InstructionsEach lesson has a one page instruction sheet. This is written so that students can read their own instructions and follow along.

For the Modern Mona, students will add their own background and then color Mona in. They can also be creative about what Mona is wearing , what is in her hands and the colors they use.

For this lesson, students are turning the 4 rocks into animals. There are some samples on the instruction page to get them started with the concept.

This lesson can also be repeated by painting rock shapes on a blank piece of paper and drawing on them after the paint is dry. You could also use a marker to make rock shapes on a piece of paper and draw on top of them.

In the last lesson, students draw food on the plate and make the food into a picture.

These lessons are great for packets that students use when school is canceled.

They would also be a super resource for home-schooled children or children on break from school.

Get All 14If you like this set and you want more lessons like this you can get the full set on my website and Teachers Pay Teachers.

With most of the additional lessons, students will be working in a blank frame, so there is less of a “starter page” than this set. These lessons will work well for older students. (age 6 +)

This is your chance to give Mona an update! You can see below what the real Mona Lisa looks like. It was painted by Leonardo da Vinci from 1503-1506. (But experts aren’t really sure about the date.)

What can you do to make the Mona more modern? Here are few ideas: • Add a caption of what she might be saying. • Let her attend your favorite kind of event. (Like a concert or game. ) • Add something flying in the sky.• Make her inside a room. • Add a hat or give her dress a new pattern.• Make the colors brighter.• Put something in her hand.• Add a little makeup & jewelry.

Once you’ve given Mona a modern makeover, go over any pencil lines with colored or black marker lines. Use a combination of markers and crayons to color her in. Even though I used crazy colors in my example, I tried to keep the value similar. For example, her skin is still light and her hair and clothes are darker than her skin or the background.

Have you ever wished you could have a pet rock? Well, even if you haven’t this is your chance to make one. On the next page you’ll find 4 rocks. Turn them into 4 pets that you already have or 4 pets that you wish you had.

Below are some example of what they might look like. You can also look at your pet, or look at pictures of the animal you want to have as a pet and see how you could turn a rock into that animal.

What can you make out of your favorite foods? Arrange the food on your plate by drawing inside the circle. (If you are using a blank paper, just trace a small plate or large lid to make a circle.) Here are some things that you might be able to make with your food:• a face• an animal• a landscape• a cityscape• outer space• underwater• spell a word

Color in each object with crayons.

Write about what you made with your food. Tell what food you used and what you made from it.

Use markers to outline your drawing. You can use more than one color. Color anything that you want extra bright with a marker.
