Prepara tion of the substrate
Before waterproofing, surfaces to betreated must be absolutely
free of dirt,dust, grease, oils, paint, mold, andweeds that might
prevent PLASTISOL 1from bonding to the substrate.
The choice of cleaning systems dependson the type of dirt, but a
good brushingand dust-removal wi th compressed ai rare generally
sufficient. Cleaning withcold water and caustic soda is
especially
effective when oil and grease arepresent, followed by thorough
rinsingwith clean water. Whatever the cleaningmethod chosen,
PLASTISOL 1 should onlybe applied to dry surfaces.
Application
Sealing cracks in horizontal concretesurfaces:Substrates must be
solid, clean anddry. Clean the cracks to be treated,removing dust
and loose particles.Brush on a coat of ISAMITE, Mapeisbituminous
solvent primer. When dry,
use a trowel to seal the crack withPLASTISOL 1.

not subject to foottraffic; sealing cracks in
horizontalsurfaces.

TECHN ICAL CHARACTERISTICS
PLASTISOL 1 is a black mastic based onselected bitumens,
plasticisers, cellulousfibres and fine graded aggregates,prepared
according to a formuladeveloped in the Mapei
researchlaboratories.
PLASTISOL 1 seals cracks andwaterproofs concrete roofs not
subject topedestrian access, and is especiallyrecommended for
repairing oldbituminous layers with cracks after theyhave lost
their plasticizing properties dueto the effects of solar radiation
andfreeze-thaw cycles.
PLASTISOL 1 adheres to cement, brick,sheet metal, wood, asphalt,
etc.

Repairing cracks in bituminousmembranes:Clean the area to be
repaired,removing dust and the degradedsections of the membrane.
Brush on acoat of ISAMITE, Mapeis bituminoussolvent primer. When
dry, trowel on afirst coat of PLASTISOL 1, from 2 to 3mm thick;
insert a 4x4 mm fibreglassmesh, and trowel on a second,
finishing coat of PLASTISOL 1. Waterproofing concrete roofs:
Clean substrate thoroughly so as toremove cement laitance and
dust.Apply a coat of ISAMITE bituminoussolvent primer with brush or
roller.When dry, trowel on a single coat ofPLASTISOL 1 approx. 3 mm
thick.
Cleaning
Tools used for applying PLASTISOL 1 canbe cleaned with
turpentine.
COVERAGE
1.2 kg/ m2 per mm of thickness.
Precautions to be taken duringuse
PLASTISOL 1 contains a small amount offlammable solvents.
Wearing gloves isrecommended during use. Take allprecautions
required for working wi thinflammable products.

PLASTISOL 1 is available in 8 kg buckets.
STORAGEStore PLASTISOL 1 in original unopenedpackaging at
temperatures not lowerthan +5C, away from sources of heatand
flames.
