Message from the Pastor Todays gospel helps us understand the Lords thinking that thieves and women of ill-repute will precede the Pharisees in the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is not exclusively for those who have a spotless record in every page of their life. It is for those who, even though they are bad, have a desire for good, to change, to for-get the past and start anew. It is for them that God came into the world. To tell us that it is not right that we look obsessive-ly all the evil we have committed, but rather that we trans-form it into an opportunity for new life. The mere fact that we feel guilty does not make us better, does not make us change. It may perhaps make us miserable and devoid of hope. If it impels us to reflect and to change, then it becomes an oppor-tunity for salvation. When we say that Jesus Christ trans-forms death into life, we mean that this is the way to look at evil and sin in ourselves. The fact that we sinned in the past does not close for us the gate to real joy, rather it may open the gate to the good. And this is the message of the Lord: look ahead. There is an old Chinese proverb that says do not look at how far you have walked; rather look at how far you have yet to go. What counts is the future, and it starts today.
Mensaje del Prroco El evangelio de este da nos ayuda a comprender el pensamiento del Seor: que los ladrones y mujeres de mala vida precedern a los fariseos en el Reino de Dios. El Reino de Dios no es exclusivo para quienes tienen un rcord inmaculado en todas las pginas de su vida. Es para quienes, a pesar de ser malos, sienten el deseo del bien, quieren cambiar, quieren olvidar el pasado y empezar de nuevo. Para ellos Dios vino a la tierra. Para decirnos que no est bien que miremos con obsesin de enfermos lo malo que hemos hecho, sino que lo transformemos en una oportunidad de nueva vida. El mero hecho de sentirnos culpables ni nos mejora ni nos hace buenos. Quizs pueda hacernos miserables y sin esperanza. Si nos impulsa a reflexionar y cambiar, es una oportunidad de salvacin. Cuando hablamos de que Jesucristo transforma la muerte en vida, estamos hablando de esta manera de mirar el mal y el pecado en nosotros. El haber sido malos en el pasado no nos cierra las puertas a la verdadera alegra, sino que puede abrirnos las puertas al bien. Este es el mensaje del Seor: mirad hacia adelante. Un viejo proverbio chino dice: No mires las millas que has recorrido. Mira lo que te falta por recorrer. Lo que cuenta es el futuro que comienza hoy.
