Rose Prince Pilgrimage
Takes place July 5-7, in Lejac, BC. Guest speaker: Bishop Gary Gordon from the Diocese of Victoria. Since his ordination, Bishop Gary’s love of nature and connecting with his congregation, especially with First Nations communities, developed a lifelong bond with the Stó:lō Nation. Embodying the model to Authentically Witness Excellence, his adventurous, outgoing spirit and gift of storytelling endeared him to the community. Shortly after being appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Whitehorse in 2006, in honour of his evangelizing and connecting with the people, Bishop Gordon received the name Xyolhmetoxw, which means ‘taking care of the people’ in Halq’eméylem, the language of the Stó:lō Nation.
Stewardship Reflections
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do
not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather
serve one another through love.” (Galatians 5:13)
We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one
another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Having gone through the Lenten and Easter season, and then celebrating major solemnities of our faith (Holy
Trinity and Corpus Christi), the Church now returns to what is called Ordinary Time. It is the “day-to-day” life of
Jesus, which is in a way ordinary, but at the same time not so ordinary at all, as it is the life of Jesus. It is like our
life, mostly ordinary, but with Jesus it is not ordinary, as it has consequences that will last for all eternity.
Tomorrow (Monday), we begin the month of July. It is a celebration of our country’s founding. We should
give thanks to God for the blessing of our country, as we have many countless blessings. We also need to pray for
our country, as there are realities that we need to offer reparation to God for: abortion, the violation of marriage,
drugs and … I’ll leave it at that. Celebrate and give thanks to God for the good things, but at the same time do not
forget that we need to pray for our country, which means praying for each other.
In the Old Latin Rite, this day was also the celebration of the Solemnity of the Precious Blood. While this
reality of the Real Presence was subsumed into the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, it is, in my estimation, an
unfortunate reality that we no longer have this beautiful Solemnity, so that we can adore the blood of Jesus Christ
being shed for our sins and healing. It is still quite permissible to offer a Votive Mass of the Precious Blood, and that
is what I will do on Monday. It is a good day, as well, to begin Mass with ‘To Jesus Christ our Sovereign King’, and
end it with the ‘Salve Regina’: Jesus is King, and Mary is Queen, of our nation. Mass is at 9am
This coming Friday is 1st Friday. If you are unable to go to any daily Mass throughout the week this is a very
good one to make the effort to attend. Our Lord made promises to his people through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, if
they would keep the nine (9) First Fridays, which is an extended Novena of Masses for people who are very busy:
1) "I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life; (2) I will establish peace in their
homes; (3) I will comfort them in all their afflictions; (4) I will be their secure refuge during life, and above
all, in death; (5) I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings; (6) Sinners will find in my
Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy (7) Lukewarm souls shall become fervent; (8) Fervent souls shall
quickly mount to high perfection; (9) I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and
honored; (10) I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts; (11) Those who shall
promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart; (12) I promise you in the excessive mercy
of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First
Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor
without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment."
Really make the effort to check with the Lord each day with prayer (15 minutes), and check in with Him
each Sunday, or Saturday evening, at Mass. This is an obligation for us, but it is far more of a privilege and honor
that God would invite us to hear His World and even have the possibility of receiving him in the Holy Eucharist.
Sincerely in Christ
Fr. Hamilton
1)“我要給他們生命各階段中所需要的種種聖寵;
2) 我會在他們家中建立和平;
3) 我會在他們所有的困擾中安慰他們;
4) 我會是他們生命中,尤其在死亡中的安全庇護所;
5) 在他們的一切作為中,我會滿注祝福;
6) 罪人在我心中,能夠找到我聖心海量無限的憐憫;
7) 微暖的靈魂會變成熾熱;
8) 熾熱的靈魂會瞬變完美;
9) 我會降福所有懸挂和恭敬我聖心聖像的地方;
10) 我會賜與神父們感化最硬心腸的恩典;
11) 那些推廣這敬禮的人,我們把他們的名字記於我心內;

5 Ways To Encounter God On Vacation Time for Vacation
Summer is here and school is out. It’s time for a vacation. Many families, the world over, go on vacation to get away from the normal day in, day out of busy schedules. Some people stay at home and have “stay-cations.” Some go to the beach or the mountains. Some go to the desert and others go to lakes, rivers, ponds, or take a cruise. No matter where you and your family and friends go on vacation, God is there.
Priorities When you go on vacation, what are your priorities? Do you want to take in the sights, find entertainment, go shopping, sit back and relax, get out into nature, party and go dancing, find some sporting events…? Do you plan everything out in advance or just go with the flow?
No matter what your answers are, it is important to prioritize God. Taking a vacation from work does not mean taking a vacation from the Catholic Faith. Vacation is the perfect time to focus on God more clearly and center yourself back on Him. He wants you to go on va-cation and enjoy yourself and have a great time with family and friends. Do not let the opportunity to spend time with Him pass by..
1 – In the Planning When you are planning your vacation, say a quick prayer. Vacation planning can be very enjoyable or very stressful depending on your personality. However, God wants to a part of your life. Give Him room to surprise you. When you are planning, start by planning your Mass schedule. Figure out where you will be on Sunday, find a church, and make that priority number one. At home or on vacation, going to Mass on Sunday is a precept of the Church and a great privilege. It is the primary place of encounter with God.
The other thing to look for is Catholic holy sites near where you are going. Are there any old churches, missions, shrines, or the like in the areas where you will be. These can also be a beautiful place of encounter..
2 – In Nature God is the Creator of all things visible and invisible. Take the opportunity to go out into nature. Take a hike. Swim in the ocean. Walk through the forest. Wherever you go, even in the middle of a busy city, keep your eyes open for God’s masterwork. All that is good, true, and beautiful points to His magnificence. Let Him speak to you through His marvelous handiwork.
3 – In Other People One of the most interesting ways to encounter God on vacation is through interactions with other people. In new places, with strangers, you have a beautiful opportunity to practice charity. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and treat everyone you meet as an opportunity for an encounter with God. When you go to restaurants or tourist locations, go out of your way to treat the workers with kindness. Perhaps, if you see a person who is living on the street, buy them food, ask them their name, and sit and eat with them. Look for opportunities of encounter with other people.
Parents are the spiritual leaders of the family, and should help the whole family to encounter God. Fathers and mothers take on different spiritual roles in different families, but as much as possible, they should work together as a team. For example, we can encourage the practice of praying before going to bed or saying grace before meals, or perhaps we can lead the family in singing a hymn or fun religious song at home, or even just take the kids out for a walk in nature to contemplate the beauty of God’s creation.
4 – In Cemeteries Depending on where you are in the world, cemeteries can look very different. In some older cities, cemeteries can stretch on for miles. In some parts of Louisiana, the cemeteries are built above ground. In some old European cities, there are burial places in catacombs. If you are given the opportunity, go to a cemetery and pray for the dead. Each of the departed are unique, unrepeatable human beings made in the image and likeness of God and He loves them perfectly. However, God has given us the tremendous gift to pray for the dead and make atonement for the holy souls in Purgatory. Perhaps some of the people that you pray for are already in Heaven. If that is the case, then they may become an intercessor for you and your family.
Praying in cemeteries with your family may not be a normal activity, but it can make an impact on your children. They will understand that Christians honor the dead and that praying for the dead is important. Hopefully, one day when you and I are deceased, a kind stranger will pray for our repose as well.
5 – In Service Vacation is the perfect time to find opportunities for service. Perhaps while you are planning, you can pray to God and let Him know that you are open to the idea of being of service. In a new place, just like at home, there are always people in need. As followers of Christ, it is important that we not take a break from the practice of the works of mercy. Through serving together, as a family, you will encounter God. Each time I have done intentional service, I have learned a great deal about God, about myself, and about our human family.
Be Open This is not a conclusive list, of course. The number one piece of advice I can give is to be open to how God is working in your life. This is true at home and at work but it is also true on vacation. Vacation offers us a chance to break out of the mundane patterns of life and see God with fresh eyes and hear Him through open ears. He wants to reveal Himself to you and wants to draw you closer to eternal salva-tion, even on vacation. Are you open to encountering Him?.
