From the Desk of Father Bosco Dear Friends, Compassion is not learned without suffering. Unless we have suffered and wept, we really don’t understand what compassion is, nor can we comfort someone who is suffering. Unless we have walked in darkness, we can’t help wanderers to find their way. But if we have suffered we become pathfinders for others. And it is by reaching out to others that we ourselves are healed. Jesus bore

the marks of our violent world on his body. Those wounds were the proof of his love. They were the mortal wounds the Good Shepherd picked up in caring for his sheep. The wounds of Jesus are a source of consolation, courage, and hope to us in our sufferings. By his wounds we are healed. May the Risen Lord continue to shower His Easter Blessings on you and your loved ones.

DIOCESAN & LOCAL EVENTS

THIS WEEK’S MASSES & EVENTS

PLEASE MAKE ALL CHECKS FOR THE CHURCH PAYABLE TO: OUR LADY OF FATIMA OR “OLF”.

(Cemetery checks can continue to be made out to the individual Cemetery.)

Deepen your faith with the CATHOLIC HERALD_

This week the Catholic Herald features the Retirement Living section with resources and articles of interest for those in retirement or nearing retirement age. Each week, the Catholic Herald includes TV programs of note and movie reviews from the Office of Film and Broadcasting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Learn more about your Catholic faith by reading the Catholic Herald. If you do not subscribe but wish to receive the Catholic Herald in your home, contact your parish office.

OUR CALL TO STEWARDSHIP “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ…” ACTS 2:38 The word “repent” means to turn from sin, to change our actions. When it comes to change, do we take responsibility for change or do we think that others have to change instead? Change that is permanent comes from within, we must take control and be disciplined. Remember though that we are not alone, Jesus is there to help lighten the load.

Please pray for our sick: Bernie Wiegel, Glenn Garvey, Dale Symons, Eileen White, Joyce Von Rueden, Rita Marty, Heidi Brunkow Moran, Paul O’Brien, Jerry Nethery, Jean Stopper, Adler Roelli, Bob Quinn, Tammy Pratt Kingman, Kathy Mueller, Virginia Larson and Arlene Kluesner. If you know of someone seriously ill and needs community prayers, please inform Father Bosco.

HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL 4th Grade: “Day at the Dairy” on Thursday, May 11 4K Field Trip: on Thursday, May 11 EARLY RELEASE: Friday, May 12 at 1:15pm

Seeing is believing. Take a ride to Holy Rosary Cemetery and see the statue of “Christ the Redeemer”. The expense would amount to $10,000 including landscaping. If one or more families are willing to perpetuate the memory of someone in their family, you may donate and we will duly recognize them with a plaque on the base.

As you can see from the banners in the sanctuary, the year 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of our Mother at Fatima, Portugal. As we are the only parish with Our Lady of Fatima as its patron in the Diocese of Madison, we have planned to do some spiritual activities to commemorate the occasion. Our Lady appeared to three children in 1917, first on May 13 and on the 13th of every month through October 13. To mark the First apparition, we have started a prayer group called, ‘OLF Prayer Cenacle’ and we will kick it off on Saturday, May 13, at 9:00am (not to interfere with Cinco de Mayo celebrations) with the recitation of the Rosary for various intentions of the parish, the universal Church and the world. This prayer group will meet every Thursday in the Church at 7:00pm and pray the Rosary. All are welcome to join this group and pray for the parish.

RELIGIOUS ED: Sunday, May 7: First Communion practice & pictures in Church at 9:15am Wednesday, May 10: Confirmation at St. Clement ’s in Lancaster at 7:00pm Sunday, May 14: Reception for Confirmation Students from 10:00am -1:30pm in Basement

OUR LADY OF FATIMA STATUE: In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, a Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will visit our parish at Holy Rosary Church on Monday, May 15, from 6:00-8:00pm. A team of custodians travels all over the country with a 48-inch replica of the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The statue of Our Lady is ceremoniously crowned, followed by a short video presentation on the message of Fatima. Next all pray the Holy Rosary followed by the distribution of envelopes for petitions which will be taken to Fatima, Portugal, and placed at the exact spot where Our Lady appeared. A social will follow. During this time, everyone is invited to browse the line of religious materials and take picture with the statue of Our Lady. Please come and receive her maternal blessings and pray for her powerful intercession. Between 6:00-8:00pm, you can walk in anytime, pray your devotions and leave at your convenience.

NEXT WEEKEND, the Bishops of the United States have approved a special one-time collection for the Trinity Dome at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Your prayerful and financial support will not only adorn this “Crowning Jewel” and complete Mary’s Shrine, but will also leave a lasting legacy for generations to come in this living monument to our Catholic faith and heritage that is America’s Catholic Church. Please take this week to prayerfully consider making a donation to this collection.

THIS WEEKEND Wagner Pest Control, Dean & Lori Wagner, will be sponsoring the $1 Challenge in memory of Dean & Barbara Hendrickson and Lowell Wagner.
