Mr. Singh is the Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Power, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

He is credited with achieving near universal household electrification in India under the Saubhagya scheme. Under his leadership, the Indian renewable energy sector has grown rapidly reaching to total installed capacity of 80 GW in July, 2019. Mr. Singh has been an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer with a career record spanning nearly four decades. As a civil servant, he has held many important positions including those of Secretary, Department of Defence Production and Secretary, Home Affairs. As Principal Secretary, Road Construction Department of Bihar, he was widely credited with transformation of the road network of the State. He holds several degrees including B.A. (Hons.) in English Literature, LL.B. and Diploma in Management.

R K Singh

Mr. Anand Kumar is an IAS Officer and is presently steering as the Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Prior to joining the MNRE, he served as the Managing Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). He has held many important positions in Tourism, Infrastructure, Industry, Biotechnology, Finance, Revenue, Elections and Governance sectors under the Central and State Governments. He holds M. Phil degree with distinction from University of Delhi and MBA degree with honours from University of Queensland, Australia.

Anand Kumar

Mr. Pujari, a Post Graduate in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, is a 1981 batch Gujarat cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. He is the Chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). During his career, he handled assignments in various departments/ministries in Gujarat as well as Central Government, such as power, commercial taxes, finance and industries. He was Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Power for more than two years before his superannuation in 2017, after serving for 36 years. In Power sector, maximum generation capacity and inter-state transmission capacity was added in the country, resulting in one nation - one grid - one price during his tenure as Secretary Power. He initiated and concluded a number of far reaching initiatives and policy changes, such as electrification of all the remaining 18,452 villages, launching of "UDAY" for sustainable operational and financial turnaround of discoms, formulation of policies namely Revised Tariff Policy 2016, new coal linkage policy for power plants, Revised National Electricity Plan, new Hydro-power Policy, new policy for universal households electrification by 2019, policy guidelines for integration of renewable energy into the grid, to name a few.

He was closely associated with the signing of the International Solar Alliance Framework Agreement during COP22 in Marrakech and led the Indian delegation for the 2nd BRICS Energy Ministerial Summit and also for the 8th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Summit at Beijing.

Mr. Keith E. Simmons is a retired Foreign Service Officer at the rank of Minister Counselor and presently serves as the Acting Mission Director, USAID/India. He has over 40 years of experience in international development with USAID, the State Department, and U.S. Peace Corps. Prior to coming to India, Mr. Simmons served as short- and long-term USAID Mission Director in countries across Europe, Eurasia, and in Africa where he assisted in achieving democratic and economic reform transitions. He was also Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Armenia and Serbia, and served as Chargé d'Affaires in Serbia. Mr. Simmons has a Bachelors in Liberal Arts from California State University; Master of Social Work from Wayne State University; and an MBA from National University, Sacramento. He was presented with the USAID Distinguished Career Achievement Award in 2008, and Movses Khorenatsi Medal from the President of Armenia for contribution to Armenia's socioeconomic development. He can speak French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Armenian, and Serbo-Croatian.

Keith E. Simmons

Ms. Jan is the Deputy High Commissioner to India. She served as British Ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2013-2017 and then, temporarily, as Deputy High Commissioner to Canada prior to her arrival in New Delhi. Previous postings have included Germany (1992-1994) and the UN Security Council in New York (1997-2000). Ms. Jan also led work on the Balkan wars (1994-1997) and headed the UK department on Afghanistan (2002-2005). After the Asian tsunami she flew to Thailand to establish a temporary British office to help the victims. From 2007-2010 she served as the UK’s Lead Climate Change Negotiator before moving on to head the UK department in the Libya conflict.

Ms. Jan joined the FCO in 1990 after two years spent working for the BBC. She speaks French, German and Czech, and is now embarking on Hindi.

Jan Thompson

Mr. Edgard D. Kagan assumed the position of Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi on July 31, 2019, after serving two years as the U. S. Consul General in Mumbai. He served previously as Deputy Chief of Mission of the U. S. Embassy in Malaysia, Deputy Director of the U. S. Mission to the UN’s Washington Office, and as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

A Foreign Service officer since 1991, he served at U. S. Embassies in Australia, China, Israel, Hungary and the Ivory Coast. He also served as Director of Korean Affairs and had tours of duty in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs as well as on the Policy Planning Staff.

A 1989 graduate cum laude of Yale University, Mr. Kagan worked for the New York City Bureau of Bridges prior to joining the State Department. He speaks French and Mandarin Chinese as well as some Hungarian and Spanish.

Dr. Jasper Wieck is the Deputy Chief of Mission who represents the German Ambassador to India inside and outside the Embassy in all areas. He also heads the Department for Economic and & Global Affairs which is engaged in with Indian Stakeholders on global issues focussing on tangible results in business, trade, agriculture, energy, environment, sustainable development, higher education, vocational trainings as well as science & technology.

Jasper Wieck

Mr. Gavin has been heading the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Office in India since June 2017. He was previously head of DFID’s office in Burma since June 2013 and before that was based in DFID’s London office where he headed DFID’s Private Sector Department, Global Funds and Development Finance Institutions Department and International Financial Institutions Department. He was the UK Director on the Boards of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation) (2007-09) and UNITAID (2007-10). From 2003 to 2013, Mr. Gavin was responsible for DFID’s oversight of CDC Group plc and PIDG (Private Infrastructure Development Group).

Prior to joining DFID in 2000, he managed long-term agricultural sector development programmes in Bolivia, Honduras, Colombia and the Caribbean.

Gavin McGillivray

Mr. Michael Satin joined the USAID Foreign Service in early 2005. He is trained as an ecologist (B.S. - San Francisco State University) and applied economist (M.Sc. - University of West Virginia). He has worked in international affairs and development for 22 years, in both short and long-term assignments in Senegal, Mali, Benin, Chad, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, China, Southeast Asia (Thailand and ASEAN), Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Guinea, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and India.

Mr. Satin has extensive professional experience in economic and community development, complex emergency environments, food security and livelihoods development. In several of his professional roles he has worked in conflict resolution, rule of law and economic governance. He has substantial experience in regional economic integration and trade capacity building and has worked extensively with multinational bodies, including ECOWAS, SAARC, ASEAN and APEC.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he was a technical advisor for agriculture in the USAID Africa Bureau, Office of Sustainable Development where he supported the marketing of agricultural commodities under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), including cotton and sustainable tree crops and the Presidential Initiative to End Hunger in Africa, IEHA. As a part of the Presidential Feed the Future Initiative during his tenure with the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA), Mr. Satin was a leader of the first regional approach to addressing food insecurity and resiliency in Asia.

Before coming to USAID Mr. Satin worked as a consultant, technical advisor and manager. In the 1990s, he was a part of humanitarian and post conflict efforts with Food for the Hungry International in the DR Congo following the Rwandan genocide and during the Congolese civil war and Catholic Relief Services in Madagascar.

Mr. Satin was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal and is married to Ms. Marietou Satin, a USAID Foreign Service Officer and public health professional with USAID/India.

Ms. Anna French is the Deputy Head of DFID India, and Head of the Urban, Energy and Green Growth Team. Before heading to India, Ms. French was Head of DFID's Education Policy Team for 4 years. She joined DFID in 2001, and has extensive experience in policy development and leading and managing programmes in fragile states including in Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. During this time she also worked for 2 years as Senior Policy Adviser on Africa in the Cabinet Office, advising the Prime Minister on UK policy to Africa.

Anna French

Mr. Jagan is a Senior Infrastructure Adviser at DFID India with over two decades of experience in urban development. Jagan was formerly the Director of National Institute of Urban Affairs, the premier think-tank associated with the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

He studied Architectural Design from School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), New Delhi and Architectural History & Theory from the University of Cincinnati and Columbia University in New York. He has served as the Director of Sushant School of Architecture, Gurgaon and has taught at the School of Planning & Architecture (SPA) from 1998 till 2006. From 2007 to 2010, he was the Chief Executive of Urban Space Consultants, providing consultancy in policy formulation, spatial planning, heritage conservation, transportation and livelihoods development.

Jagan Shah

Dr. Priya Sreedharan is the senior clean energy technical advisor with USAID/India. She provides technical and strategic guidance across USAID’s Clean Energy Program and is developing partnerships across the philanthropic and private sectors. Dr. Sreedharan works at the intersection of engineering, economics and policy, and has more than 18 years of research, public, and private sector experience in the energy/environmental sectors.

Priya Sreedharan

Dr. Winfried Damm graduated at FU Hagen, Germany, received a MBA from Michigan State University (USA) and a Ph.D. from FU Berlin.

He worked for two years as a consultant, four years for a member of national parliament in the energy sector and joined the municipal utility (Stadtwerke) of Leipzig in 1992. There he headed sales, marketing, PR, strategy, controlling, M&A, international department and was responsible for external relations among others. He had been involved in many national legislative outcomes starting with the first feed-in-law for renewables up to capacity market discussions.

Dr. Damm started working with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in December 2014 and joined the GIZ India office in January 2015 as Director of the Indo-German Energy Programme.

Mr. Markus Merkel has graduated in Bachelor of Science (Dipl.-Ing) in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Marcus is expert in grid operation, regulation management, network integration of renewable energy sources, energy policy, standardization, association work, smart metering and smart grids. In 2019 he founded on the job Merkel Consulting to provide his knowledge on the Energy transition within International projects. He supported the German GIZ as Expert to set-up a national project in India on advancements in operational maintenance of private DISCOMs. Furthermore he supports as Expert on the 2nd German-Brazilian Energy Day in Rio de Janeiro.

Mr. Merkel is Senior Advisor to the Board of Management at EWE NETZ since January 2012, he holds a Honorary post as Co-Chair of the Eurelectric Working Group on Institutional Frameworks and is Owner of Merkel Consulting since March 2019. Mr. Merkel has over 25 years’ experience in the energy sector. He started his career in EWE AG, a German Utility, as sales engineer in 1993. In 2006 he joined EWE NETZ, a Distribution System Operator for electricity, natural gas, water and telecommunication of the EWE Group, as project manager and between 2009 and 2011 he worked as Manager in the Office of Regulation Management. In his current position he is supporting and advising the Managing Director and the Board of Management of EWE NETZ. He is mandated to participate in different expert and working groups in Germany and on European level.

Since almost ten years Mr. Merkel has been an active contributor to the work of Eurelectric - representing the power sector in over 32 European countries, speaking for more than 3,500 companies in power generation, distribution & supply. Since 2011 he contributes as Eurelectric Expert to the work of the European Commission Taskforce on Smart Grids.

Marcus Merkel

Dr. Anoop Singh is an Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India). He has about 17 years' experience in academics and industry. Dr. Singh founded the Centre for Energy Regulation (CER) at IIT Kanpur through a seed funding support from the Government of UK. He also founded the Energy Analytics Lab (EAL) which is supported by Indian Energy Exchange Ltd. through CSR funding.

He has a PhD, an M. Tech. (Industrial. Engg.) and a B Tech. (Mech. Engg.). He has undertaken research/consultancy assignments for the ADB, the World Bank, the UNCTAD, the UNU/IAS, the AIT, University of Cambridge, and the Planning Commission. He is a recipient of research fellowships from Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), UNU/IAS and DAAD. He also received the Best Business Model Award at Asia Clean Energy Forum 2010.

Dr. Singh regularly contributes to the regulatory and policy debate through regulatory and policy submissions to Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CER). He has been a member of numerous committees/working groups such as for World Energy Council, Committee on Review of Deviation Settlement Charges by CERC, Sub-Group on Load Despatch Centres (LDCs) and Working Group on Power for 11th as well as 12th Five-Year Plan etc.

Mr. S R Narasimhan is the Director (System Operation) of POSOCO. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director, National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) and was responsible for reliable and economic operation of the all India electricity grid which is also connected to the neighbouring countries of Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh. He has over three decades experience in power system operation spread across CEA, POWERGRID and POSOCO after an initial stint with BHEL.

He has handled all facets of power system operation ranging from operational planning, scheduling, real time operation and post despatch analysis besides deployment of the necessary tools for visualization and situational awareness. He has also implemented several electricity market reforms such as the Availability Based Tariff, interstate open access, Day Ahead Markets (DAM) through Power Exchange (PX), Point Of Connection (POC) method of transmission charges sharing, Frequency Control Ancillary Services etc. Mr. Narasimhan has contributed to several Expert Committees at the Government and regulatory levels in different areas ranging from system operation, grid integration of Renewable Energy (RE) resources and optimization to institution building. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India, Senior Member of IEEE and a member of CIGRE. He has published over 30 papers at the national and international level.

S R Narasimhan

Mr. Ponnuraj holds a Master's degree in agriculture and is an IAS officer. He is presently serving as Managing Director of KPCL. As an IAS officer, he has held several positions including officer at the Chief Electoral Office in Karnataka; sub-divisional Revenue Assistant Commissioner in Uttar Kannada; CEO of zilla panchayat, Bagalkot; Deputy Commissioner of Udupi and Ramanagar; Deputy Secretary at the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms; Commissioner, Department of Land Records and Settlement and Joint Secretary at the Chief Minister's office.

V Ponnuraj

Dr. Thomas Ackermann is the founder and CEO of Energynautics, Germany. With over 21 years of professional experience in the field of renewable generation, and 16 years in the field of grid integration of renewables into power systems, Dr. Ackermann is often asked to provide advice to government departments and electricity service providers on the matter of power system design and operation, as well as regulatory matters and grid code issues. He is active as consultant, researcher and lecturer in the area of innovative energy solutions and dissemination of knowledge about the integration of renewable energies into existing systems around the world. As the editor and one of the authors of the book Wind Power in Power Systems, he is constantly up-to-date with international renewables integration issues.

Dr. Ackermann rece ived the degree of a Dip l . - Ing . der Fachr ichtung Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen (combined degree in mechanical engineering and economics) from Technical University Berlin, Germany. In addition, he holds a Master of Science in Physics from Otago University (New Zealand) and received a Ph.D. from Royal Technical University (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan) in Stockholm, Sweden. He is author of many reviewed reports and internationally published papers written in English and a frequent speaker at international events. He is also the main organiser of the Wind & Solar Integration Workshops, held annually in Europe.

Mr. K. V. S. Baba is Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO). He has diversified experience of about 33 years in the power sector. Prior to this, he was working as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of POSOCO.

He has experience of working in the areas of Power System Planning and Design of EHV Transmission system, Power System Analysis, Corporate Planning and Project Management in Distribution Systems in NTPC and POWERGRID, in addition to System Operation, Market operation aspects in POSOCO.

An Electrical and Electronics Engineer, he has been actively associated with Technical report on Technical Committee for Large Scale Integration of Renewable Energy, Need for Balancing, Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) and associated issues, constituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. He has co-authored several papers on the electricity sector.

K V S Baba

Mr. Kapur is an Honors graduate in Physics and has done Post Graduation in Public Policy and Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs from Syracuse University, New York. Mr. Kapur, a member of Indian Administrative Service, has held various important positions in Government of Tamil Nadu and with Government of India and is presently serving as the Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Energy Department.

Having served nearly three decades in Public Administration, Mr. Kapur has worked in Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India. During his service Mr. Kapur has worked in various capacities, including that of MD & CEO, Tamil Nadu Urban Development Fund, Member Secretary, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. He specializes in the area of urban affairs and infrastructure finance and his interests include books, sports and travel.

Vikram Kapur

Mr. Gurdeep Singh is the Chairman & Managing Director of NTPC since 2016. He has an illustrious career spanning nearly three decades in the power sector. He started his career in 1987 as an Engineer Trainee with NTPC and has worked his way through various ranks in both public sector and private sector. He has wide ranging experience entailing all aspects of power generation business. Prior to joining NTPC, he was Managing Director of Gujarat State Electricity Company (GSECL). His visionary leadership and innate ability to work through complexity and focus on core issues, helped bring transformational changes in GSECL. Before GSECL, he worked with Powergen, CLP, AES, IDFC and CESC.

He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra and has undergone Management Education Program from IIM Ahmedabad. He has received management and leadership training from global institutions like Saïd Business School-Oxford, Darden School of Management-Virginia, USA, etc.

An Engineering graduate from Visveswarayya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur University in 1982, Mr. Mhaske joined Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in 1984 as a Group-A officer in the Central Power Engineering Services, through the Combined Engineering Services Examination of UPSC and rose to the position of Chairperson and Member Planning in the CEA, Ministry of Power, Government of India. He has over 34 years of service in different government organisations including CEA, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and Northern Regional Power Committee (NRPC). He has worked in almost all the fields of power sector viz., Generation, Transmission, Grid Operation and Electricity Regulation. He has vast experience in the fields of Transmission Planning including techno-economic appraisal of transmission schemes and monitoring, Grid Operation and Regulatory issues.

In CERC, he was involved in formulating various Regulations such as Tariff Regulations; Availability Based Tariff (ABT), Indian Electricity Grid Code, Open Access, Electricity trading, Grant of Transmission licence, etc. and as Member Secretary, NRPC, Mr. Mhaske was responsible for resolution of Grid Operation, Protection and commercial issues for safe, secure and economic operation of grid and for improvement of grid performance

Prakash Mhaske

Dr. Chatterjee is presently Chief (Regulatory Affairs) with Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). He has long experience of dealing with power sector reforms, especially, Regulatory Reforms since its inception in 1998. Dr. Chatterjee is a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, USA. He authored publication -“S.K. Chatterjee’s Commentary on the Electricity Laws of India” (Delhi Law House, 2006) and co-authored publication on “The Electricity sector in India: Policy and Regulation” (Oxford University Press (OUP), 2012). S K Chatterjee

Dr. Hannele Holttinen is Partner at Recognis and Operating Agent of IEAWIND Task 25 (MSc in 1991, PhD in 2004, Helsinki Technical University). She has worked at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland for more than 25 years in different fields of wind energy research including resource assessment and measurements, production and failure statistics as well as offshore and arctic wind power feasibility. Since 2000, her main interest has been the impact of wind and solar on power systems and electricity markets. She acts as Operating Agent of the IEA international collaboration on power system operation with large amounts of wind power (IEA WIND Task 25) since 2006. She chaired IEA Implementing Agreement on Wind Energy in 2011-12, has been a member of ETIP Wind platform through EERA co-operation 2017-18, and in European Union Wind Energy Platform TPWIND before that (2007-14) leading Grid integration group and in the Steering committee. She was in the Steering committee of Nordic TFI programme for wind in 2009-14.

Mr. Sukhinder Lalli is a qualified lawyer. He joined Ofgem in 2011 and is currently working Deputy Director in the Office of the General Counsel. He is responsible for leading the Systems Legal team and providing legal support to the Systems and Networks Division in respect of; EU law and the implementation of European Network Codes; Brexit; flexibility; reforms to gas and electricity charging; regulation of the Electricity System Operator; determinations and the Capacity Market.

Mr. Lalli is also Inquiry Director and leads Ofgem’s engagement with the Northern Ireland Renewable Heath Incentive Public Inquiry. Before joining Ofgem, Mr. Lalli was a senior lawyer within Government. This included working at the Department of Energy and Climate Change on nuclear safety and security and new nuclear. Prior to that position he was deployed at the Treasury Solicitor in the Home Office Public Law litigation team. In his early career.

Mr. Lalli worked in private practice in the field of insurance litigation. He holds an undergraduate degree in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a postgraduate degree in law (LLM) from University College, London.

Sukhinder Lalli

Mr. Jeremy Larrieu began his career as an energy economist modelling crude oil and natural gas markets for a consulting firm in Washington, DC. While completing his Ph.D. in economics, Mr. Larrieu researched the interaction of forward and spot prices in U.S. wholesale electricity markets and the impact of government incentives on deployment of renewable energy. He has been at the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Enforcement for 7 years, leading a group of data scientists and energy economists tasked with investigating fraud, manipulation and anti-competitive behavior in the wholesale physical and financial electricity markets.

Jeremy Larrieu

Ms. Donna Melinda Sauter serves as legal advisor to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Neil Chatterjee. She has worked for the Chairman since he joined FERC in August of 2017. Ms. Sauter has over 20 years of experience with electric and natural gas regulatory matters. She has been with the Commission for ten years, having previously served as legal advisor to Commissioner Tony Clark and as attorney-advisor in the Energy Markets division of the Office of the General Counsel. Prior to joining FERC, Ms. Sauter managed energy regulatory and compliance matters for a large publicly traded energy company, and was in private practice at a large multi-national law firm, representing energy marketers and generation asset owners. She earned her Juris Doctor from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC, and her Bachelor of Arts at Pepperdine University in California.

He was previously a Managing Director with UK energy regulator Ofgem, was a Director with transmission and system operation company National Grid, and consultancy firm KPMG. He has extensive experience of renewable energy integration from regulatory, technical and business perspectives. He has led numerous investment campaigns in new energy, telecoms and utility businesses.

He founded Riverswan in 2017 to provide advice to power and utility clients worldwide. He is also an independent member of Ofgem’s RIIO-2 Challenge Panel and ESO Performance Panel. Mr. Hull is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, Member of Institution of Engineering & Technology and also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Mr. S. K. Soonee has over 30 years of work experience in power system operations. He has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Power System Operation Corporation Limited. Prior to this, he has served as an Executive Director of System Operations at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He joined CEA in 1978. Since then, he has worked extensively in Integration of State Grids to form a Regional Grid and subsequent integration of Regional Grids leading to the formation of the National Grid. He has specialization in Power System Operation, Planning, Commercial, Settlement, Restoration and entire gamut of Power Pooling and Governance.

He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Senior Member of IEEE and represents India on the CIGRE Study Committee C2 on Power System Operation and Control. He holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

S K Soonee

Mr. David Palchak is an engineer in the Strategic Energy Analysis Center at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Mr. Palchak's work addresses the challenges associated with renewable energy integration on the bulk power system and has involved multiple stakeholder driven projects on the Eastern and Western Interconnections of North America and India. He has led studies that analyze the impact of wind and solar on the power system and identifies the value of mitigation options such as storage, demand response, operating reserves, and thermal fleet flexibility. In collaboration with POSOCO and Berkeley Lab Mr. Palchak recently co-led a renewable energy integration study for India, which analyzes the operational impacts of India's 2022 installed capacity target of 160 GW wind and solar.

Dr. Guillermo Bautista Alderete is currently the Director of Market Analysis and Forecasting with the California Independent System Operator, where he oversees the areas of market analysis and performance, market validation, load and renewable forecasting, flexible capacity and ramp requirements, calculation of opportunity costs, and commitment costs and reference bids. Previously, Dr. Guillermo was the Manager of Market Analysis and Manager of Market Quality and Validation. He has also held technical positions in the divisions of Operations, Technology, Market infrastructure and Development, and Market Quality and Renewable Integration. His technical expertise is in the areas of data analytics, market design and rules, monitoring, policy development, gas-electric coordination, gas markets, costs negotiations, project implementation, and market software testing and deployment. Prior to joining the ISO, Dr. Guillermo was a Professor in the Department of Management Sciences in the University of Waterloo, Canada where he specialized in Operations Research in Electricity markets and Engineering Economics.

Dr. Guillermo holds a Ph. D. in electrical and computer engineering with specialization in electricity markets, a M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on power system operations, and a B. Mr. Saurabh Kumar is the Managing Director, Energy Efficiency Services Limited. He is an Electrical Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and holds a Master’s in Public Policy from National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Kumar has worked in various capacities in Income Tax Department, Ministry of Power, and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). On the completion of the GRIPS Young Leaders Program in 2006, Mr. Kumar was appointed as Secretary of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) during 2007-2010. One of the key projects implemented under his leadership, was the world’s largest CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) based efficient lighting project. He proceeded on a UN Deputation to Bangkok for 2 years and was handling environmental issues in Asia – Pacific region. He has worked for design and implementation of programmes for promoting energy efficiency in India, preparing policies for accelerating up-take of energy efficiency programs in India and has actively handled the international climate change negotiations as a part of the national negotiation team.

Saurabh Kumar

Dr. Ashvini Kumar has served as the Managing Director of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI). He has extensive experience of working on various programmes and activities pertaining to research, development and dissemination of solar technologies. He has worked in various capacities including at Solar Energy Centre, which is now National Institute of Solar Energy and helped setting up National Testing Facility for solar thermal systems.

Dr. Kumar obtained his Doctorate Degree in Solar Energy from IIT Delhi in 1981. He has co-authored three books, several review articles and over 50 research papers in peer reviewed journals. Presently he is working at TERI as Senior Director, Renewable Energy Technology Applications. He is a member of Global Advisory Committee on Implementation of ISA activities.

Dr. Kirit Parikh, Former Member, Planning Commission, Government of India, is currently Chairman, Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), He is the Former (Founder) Director (Vice Chancellor), Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai - An Advanced Research Institute, and has been honoured with Padma Bhushan by the President of India in March 2009. Dr. Balaraman Kannan is an expert in RE integration and power system planning & operation having extensive knowledge in handling very large systems like Indian and several other international grid systems to complex industrial networks. His vast experience of more than 28 years is spread across the gamut of power system engineering. Dr. Balaraman is highly specialized in renewable integration, power system planning, and solving exceedingly intricate customer problems and providing solutions with right mix of tools, technologies and most of all, adept domain expertise.

He has carried out Grid Integration of RE with the portfolio of more than 35,000MW of wind generation and 5000 MW of solar generation. The projects spans across India, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Fiji and Indonesia. He was involved in preparation of Wind Energy Grid code in India and updating Java-Matura-Bali Grid code with renewables as part of ICED-1 project. As part of US-AID SARI project, he was involved in Harmonization of Grid code for South Asian interconnection which includes Renewable Energy options for meeting the demand.

Recipient of National Award for e-Governance, 2018-19 (Gold) for Wind Power forecasting services for Tamil Nadu from Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Govt. of India.

Dr. Hans-Peter (Igor) Waldl is an international expert in Renewable Energies, wind and solar power forecasting, storage technologies, grid integration of renewables including control room applications like power dispatching and extreme weather situation management, and further education with a proven industrial and academic track record of more than 30 years. Mr. Praveen Kumar Agarwal is the Director (Market Operation) of Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO). Mr. Prakash Tiwari is the Director (Operations), NTPC. Prior to elevation to the post of Director (Operations), he was working as ED (Operations) & was looking after all activities related to operation of NTPC power plants. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from NIT Raipur. He joined NTPC as 6th batch Executive Trainee in 1981. He has an illustrious career spanning over 37 years of outstanding contribution in management of large size plants in the areas of power plant operation & maintenance and in project construction as a professional manager, strategic planner and a business leader. He has led several initiatives for achieving operational excellence of plants.

Mr. Tiwari’s experience in power sector includes more than 7 years at senior management level as a “Business Unit Head” of NTPC Stations i.e Unchahar, Korba and Solapur. Mr, Tiwari is also part-time Director on the Board of NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd. (NTECL) and Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (KBUNL). As Director (Operations), NTPC, he shall be responsible for overall planning for smooth & safe operation of all NTPC power generating stations of more than 51,000 MW capacity and for fuel security & environment compliance of all Power Plants.

Prakash Tiwari

Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lehnhoff received his doctorate at the TU Dortmund University in 2009. He is a member of the executive board of the OFFIS Institute for Information Technology and speaker of its Energy R&D division. He is speaker of the section “Energy Informatics” within the German Informatics Society (GI), assoc. editor of the IEEE Computer Society’s Computing and Smart Grid Special Technical Community as well as an active member of numerous committees and working groups focusing on ICT in future Smart Grids. He is an honorary professor of the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland. He is CTO of openKONSEQUENZ e.G. – registered co-operative industry association for the development of modular open source SCADA/EMS. He serves as an Executive Committee Member of the ACM Emerging Interest Group on Energy Systems and Informatics (EIG-ENERGY), Steering Committee member of the EIG flagship conference E-Energy (ht tp: / / www.sigcomm.org/events/eenergy-conference) and as a founding Board Member of SpringerOpen journal on Energy Informatics (https://energyinformatics. springeropen.com). Prof. Dr. Lehnhoff is author of over 150 refereed and peer-reviewed scientific publications.

He leads one of the largest Energy Informatics research groups in Europe (~70 researchers). His research interests focus on the large-scale integration of decentralized, renewable energy sources into the electricity supply system in combination with the politically motivated reorganization of corporate structures and business processes.

Mr. Stephen Storm is a Principal Technical Leader at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Mr. Storm has the experience of conducting, leading and managing plant performance improvement programs over the past two decades. His experience is recognized around the world as an author for numerous publications on "best practices,” serving industry as a consultant and program manager with Duke Energy prior to his current role at EPRI, where his expertise was deployed as both an advisor and program manager addressing performance and operational challenges that included combustion, fuel changes, environmental requirements, system testing, optimization, technical project development, financial project development, evaluation of new technology and training.

Mr. Storm’s role at the Electric Power Research Institute is to develop and manage major research projects focusing on Operational Flexibility of Fossil Generation assets. This position works across numerous technical areas of the Generation Sector (component programs, chemistry, materials, O&M, environmental controls) as a technical contributor and project manager of research and application projects specific to operational flexibility. Mr. Storm is a graduate of Pfeiffer University, attended NC State Graduate school, is a veteran boat engineer and Certified Energy Manager, through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Stephen Storm

Mr. Doug Waters is the Director of Global Energy Services at Uniper. Before this he was the head of Local Fleet Management for EON Espana Generation in Madrid, being responsible for the Local Asset Management team of E.ON’s 5GW of thermal and hydro portfolio in Spain. Prior to that he led the fleet wide renegotiation of E.ON’s portfolio of long term service agreements contract for the global portfolio of CCGTs. During his nearly 20 years in the power industry, Doug has worked on projects in Europe, India and US.

He holds a Master degree in engineering from Birmingham, UK as well an Executive MBA from European School of Management & Technology in Berlin, Germany. He is a board member of India Uniper Power Service Pvt, Uniper India Pvt, Uniper Energy Southern Africa Pty and Uniper Energy Services MENA DMCC.

Doug Waters

Dr. T S Bhatti is Professor in Centre for Energy studies. He did his PhD from IIT Delhi in 1985. He was a post-doctoral fellow at University of Newcastle, Australia in 1987. He has visited UK under TCTP in 1993 and Indonesia under ITDG program in 1998. He has guided 40 M. Tech theses and 6 Ph.D theses so far. He has published more than 150 papers in National and International Journals and Conferences. He has edited a book entitled, “Small Hydro Power Systems”. He has done several sponsored and consultancy projects in the area of Electric Energy Systems. He has prepared five technical reports for CSIR, DST and Univ. of Newcastle. He is the Secretary for Centre Research Committee (CRC) since 2003. He has developed a wind turbine for low wind speeds with accelerating nozzles to be used for irrigation and electric power generation, which was sponsored by DST. His current area of research includes, automatic generation control of power systems, transient stability analysis of multi-machine systems, load frequency and reactive power control of isolated hybrid power systems, control of small hydro power systems, air concentrating nozzles and drag type vertical axis wind energy conversion systems.

Mr. S.K. Mishra joined as Director (Power System), Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) in February 2018. He is looking after hybrid, wind, solar, PMC projects and working closely with CEA for ensuring the evacuation system of renewable energy plants across the country. He is also representing SECI as Director in the Board of Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd. (APSPCPL) and Lucknow Solar Power Development Corporation Ltd. (LSPDCL).

Prior to join SECI, Mr. Mishra held the position of Executive Director (QA&I and CMD Coordination Cell), working with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He was entrusted with responsibility as head of CMD Coordination Cell formed with a purpose to strategically guide POWERGRID through process innovations, inter-departmental coordination and early spotting & resolution of issues. In this assignment, he was also responsible for ensuring the development of the industry on a whole through quality control and vendor development programs.

Shailesh Kumar Mishra

Mr. Vivek Goel is Central Power Engineering Services (CPES) officer working presently as a Chief Engineer in Distribution Planning & Technology Development Division of Central Electricity Authority (CEA). He has more than 20 years of experience in planning, designing & engineering of power distribution system, formulation & amendments of regulations, development of efficient distribution system and development of Smart Grid etc. He was associated with the preparation of 24x7 Power For All (PFA) Documents for all States and have also been nominated by MOP in various committees. Presently, he is actively associated in preparation of Distribution Perspective Plan 2022 and development of smart metering in the country.

Vivek Goel

Dr. Abhijit Abhyankar is the NTPC Chair Professor at Electrical Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He works in the area of power systems. His research interests include - Power System Analysis and Optimization, Power System Security, Power Markets, Smart Grids, Distribution System Analysis and Optimization, Power System Flexibility, Electricity Regulatory and Policy Matters.

Dr. Bernhard Ernst is an electrical engineer with experience in a variety of power systems obtained during 19 years of experience working in research, with a TSO and a solar inverter manufacturer. Furthermore, he is chairing the IEC technical committee SC8A “Grid Integration of Large- capacity Renewable Energy (RE) Generation”. IEC SC8A works on standards to increase the grid stability and security of supply in electric power systems with a high share of variable renewable generation.

After completing his doctorate in the field of wind power forecasting, Dr. Ernst joined RWE Transportnetz Strom (now Amprion GmbH) as an expert for the grid integration of renewable energy. He spent a large portion of his time as a project leader on the new task congestion management on the French-German and Swiss-German borders as well as in the CWE market coupling project. In parallel to the congestion management projects he was the project leader on Amprion’s side for the joint project with EEX on the German intraday trading platform.

In 2011 Dr. Ernst joint SMA, the world largest manufacturer for solar PV inverters at this time, as Director of Grid Integration. His tasks included the coordination of grid integration activities within SMA such as research projects, and development of new features and activities in standardisation.

In May 2015 he left SMA to start his own business as a consultant in the energy sector. His assignments so far include the market and grid integration of distributed energy sources such as wind and solar PV in Southern Africa.

In September 2016 he started at Fraunhofer IWES (now Fraunhofer IEE) as manager of the group grid planning and operation. Beside this he still runs his consulting business on a limited base.

Dr. Ernst is manager of the group Studies Grid Planning and Operation at Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES).

Prior to this he was the director of the department Grid Integration at SMA Solar Technology AG, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of PV power converters. He holds a degree of electrical engineering of the University of Kassel, Germany. In 2003 he finished his Ph.D. (Dr. Ing.) on the topic of wind power forecasting at the “Institut für Solare Energieversorgungstechnik” (now Fraunhofer IWES) in Kassel.

In 2004 he started his career at RWE TSO with main focus on wind power integration and congestion management. Dr. Ernst is chairman of the IEC SC 8A “Grid Integration of Large-capacity Renewable Energy (RE) Generation” and has published several papers about grid integration of renewable energy source and forecasting systems on international conferences and workshops.

Over the past 15 years Dr. Ernst was periodically teaching at several international institutions in the field of and forecasting and grid integration of renewables.

Mr. Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava is the Director (Transmission) at Ministry of Power. He has around 20 years of experience in Power Sector and has worked with CEA and PGCIL. He has worked in the Grid Management Division, Operation Performance Monitoring Division and System Engineering and Technology Development Division (SETD Div.). He holds a Master’s degree M.Tech. in Control System from Kurukshetra University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engg. from Madan Mohan Malaviya Engg. College, Gorakhpur, UP.

Southern California Edison (SCE), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California, USA. It provides 15 million people with electricity across a service territory of approximately 50,000 square miles. As the Director of Grid Technology and Modernization at SCE, Mr. Vibhu Kaushik leads SCE’s strategic roadmap for grid modernization, and serves as SCE’s leader in applied research and grid modernization, leading industry groups and external stakeholders on industry initiatives, research activities, standards and cooperative projects. He also leads SCE’s technical efforts in deployment of emerging technologies including key integrated pilot demonstration projects. Previously, Mr. Kaushik held several roles within SCE including Principal Manager of Asset Management and Generation Strategy group where he was responsible for driving the major maintenance and capital investment decisions and maximize the returns for company’s hydroelectric, natural gas, energy storage, and solar power plants; Mr. Kaushik originated and led SCE’s award-winning Hybrid Enhance Gas Turbines projects and Energy Storage initiatives.

Mr. Kaushik received the 2017 “Top Forty Innovators” award from Public Utilities Fortnightly magazine. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India, and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Manitoba, Canada, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from University of California, Los Angeles. He is also a registered professional engineer.

Vibhu Kaushik

Prof. Ramesh Rayudu holds a B.E. (First Class–Distinction) from Osmania University (India), a M.E. from University of Canterbury (NZ) and a PhD in AI and Power systems engineering from Lincoln University (NZ). He has over 15 years of industrial work experience both in India and New Zealand. He is also involved in consultation work for several international firms in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Germany and the USA.

He is currently an Associate Professor at Victoria University of Wellington. His current research interests include Power Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, Data Analytics in Power, Health Monitoring, and Energy Harvesting.

Prof. Rayudu has written over 100+ publications in journals, invited articles and papers for magazines and conferences and has won three Best Paper and four Best Presentation Awards. He hold three patents. He was co-awarded New Zealand's prestigious IPENZ 1999 Fulton Downer Silver Medal. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and active in IEEE activities and is currently the Chair of local PES Chapter. More recently, he was also the general co-chair for the 2017 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Asia (ISGT Asia) conference, New Zealand.

Dr. Zakir Rather is an electrical engineer by training, with PhD in power systems from Aalborg University, Denmark. He has been working in renewable energy sector for past 8 years with around 4 years of industry experience in Europe. He, in close collaboration with the Danish National transmission system operator, Energinet.dk, has extensively worked on the Danish grid during his tenure at KK Wind Solutions, Denmark. He is currently working as Assistant Professor with the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India, where main focus of his work continues to be on grid and system integration of renewables (wind and solar PV), and power system operation under high penetration of renewable generation. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE Power & Energy Society, IEEE Smart Grid Community, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and Danish Smart Grid Research Forum. His areas of research interest include grid integration of wind and solar power, power system dynamics, smart and micro grids, and WAMPACS.

Zakir Rather

Mr. Markus Wypior has over 20 years of experience in project management, bilateral and multilateral development co-operation, policy advisory and strategic planning in telecommunications, energy, environment and climate change. He has a very good standing within the Indian stakeholder community and is often invited as a speaker or panelist.

At present he is responsible for the implementation of the Green Energy Corridor module within the Indo-German Energy Programme. He leads a multi-disciplinary team of experts in the field of large-scale grid integration of renewable energy and provides advisory services to various stakeholders on forecasting, scheduling, balancing and ancillary services.

From 2012 – 2015 he established the support office of the Indo-German Energy Forum in India which is Germany’s political dialogue platform in the energy sector. The support office is jointly operated by GIZ, KfW and the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).

From 2005 – 2012 he implemented numerous projects in the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in India and other countries in Asia.

After joining GIZ in 2003 he was responsible for the thematic areas "Environmental Protection and Energy Management", "Management of Natural Resources and Poverty Reduction" and "Urban Development" at the China desk in GIZ’s headquarters.

Mr. Wypior graduated as an economist (Master’s degree equivalent) from Bonn University in 1997. Prior to joining GIZ he worked mainly in telecommunications and other infrastructure projects in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia.

Before entering University, Mr. Wypior joined the German industrial conglomerate Mannesmann AG as a trainee and worked thereafter as procurement and sales officer in the field of energy and environmental technology.
