WORKING OF AN D/SLR CAMERA

FUNCTIONING OF AN D/SLR CAMERA

Light rays from the subject enter through the lens of the camera and the aperture.

It hits the mirror in the camera body which is pivoted at an angle of 45 degree just in front of the focal plane shutter.

The light rays passing through it are reflected above to the focusing screen. The focused image on this screen is seen again passed through a prism placed

at the top. The prism is called ‘Penta Prism’ since it has 5 sides and it turns the light rays

to 90 degree. The light rays take an internal reflection to the viewfinder without reversing the image.

When the shutter is released, the deviating mirror is automatically swung up above and the focal plane shutter mounted directly in front of the film, momentarily exposes the film/Sensor

FUNCTIONING OF A DIGITAL SENSOR Lights are focussed on to an array

of Charge-Coupled device(CCD) or Complementary Metal Oxide Silicon (CMOS) unit

These diodes produce electric impulses based on the light intensity which hits them

Transistors are responsible for these electrical signals

Analog-to-digital converter, or an ADC translates the signal into digital information.

The digital information is sent to a digital signal processor, or DSP, which then turns the information into photographic images.

INTRODUCTION TO APERTURE

An adjustable hole that limits the amount of light passing through a camera.

INTRODUCTION TO SHUTTER

A shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film or a light-sensitive electronic sensor to light to capture a permanent image of a scene

You are the camera, your eyes are the shutters. What you absorb through them is what you paint and it's you that is mixing the colours,

not the camera. Thank you
