Two year olds

Weaned late September. These bulls were grown on hay and minimal grain after weaning therefore year-ling weights are lower. Turned out on grass till mid November. In the fall bulls were given fusaguard along with other shots and ivomec. Since then they have been fed silage, free choice of hay and 7 lbs. of a bull developer ration. The bulls will be coming home with delivery discussed shortly after unless you brought your trailer and are taking them with you. It is highly recommended that you insure your bulls before leaving today as a precaution if they are coming back to their own environment.

Thinking back to this past year on the beef business, I decided it was a pretty “normal” year. Normal in the way that it was full of surprises once again. With the cattle prices staying firm, and keeping an eye on the feed inputs, there is money still to be made in this business. This fall, when watching and participat-ing in selling calves, it was very obvious that quality paid big dividends. We all want to sell a quality product, and in order for that to happen we need to buy the best genetics we can find. With years of record keeping and useful tools, such as EPD’s, it is easier to find the “real” good ones.

Since we run mostly commercial cattle, the two year old bull program fits our operation best. We sell only two year olds, (we will only sell a yearling if one of our customers are in a bind). The bulls are not pushed the first winter, and are turned out on grass for the summer. They are brought back in the first of November to be gently fed for the sale. Terms The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable in Canadian Funds at par in Pincher Creek, AB. unless satis-factory arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until full settlement is made. All settlement must be made with Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange before any cattle will be released.

Disputes In case of disputes, bidding will be re-opened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer decision will be final.

Purchaser’s risk Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as the auctioneer has said sold.

Announcements All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Accidents Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of the buyers and guests, neither the High Country bull sale consignors, Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange, or the Pincher Creek Ag. Society assumes responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

Breeder’s Guarantee All animals sold are guaranteed by the owner. Any animal that has not proven itself to be a breeder within six (6) months after the sale date, if in healthy condition may be returned to the seller at the buyers ex-pense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. The seller at their opinion, may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal quality in full settlement of the claims. All yearlings bulls are guaranteed breeders if not used on more than fifteen (15) head of fe-males and are at the full age of fourteen (14) months.

Bull Criteria All bulls presented for the sale have met or exceeded these minimum standards. Yearling: Charolais - 1200 lbs. as of sale day and have a scrotal measurement of 32 cm. Angus - 1100 lbs. as of sale day and have a scrotal measurement of 32 cm. Two year olds: Charolais - 1750 lbs. as of sale day, Angus 1650 lbs. as of sale day or an equiva-lent WDA of 2.3 lbs. All two year olds have a current satisfactory semen test. All semen tests and scrotal measurement have been done by a licensed Veterinarian.

Insurance Pincher Creek Agencies will be available to handle all your insurance requirements. We fill it is money well spent, protect your investment. If any bulls are going back to the sellers, insurance is mandatory.
