Milano Montagna is a three day festival designed to showcase mountain culture and present new technologies from 2015-2016 Ski, Climb, Bike and Trail 2015-16, entry is free.
The Milano Montagna project was born in 2014 from an idea of the Università della Montagna, part of the University of Milan. More specifically created by the cultural association Mountain in the city, active in the promotion and testing of skiing equiment; as well as Misiad, a Milan-based cultural association born to promote design, and in collaboration with Expo gate, the window through which Milan communicates with Expo 2015.
The first edition of the Milano Montagna project was held at the Aula Magna of the University of Milan and at the Expo Gate from the 16th to the 18th of October 2014, with the assistance of EXPO 2015, the Regione Lombardia and of the Comune di MIlano.
Milano Montagna is a festival aiming to adress experts as well as anyone passionate ofmountain activities, to promote every aspect of mountian life: culture, science, territory, sport, tecnologies, equipment, design, nutrition.

› Cervino 2015 -150 dalla Conquista, organising comitee of the events related to the anniversary of the first hike of mount Cervinio; › FWT -Freeride World Tour, Worldwide championship of freeride sking; › Trento Film Festival, the world’s biggest review of mountain related films and books; › Camera Valdostana - Chambre valdôtaine, Chamber of commerce of the Aostan valley; › Camera di Commercio di Bergamo; › Spiagames, outdoor agency active in the sporting world. › M Studio, Visual image and communication agency. › 4action media,Italian publishing company dedicated to the action sporting world; › SkiForum.it, The biggest online Italian community of skiers; › Mountain Blog, large italian portal dedicated to mountains.

THE NUMBERS OF 2014
The success of the 2014 event was demonstrated by our numbers:
· 30 events from the University of Milan to the Expo Gate;· More than 8,000 visitors: with 3,000+ registered to the event;· 30 conferences held by researchers, experts and scientists from different disciplins,· 5 Italian universities involved: The University of Milan, the Polytechnique of Milan, The University of Trento, The Polytechnique University of Turin, The University of Bologna.· 15 meetings with athletes,ski champions and mountaneeirs· 14 videos , of which three are unedited and presented for the first time ever at Milano Montagna· 30 buisnesses leaders in their fields with the most innovative products· 100 products displayed at the exhibition “Light, fast and safe 100 design objects for next winter”. more than 100 articles on websites and in the press of which Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Giornale, Il Giorno and specialised magazines.. 10 TV passages on Rai, Rai EXPO and Class TV. 58.000 visits on the facebook page on the event week. 30.000 visits during the event week on the website www.milanomontagna.it. 60.000 students and professors from the University of Milan received the newsletter and the invite to the event.

MEETINGS, DEBATES, PANEL DISCUSSIONS 2014
At the opening, held on the 16th of October participants included the Milan Mayor Giuliano Pisapia, the rector of the University of Milan Gianluca Vago, the Councillor for Sports and Wellbeing of the City of Milan Chiara Bisconti and the Secretary of the Presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility to the Mountains Ugo Parolo. This was an important signal from the institutions that they wanted to recognize the event as it would have a high potential for the city.
The participants of the event included mountaineers such as Hervé Barmasse, one of the greatest interpreters of world mountaneering and testimonial of the Matterhorn in 2015, Silvio Mondinelli (Gnaro) one of the few climbers to have scaled all the 14 highest peaks in the world without using oxygen, Alessandro Gogna one of the protagonists of Italian mountaineering, Michael Cucchi conqueror of K2 in 2015, Agostino da Polenza President Ev-K2-CNR, Giulia Monego, Luca Rolli, Davide Capozzi, Francesco Civra Dano freeride athletes, Damiano Lenzi world champion and first winner of the grand Slam in alpine skiing. Speakers included scientists and scholars such as Nicola Pugno, Michele Freppaz, Claudio Smiraglia, Franco Brevini and MartinoColonna. The chef Norbert Niederkofler presented the project ‘Cook the Mountain’, while Alessandra Nicoletti, President of the VDA Trailers and Franz Rossi presented the Tor de Giants and the world of Ultratrail.
Saturday the 18th of october the display closed with the awarding of the best products selected by an exceptional panel - chaired by Alberto Meda and composed by the designer Riccardo Blumer, Marc Sadler, Mario Varesco and journalist Silvia Nani - who presented the awards for the categories of skis, boots, safety equipment and clothing.
