RELEASE OVERVIEWWith the 3DEXPERIENCE R2015x release, it is easier than ever before to expand the ENOVIA implementation to new functional roles in the company while enriching the user experience for designers and engineers. This release continues to further simplify how companies can license ENOVIA solutions both on-premises or via a public or private cloud subscription model. Lastly, the user experience continues to be optimized for mobile devices by incorporating larger icons and touch zones.

SIMPLIFIED LICENSINGStarting with the R2014x release, many separate licenses were consolidated into a single license for easier administration and simpler pricing. This goal has been further accomplished in R2015x. In addition, the naming approach for all Dassault Systèmes licenses has been changed to reflect the user role that is intended to use the software. For instance, licenses for planning a product release and engineering BOM-management are now called Product Manager and Product Engineer respectively. These are just 2 of the nearly 50 roles that are currently offered spanning numerous product development processes across the 12 industries that ENOVIA supports. In some cases, capabilities that are more advanced or less-widely used are licensed separately as optional software for the role. If an individual has been licensed software for multiple roles, the user interface allows them to easily select the role that they are currently serving to access all of the appropriate applications.

NEW ENOVIA OFFERINGS

Program Cost ManagerProgram Cost Manager enables the collection, analysis, and collaboration of contract-based program, project costs and schedules. It manages high-risk, high-cost, or long-lead projects better through industry-standard guidelines (EIA-748). This standard is required in government contracting and is the accepted standard in the Aerospace & Defense, Energy, Architecture & Construction, and Marine & Offshore industries.

Product Manager and Product ArchitectThe new Product Manager and Product Architect offerings simplify how customers can use ENOVIA to plan a product release. Both Product Manager and Product Architect combine capabilities to capture market and technology requirements and then decide how to best satisfy the requirements with standard product features. While both offerings are very similar, Product Manager is intended more for non-technical users responsible for articulating and planning the company’s product objectives and strategy. Product Architect provides additional capabilities to validate that the proposed product architecture and ensuing design and engineering can meet the established product objectives and strategy.

New Converters for 3DEXPERIENCE Design and Engineering ApplicationsAdditional converters now exist for users to reuse or migrate application data to the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform for use with Collaborative Innovation and 3DEXPERIENCE design and engineering applications. Converter for AutoCAD and Converter for ICEM Surf can respectively import AutoCAD and ICEM Surf exact geometry as a tessellated representation so it can be leveraged in downstream processes, such as design review, digital mockup review, design in context, and manufacturing. Converter for IFC imports and exports IFC-compliant application data for the sharing, migration, and exchange of Building Information Modelling (BIM) data. The IFC object-oriented data model is an open, international, standardized specification for exchanging and sharing construction, building, and engineering data used in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry.

SIGNIFICANT FUNCTIONAL ENHANCEMENTSThe 3DEXPERIENCE R2015x release of ENOVIA has hundreds of new functional enhancements. Some of the more significant improvements are mentioned below.

Single Sign-on and Social CollaborationWhen the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is deployed on-premises, ENOVIA customers can now benefit from the 3DPassport to manage single sign-on and 3DSwym for social collaboration. Previously, these capabilities were only available with the Cloud offering.

New Product ConfiguratorThe new “3DConfigurator” is available with Product Manager and Product Architect and if the Configured BOM Management option is licensed for Product Engineer (formerly Engineering BOM Management in R2014x). The product configurator enables users to quickly select options while its new configuration solver evaluates all the compatibility and preference rules defined for the product. The result is only valid combination of options are quickly available for the user to select from. The user experience grays-out invalid options and automatically selects other dependencies providing a consistent result independent of selection sequence.

Conflict Mineral DeclarationsMaterials Compliance Manager (formerly Materials Compliance Management in R2014x) can now be used to initiate and send conflict mineral declaration requests with due dates and reporting instructions to suppliers. Received conflict mineral declarations can then be imported. The validity and completeness of the declaration is immediately assessed for follow-up action. Reports are available to assess the overall status of conflict mineral reporting as well as automatically generate a rolled up list of smelters referenced by their supplier conflict mineral declarations. Suppliers are notified automatically whenever a conflict mineral declaration requires their attention.

Graphical EBOM NavigationProduct Engineer introduces a new graphical structure browser for a more intuitive and visual representation of the product. Users can easily collapse or expand the EBOM structure and use common controls to pan and zoom in to areas of interest.

Simplified Program Management User Experience and DashboardsProject Manager and Project Team Member (formerly Deliverables-based Project Management and Deliverables-based Project Sharing in R2014x) have simplified their user experiences with further adoption of rich-client like commands in its Web browser interface. Users can now assign and complete tasks within a single screen with simple pulldown menus and slider controls that avoid unnecessary steps. As an alternative, project tasks can also be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook for users to make updates directly from its user interface. As work is completed for the project, documents can be easily dragged and dropped to the project folders. Lastly, there are also new and improved dashboards to assist management decision-making. Dashboards exist for tracking project progress, deliverables, task completion, and budget evolution.

Deeper Regulatory SupportRegulatory Affairs Manager (formerly Global Market Registration in R2014x) now provides worldwide regulatory documentation submission via a single process. It supports multiple countries with new submission templates for different regulatory agencies based on user responses. Quality Manager (formerly Quality Management in R2014x) delivers the full-breadth of CAPA and audit processes with full traceability to impacted product data to improve risk assessment and root cause analysis. Finally, Quality Document Manager (formerly Quality-based Document Control in R2014x) has new capabilities to schedule and manage the required training for standard operating procedures.

Automated Planogram Generation and Distribution3D Merchandiser greatly improves its generation of retail space planograms with automation rules that can be specific to specific stores or assortments. One the planograms are reviewed and approved, they can also be automatically distributed to the hundreds to tens of thousands of stores in the retailer’s network. Store workers can easily review the latest planogram information from a mobile device.
