The'Worn-Out Dancirg Slippersnce there lived a princess who was locked in her room every night, but every morning herslippers would be worn through. The king promised a generous reward to anyone who could

ffi#,4#k.=._ solve the mystery. Many tried, but to no avail. One day, a young man arrived at the palace with a cape that had

been given to him by his fairy godmother. Anyone who put on thatcape became invisible. Using his cape, the young man hid by theprincess's bed that night.

In the middle of the night, the girl rose and, as if walking in hersleep, disappeared behind a secret door that opened in the wall. The young man followed. They passed through a park and, at theend of the row of trees, the Prince of Night awaited the princess

in a palace like no other. As soon as the princess arrived there, thedancing started.

At dawn, when the girl got home, the king knew everything andwas expecting her together with the young man. His fairy godmother

also showed up, she released the girl from the power of the curse thatmade her go dancing every night, and gave the two the gift of love foreach other.

Jorinde and Joringel

one point |oringel noticed that his bride had turned into a nightingale. He realized that everything that was happening was the work of an evilwitch that appeared before him under the guisl of an owl. No matter howmuch he begged and pleaded, the witch wouldnt give him his bride back.

But |oringel never lost hope and kept wandering around the forest sur-rounding the castle. one night, a fafty came to him in his dream and sheshowed him a flower decorated with red diamonds.

^ At_dawn, ]oringel went in search of the flower and, after a short while, hefound it. It was the rose of love, which had magical powers. with its help, the groom managed to enter the castle. Loyal Friendsnce there lived a servant boy who loved animals very much. He took such good care of hishorse that the fox grew envious and wanted to have such a good master herself. One day she

asked the servant boy if he would take her in his service. The boy agreed and he took care of her with asmuch love and thoughtfulness as he did the horse. After a while the bear came, and then the wolf, andso on, until all the animals in the forest ended up serving the boy. At some point, the animals decidedto look for a wife for their master. Their choice fell upon the king's daughter.

The meeting of the two went wonderfully, and the girl fell in love withthe boy. But the king wasnt happy with his daughter's choice and, as

punishment, he locked her in the tower. The animals came up with a plan to free the princess. The catlured the girl on the terrace, and then the hawk stole her and

took her straight to the forest. The king got furious and prepared for war against the

forest animals. But the animals called for help. When theking saw the huge and frightful army of the animals, he

F surrendered. He forgave his daughter and gave his blessingto the union of the two.

And they lived happily ever after, together with all theanimals in the forest.
