14.4.1 Connecting Shaft VWZ
Adjusting the height of the various screwjacks connected by VWZ connectingshafts is very quick and easy. Looseningone clamping hub and adjusting on oneside allows very precise stepless movement.For example: With the standard gearreduction this means one 360° rotation isequivalent to 1 mm stroke, e.g. 3,6° = 0,01 mm stroke. When setting under load,one lifting system with several screw jackscan be positioned very accurately.
Mounting
Using split couplings the connecting shaftscan be assembled after installation of thescrew jack gearboxes. Mount the connection shaft onto the gearbox driveshaft and assemble the half coupling tightening the screws to the required torque (see table - no keyway necessary).

VWZ with Rigid Coupling for Use with Pedestal Bearing
In order to specify the correct shaft themethod of assembly is very important. E.g. a larger diameter shaft which doesnot require additional support can be con-siderably lower cost than a smaller shaftrequiring additional pedestal bearings and
support fabrication.For this version we use the rigid coupling,so that no tangential deviation in thepedestal bearing is possible.
