Barry issetting up the schedule (BZ Barry!) Plan oncoming to one of these, and meeting some Kewlmen and women. There is also a small hope that there will be aSAR exercise this summer, involving as manyAuxiliarists as can be worked in. This is ascheduling nightmare, though, and may not comeoffls your Flotilla doing an event that other membersof the Division may be interested in helping?Spread the word to the Flotilla Commanders andPublications officers of the other Flotillas:

Our division has been a leader in the 9th WesternDistict in member training courses in the last fewyears. Followtheir lead and help us move forward lrl'2012.Very Respectfully,Bob AllenvcDR (3e)IIATIO]IAL SAFE BOATIilG WEEKBy Barry Jacobson, SO-PANow is the time to start planning your NationalSafe Boating Week(NSBW) activities. Workingwith your FSO-MA, you should make sure thatboth you and your FSO-VE have enough materialfor Flotilla activitries that will take place.Besides the materials available from AuxiliaryNational Supply Center (ANSC), there are othergood resources:

o USCG Boating Safety Resource Centerwww.uscgboating.org This site has articles, radio PSA's, powerpoint presentations andother useful material.

o BOAT/US: www.boatus.com Several goodhandouts that can be ordered or downloadedfree. They also have items for sale.

o National Safe Boating Council:www.safeboatingcouncil.org Numerouspamphlets can be ordered here in packs of 100.Can be ordered several times through thesummer.

o American Canoe Associationwww.americancanoe.org Both free and low-cost items available. Discounted pricing toACA members.

Another idea is to check with your local mediaoutlet to see what their requirements are forsubmitting articles or radio PSA's. Send theDCDR or the SG.PB I copy of each submittalBEFORE sending to the media outlet. Now is also the time to submit a request for aNSBW proclamation to your local government. Ittakes time for a municipality to process thisrequest and to bring it up for a vote. Find outwhen that meeting will be so that Flotillamembers can be there IN LINIFORM.

THEM OTHER FLOTILLASThe purpose of this issue of the 39er is toencourage you to visit other Flotillas in theDivision. If a member knows what is going on atthe Division level, or next door at a neighboringFlotilla" the whole Auxiliary experience will bebetter.
