces.
The structure for the 640m tall Digital M edia City Tower is
conceived as a highly efficient, easily constructed, repeve, and
robust combinaon of a rigid central coreand perimeter megacolumns.
The lateral wind load resisng system is comprised of interior
reinforced concrete core walls coupled with reinforced concrete
outrigger walls spanning between the coreand four megacolumns
on each of the broad faces of the towerand two megacolumns
on the narrow faces.
The outrigger walls are strategically located at each of the twostory
mechanical floors and link the core to th eexterior megacolumnsin order to bring addional gravity loadsto the perimeter
while resisng upli wind forces
