Invited Companies After 20 years as the world’s factory, China has also become the top global carbon emitter, with 27% of global emissions as of 2019. The country has pledged to achieve a peaking of total carbon emissions by 2030E and carbon neutrality by 2060E. In the 14th FYP, we expect China to aggressively promote clean and renewable energies in order to fulfill this long-term target. Hence, we see various investment opportunities in wind, solar and power storage materials. In addition, various fossil-fuel companies will have to stipulate their carbon reduction footprint before a likely launch of a carbon emission trading system (ETS) by 2023E. On the other hand, the environmental pollution and an aging population has generated massive demand for healthcare products and services. We estimate China’s 65-year-or-above population to reach 35% by 2050E (2019: 13%) with per-capita GDP quadrupling by 2050E vs. USD10,276 in 2019. The Daiwa PURE Energy and Healthcare Conference will feature key companies we expect to benefit from this long- term investment theme. 2030E and carbon neutrality by 2060E. In the 14th FYP, we expect China to aggressively promote clean

and renewable energies in order to fulfill this long-term target. Hence, we see various investment

opportunities in wind, solar and power storage materials. In addition, various fossil-fuel companies will have

Topic: The outlook for solar in 2021 and beyond: the ultimate

winner of carbon neutrality in China

* Audio Conference via Zoom (Mandarin Only)

Ms. Shujuan WANGCurrent Founder at Zhihui Photovoltaic

Ms. Wang has more than 10 years of experience in the photovoltaic industry.

Currently she is the founder of Zhihui Photovoltaic (since 2017). The company mainly

provides industry consulting and research for enterprises in the photovoltaic field. The

expert is also a researcher on the Energy Investment Professional Committee at the

China Investment Association. Prior to this, the expert worked at Beijing Jipeng

Information Consulting, Guodian Photovoltaic, Hanergy Application Group and Xinwei

Intelligent Power.

China aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, highlighting its determination to

transition away from carbon-heavy activities. We expect the solar segment to benefit

the most from the carbon-neutrality plan with solar power consumption to grow by

22x over 2019-60E, on our forecast, which would translate into average annual solar

installations of c.99GW. We invite Ms. Shujuan Wang, the founder of Zhihui

Photovoltaic, to speak on multiple topics, including solar installation forecasts,

upstream products ASPs and energy storage paths, among others. Ms. Wang has

over 10-years of experience in the solar segment with prior working experience at

Guodian Photovoltaic, Hanergy Application Group and Xinwei Intelligent Power. Ms.

Wang is also a researcher on the Energy Investment Professional Committee at the

China Investment Association.

Topic: COVID-19: vaccine usage and epidemic evolvement

from the front-line in China

* Video Conference via Zoom (Mandarin Only)

Dr. Yong Jian, LIANGDirector of the Immunisation Planning Department at the Centre for

Disease Control and Prevention in Shunde, Foshan

Dr. Liang has several years of experience in the vaccine field. He has been at the

Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in Shunde District, Foshan City since

2009. He is currently the director of the Immunisation Planning Division (since

February 2019), responsible for the procurement, sales, transportation, and outpatient

delivery of vaccines in Shunde District, Foshan City. Prior to this, he was the Director

of the Office at the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in Shunde District,

Foshan City and formerly Medical Insurance Policy Researcher at the Shunde District

Health Bureau.

With promising trial data and vaccine approvals in China and around the world,

attention has turned to when the pandemic may come to an end. Recently, Sinovac

and Sinopharm’s vaccines have been granted EUA approval in China and have been

purchased by a number of government disease control centres, including Beijing and

Zhejiang. In terms of vaccine management, China’s Centre for Disease Control and

Prevention (CDC) plays a key role in getting the vaccine to the population. We have

invited Dr. Liang, Director of the CDC in Shunde to share with us his front-line

experience relating to COVID-19 vaccine purchase and usage, and his thoughts on

the pandemic’s development in China.

Topic: Natural Gas development in the 14th FYP

*Audio Conference via Zoom (Mandarin Only)

Mr. Guojing, CHIDeputy Secretary of the China Gas Association

Mr. Guojing Chi has over 30 years of oil and gas industry experience in China, and is

currently the Deputy Secretary of the China Gas Association, an organisation which

liaises with the NDRC on natural gas policy on behalf of city-gas companies in China.

During the 2020-21 winter, China faced a serious coal shortage with regional blackout

of power and heat supply due to the exceptionally cold winter and tight coal supply.

Hence, natural gas consumption nationwide has seen a strong rebound to 10.4% YoY

in December. Moving into the first year of the 14th FYP, we see various notable

events in the natural gas sector, including the debut of PipeChina and further support

of the upstream E&P (especially on shale) further lowering gas cost while enhancing

self-sufficiency, to ensure energy supply security. We have invited Mr. Guojing Chi,

the Deputy Secretary of the China Gas Association to share with us the latest

developments in the gas sector and his view on the natural gas policy in the 14th

FYP period (2021-25), and natural gas’s position as part of China’s long-term carbon

neutrality target in 2060.

Topic: China Battery Value Chain Overview 2021

*Audio Conference via Zoom

(Mandarin/English (with interpretation from Daiwa analyst))

Mr. Leihui, PAN Chief Battery Analyst at ICCSINO

Mr. Leihui Pan is currently the Chief Battery Analyst at ICCSINO, the leading battery

and battery materials information platform in China. He has over 5 years of

experience in the battery sector with a specific focus on upstream materials including

cathode, lithium and cobalt.

While major battery makers across the globe are struggling to reduce battery costs,

we believe that upstream battery material prices, particularly for lithium carbonate,

electrolyte and LFP have picked up significantly since 2H20. In order to gain a

complete picture of the relationship between upstream materials and downstream

battery output, we have invited two industry experts from ICCSINO to share their

thoughts on the current situation.

Mr. Junlong, HUGeneral Manager of the Battery Segment at ICCSINO

Mr. Junlong Hu is currently the General Manager of the battery segment at ICCSINO.

He has over 7 years of experience in the battery sector with a specific focus on NEV,

lithium-ion batteries, cathodes and separators.
