There are millions of properties throughout the UK that still have old and antiquated Storage Heaters providing homes with inefficient, uncomfortable and expensive heating.

By installing a Farho heating system, on a standard tariff, occupants can expect to save approximately 30-40% on bills, due to its vastly reduced energy consumption, and only providing heating when the occupant requires it, something Storage Heaters cannot.

Installation of Farho heaters is also simple, straightforward and efficient. Connection requires no building or plumbing work as the unit is simply mounted onto the wall. Theradiators themselves serve as a template and the brackets ensure the units are level and do not require specific maintenance.

Transportation for the installer is also made easier, due to a significant weight loss over storage, or solid core heaters, which can sometimes be as much as 100kg on equivalent heat output radiators.

Utilising a specific, patented and secret thermo-fluid, called ‘Farhoil’, all Farho heaters offer an unrivalled heat output and efficiency for the consumer. This is gained via our manufacturing process, installing ‘Farhoil’ into all aluminium bodies heated, rather than cold, providing a full coverage of oil throughout the unit, rather than inaccurately estimating a void for future expansion once heated.

A diverse selection of controllability of Farho radiators, provides the user with a tailored choice of how to power their heating system. From a simple and easy to use analogue model, through to our marketleading Xana Plus model, which allowscontrollability remotely from any mobile phone, tablet or computer.

This flexibility in how to control your heating system, offers the user a basic prerequisite, ‘only heating their property when heating is required’. This simple, yet crucial necessity enables further cost saving to the end user, rather than heating a property when it is not occupied, or not needed.

Radiant heat:

The most natural form of radiant heat, is the Sun. The Sun heats objects, rather than the air around it. In central heating applications, radiant heat occurs due to energy being transferred into an object that naturally emits heat, and has numerous advantages overconvected heat for comfortable heating.

Radiant heat has a higher output, for less consumed energy than convection heating. Therefore, you require less radiant heat for a shorter amount of time to sufficiently heat a room, over and above any form of more convected heat.

In Farho radiators, ‘Farhoil’ is heated via an element, which then circulates throughout its high quality aluminium body, heating the aluminium fins, radiating heat throughout the room. Due to our unique manufacture process, Farhoil is injected at high temperature into the aluminium, which enables Farho to provide a radiator that is full to maximum of oil. Other manufacturing processes install oil at low temperatures, leaving an estimated air gap for their oil to expand once heated.

This can sometimes mean that once heated, the oil will not completely fill the body, leaving ‘cool spots’ around the top of the radiator.

Farho’s process of installing hot Farhoil, enables the heater to produce a moreuniform and efficient output, with no cooler areas of coverage.

Our factory sealed units:

ü Are environmentally safe.

ü Use a unique patented heat conducting fluid, Farhoil.

ü Leave no odours.

ü Are non-toxic or corrosive.

ü Emit no gasses or fumes.

ü Create no noise or vibration.

Farho is the most cost-effective product in its range.Consuming approximately 50% less energy than other traditional heating systems, Farho’s system was created and developed based on heating a conducting fluid, with a very high heat inertia.

Using this basic premise Farho have then developed and patented various unique components offering an increased effectiveness, reducing installation costs, and running cost for the end user.

why farho?

Naturally, cool air is heavier than hot air.

As air cools it increases in density and sinks. In central heating, convection heating either occurs naturally, or mechanically. In mechanical convector heaters, cool air is heated via a highwattage element, and naturally rises through the heater, circulating through a room, until it cools, and eventually drops.

This is incredibly inefficient as these heaters consume a large amount of energy for the heat transfer. You also cannot feelconvected heat to the side of a radiator (this would be radiant heat) only above it. Thus requiring more convector heaters to heat a room sufficiently, adding to installation cost.

In a Farho heater, convection occurs naturally. Cool air flows through each fin, and increases in temperature as it rises. It is then circulated throughout the room, providing an efficient heat transfer, at a massive reduction in energy consumed.

LST sizing guide

Due to their efficient technology, and the patented ‘Farhoil’, standard Farho radiators can reach a surface temperature of approximately 80°C.

This is not dangerous to touch, owing to people’s natural reaction to move away, but could cause issues if there is prolonged contact. Therefore, in line with NHS guidelines, on installations for the vulnerable, elderly, or young children (schools etc), using a Farho Low Surface Temperature heater would negate this potential hazard. Utilising the technological advances of the standard Xana Plus heater, the LST heaterrestricts the overall surface temperature of the radiator to43°C using a thermal limiter within the heater.

Offering similar controllability to the Xana Plus, the ability to programme each heater individually over a 24 hour, 7 day period, using the intuitive menu.

For extended flexibility, the LST heaters can also be linked into a Farho MI Wi-Fi controlled system to further enhance the user experience. Due to their electronic similarity, both the standard Xana Plus, and LST versions can be used, and controlled together on the same installation.

As per with the XP range of radiators, a handy wireless remote control is also available, allowing you to boost or reduce radiator temperature in each room, without touching the heater itself! This unique piece of equipment, can control up to 8 zones (rooms), and up to 3 radiators per zone (room).

Having the ability to control your heating system from anywhere in the world, is now a reality, with the use of FarhoIntelligent Heating.

By installing this Farho MI unit into your router, and synchronising with either your mobile phone or tablet, or both, enables you to set individual temperatures, programmes, or a full 24/7 heating schedule for your entire property remotely. Rather than sending a Wi-Fi signal to each radiator, the Farho system uses a radio frequency to send the control messages to each heater.

12 | Ecotrol | www.ecotrol.co.uk

Each individual radiator then helps the signal travel to the next product, creating a fully linked system. For commercial projects, such as hotels, surgeries, care homes or offices, having the Farho Heating system on a central laptop/desktop computer makes controlling the entire heating for the premises the easiest it has ever been.

For larger applications, to boost the RF signal from the Farho MI unit to each heater, we also offer smaller ‘repeater’ modules to extend the systems range. This is particularly useful for older properties with thicker walls and poor Wi-Fi/RF signal coverage. Additionally, Farho also give you the ability to switch and control other equipment, for example the Farho NOVA Towel Rail by installing a CR Power Relay onto its circuit. This can then be located and synced with the Farho MI unit, onto your device, enabling you to operate the equipment remotely.

The NEW EcoGreen range of radiators from Farho offer a new elegant design, whilstutilising Farho’s unique and patented Farhoil, to offer an unrivalled heat distribution across the radiator.

The EcoGreen offers a full 24 hour, 7 day digital timer facility, with the ability to schedule 6 changes per day. EcoGreen also uses specific and intricate electronics to offer ‘Open Window Technology’. Should a window, or door be opened whilst the heater is in cycle, it will detect a temperature drop of 2°C over a period of 5 minutes, and turn itself off.

After a period of 15 minutes, it will then monitor the temperature of the room, and once atemperature increase is detected, it will turn itself back on, and into its programme cycle, saving energy and money by not trying to heat a cooling room.

All installers who are members of an accredited electrical body (NICEIC, STROMA or NAPIT etc.), are welcome to register and join the Farho C.I.P. Each C.I.P. member’s name, address and contact details will automatically be entered onto our website, as a recommended Farho installer. This searchfunction will enable interested end users to locate a C.I.P. in their area, and make contact for potential installations and advice.

Regular regional training seminars will then be offered to all C.I.P. members, which will allow Farho to both educate installers on products, features and benefits, as well as new products, giving them an excellent opportunity to be involved in the development of future Farho Heating equipment.

On completion of the training, a Certified Installer certificate will be awarded to verify and endorse your attendance, as well as a ‘Farho Certified Installer’ sticker, which can be proudly displayed on company vehicles. A loyalty pack is issued, which the installer completes and returns to our head office, after each purchase of Farho products.

This data is then collated, and stored on our central database that tracks your usage of

Farho, with the more you install, the further you climb through Silver, Gold and Platinum levels, and gain more rewards! Receiving surveyor packs, Farho C.I.P branded workwear, regular marketing material, invites to Farho exhibitions, eventually entering a draw to visit the Farho factory in Northern Spain for exclusive training.

Our overall aim is to help electrical contractors and engineers become trained, technically aware, and confident in the installation of Farho products throughout the UK. By working closely with our Certified Installers, Farho can assist in the marketing and promotion of their businesses, via both our website, but also Farho’s participation at exhibitions and events across the country.

Working closely with the various electrical organisations, Farho are constantly and consistently at the forefront of technological advances in the heating industry, which will be regularly disseminated quickly and professionally to our Certified Installers, giving them a major advantage, and in prime position of the electrical industry in their area.

Become a VIP with Farho’s C.I.P.!

Ecotrol help solve a tricky problem at the Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey.Previously, the heating for each of the hotel’s three floors were controlled by six corresponding switches.

If only one room was occupied, the hotel had to heat half of the entire floor - a total load of 30kW. This also caused problems if one guest on a floor wanted the heating on and another did not.

In the worst case scenario, the hotel’s heating load could be 180kW with only one guest on each floor.

Ecotrol acted quickly to solve the problem using Far-ho Xana Plus radiators, wirelessly controlled by MI Farho. This gave us full access to the heatingsystem from reception, letting us control eachradiator individually. Now, heating a single roomwill consume only 990W.

Perran Bay Home for the Elderly,Cornwall.Perran Bay is a residential home for the elderly run by volunteer directors. It overlooks the bay in the Cornish town of Perranporth.

Ecotrol worked with local contractors Electrical Services Cornwall to design and install theelectric heating system for a new extension to the home.

The system had to comply with the low surface temperature requirements of the Care Quality Commission, the health and social care regulator for England; and it also had to be efficient and closely controlled to minimise spending on energy.

testimonialsThe professional service from the Ecotrol team has exceeded our expectations. Now we are planning to update more of the heating in the hotel using Farho radiators and Farho automation.

“Ecotrol helped us throughout every step of our projectand found many solutions to save money on our energy”Mr & Mrs Bowen, Manchester

“I love being able to control my heating when I’m sat atwork. It’s nice and toasty for when I get home!”Mr Milson, Cambridgeshire

Utilising the Farho Xana Plus LST radiator, in configuration with a MI Farho wireless system, easily met the requirements and demands of the home, whilst also providing a comfortable and safe heat for the residents.

The Farho automation lets office staff further adjust temperature settings and timer controls to meet residents’ individual needs without having to wander around the building. All these adjustments can be made in the knowledge that the radiators will never exceed the safe temperature for this environment.
