The Crown Trade Steracryl Anti Bacterial range of paints has been developed to assist in the � ght against bacteria. It has been proven to signi� cantly minimise the spread of disease and infection including antibiotic-resistant Super Bugs such as MRSA, Salmonella, E. Coli and others. However Steracryl Anti Bacterial products are NOT a replacement to normal hygiene and cleaning regimes.

The following tables show the average results for each test sample.The Scrub TestThe scrub resistance evaluates the resistance of the coating to repeated cleaning and is measured by the following method. A predetermined wet � lm thickness of the paint is applied to the test substrate and allowed to dry for 28 days.
The test panels are placed on the scrub testing machine and subjected to 200 / 40 scrub cycles (depending on paint type). After testing, the amount of paint which has been lost from the surface is calculated and expressed as a � lm thickness loss in micrometers. A Class 1 scrub rating indicates a loss of paint � lm of less than 5 microns after 200 scrubs.

Suitable for interior walls, ceilings and woodwork where a highly durable, washable, satin lustre � nish is required. Using SteriTouch® silver ion technology, it is ideal for use in areas subject to high condensation and steam. Its water-based, fast drying qualities are convenient for application in public and high traf� c areas.

Spores need 3 things to grow into mould:

Nutrients: Such as cellulose which can be found in most papers and paints.
Moisture: As found in areas of high condensation, e.g void properties.
Time: Mould growth begins between 24 hours and 10 days from the provision of the growing conditions.
In arti� cial environments, like buildings, humidity and temperature are often stable enough to foster the growth of mould colonies. Some mould can begin growing at temperatures as low as 2˚C and, if conditions are not suitable for growth, they can remain alive, in a dormant state within a large range of temperatures before they die. This explains how moulds survive harsh conditions such as containers in refrigerators or inside building structure cavities.
Testing for Mould Inhibition: Crown Trade Steracryl has a proven pedigree in the prevention of mould growth. Stringent testing by the PRA (The Paint Research Association) has been found it to be an effective mould inhibitor over long periods of time.
Fungal testing was carried out according to the British Standard test procedure BS3900: G6, in which the test paint � lms were inoculated with a spore suspension containing the following mixture of mould and yeast fungi.
The test panels and control panels were spray inoculated with the spore suspension and placed in fungal test cabinets as shown below. After 7 days of incubation, the panels were re-inoculated with the spore suspension and incubation was continued.

The photographs of the actual test panels clearly show the effectiveness of Crown Trade Steracryl as a mould inhibiting product when compared to a standard paint product.
What is mould? Moulds and fungi are found everywhere inside and outside. They can grow on almost any substance when moisture is present, such as empty premises and voids where condensation is prevalent. Moulds, when they produce, make spores which can be carried by air currents and when these land on a moist surface, suitable for life, they begin to grow.
