Strike escalatesBy Andries van Zyl

As strike action at the Makhado Municipality entered its third week, residents’ patience with the Makhado Municipality and striking union members is wearing thin.

On Monday, 11 April, municipal spokesperson Mr Louis Bobodi stated that members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and the Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (IMATU) had embarked on a go-slow in protest of the benchmarking of salaries process.

The issue of benchmarking served before Coun-cil on 8 October last year with the aim of “standard-izing” employees’ salaries in municipalities. How-ever, the process hit a snag when, after Council had indicated to workers that their salaries would be benchmarked with those of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Council realized that they were not in the fi nancial po si tion to afford such a dramatic

increase

in their salary bill. Council then took a resolution that the benchmarking of salaries should be done through job evaluation under the auspices of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), with Council only offering an ex-gratia amount of R15 000, spread over three years, for each employee in lieu of the + 10 years’ non-com-pletion of the job evaluation process by SALGA. This outraged union members, who argued that it was unfair to couple the issue of benchmarking of salaries with that of SALGA’s job-evaluation project – a project that SALGA has been unable to complete since 2004. They also felt that the promise of R15 000 spread over three years for each employee meant nothing to them, as they might get the fi rst R5 000 this year, but not next year as there was a clause that the payment of the R15 000 over three years would be stopped as soon as the job evaluation process was complete.

As union members’ frustration grew, so too did the strike action escalate, accompanied by allegations of deliberate sabotaging of municipal

infrastructure and non-striking union members’ receiving death threats. Services mostly affected by the go-slow action are those of electricity supply, water supply and waste removal – all listed as essential services in accordance with the Labour Relations Act. It was rumoured that the municipality had called an emergency meeting on Friday, 22 April, to take a decision on whether or not to appoint private contractors, at extra cost to the taxpayer amidst an illegal protest action, to deliver essential services.

The past week, residents had to endure continual power outages and water shortages. Farmers along the Vivo electrical distribution line went without power for two days last week. Along the Levubu line the situation was as bad, with some parts of this farming community (specifi cally the southern and eastern part) going without electricity for most of the weekend since Friday.

“The situation has become intol-erable. The action borders on plain

criminality,”

said Mr Stephen Hoffman, chairperson of the Soutpansberg District Agricultural Union. He said many farmers had already reported crop losses because cold rooms could not function as a result of prolonged power outages.

Especially banana famers have suffered losses running into thousands of rands. Similar reports are coming in from farmers in the Vivo area. Hoffman said that they viewed the current strike action as economic sabotage because their members suffered severe fi nancial losses.

“Direct losses due to food and product losses in cold storage already amount to hundreds of thou-sands of rands, while the damage done to crops

2 ZOUTPANSBERGER, 29 APRIL 2016

By Isabel Venter

The municipality is preventing development and progress in Louis Trichardt, gambling with the future of the town and at the cost of residents.

This is the opinion of a local development com-pany that has been struggling to develop the town’s Green Belt area north of Stubbs Street. For more than a decade now, this area has been “threatened by” or “earmarked for” development on numerous occasions - depending on one’s viewpoint.

Recently, the directors of the company Daybreak Properties 7 (Pty) Ltd. lifted the veil on their deal-ings with the Makhado Municipality. It has been a 12-year battle for this local company to conclude the deal on the development of the property.

Speaking on behalf of Daybreak, managing di-rector Mr Vino Ramjee explained that the proposed development will comprise a shopping centre of 35 000m² (see artists impression above) with asso-ciated parking, a hotel, and two separate complexes (housing and office).

Of late, negotiations between the two parties reached a stalemate, with Daybreak describing the municipality outright as “corrupt to the core.” According to Ramjee, the manner in which the municipality dealt with them left them with no other alternative but to reveal the “true” state of affairs.

The last straw was when Daybreak learnt that the municipality is favouring other devel-opment projects above their project. Ramjee was referring to the deal the municipality struck last year with the Masingita Group of Companies that will expand the Makha-do Crossing mall into a regional shopping centre.

Looking over the documents that Daybreak sup-plied the newspaper with, one can clearly see that dealings between Daybreak and the municipality have been marked with controversy from the onset.

For starters, the tender for the development of the remainder of Extension 9 west of the N1 was awarded to Wadanga-I-Tole Entertainment Park (Pty) Ltd, a shareholder company of Daybreak, by former municipal manager Mrs Faith Muthambi on 3 December 2004. The present-day Minister of Communications served a controversial term as the local municipal manager, a position from which she was abruptly suspended on alleged fraud charges in 2009.

Muthambi, on 27 November 2006, signed the Deed of Sale for the amount of R15.3 million. This was supposed to kick off the land transfer. The deal could not, however, be completed and after Muth-ambi got the boot, Daybreak ran into a lot of red tape in their efforts to conclude the transaction. The main holdup was caused by mediations regarding the procurement of bulk services for Extension 9, without which the transfer could not take place.

Finally, in 2012, the municipality confessed that the supply of electricity was proving to be challenging. “…this municipality can only make available a 100kVA for a new supply and up to a maximum of a 100kVA for any existing supply,”

wrote acting municipal manager Mr L E Mugari on 24 April 2012. This was despite the fact that the municipality had stated in the original Deed of Sale that electricity and other bulk services were available “at the border of the property.” Furthermore, the municipality, after the contract had been signed, vouched for the availability of the services to the property three more times, on different occasions, in writing.

Of note is a certificate that another former acting municipal manager, Mr R H Maluleke, issued on 16 May 2008, stating that “the 179 residential erven … will be provided with the necessary services within a period of three months from the date of this certificate and the Council is prepared to consider the consolidation and the approval of the building plans in respect of the erven.”

Daybreak, in order to complete their develop-ment, will need in the region of 5 730kVA elec-tricity. Subsequently, Daybreak was forced back to the drawing board to draft a counterproposal. They asked that the “environmentally sensitive areas” be excluded from the development, purchasing the useable 30.34Ha at a reduced price of R6,28 million. In addition, to sweeten the deal, Daybreak offered to install the electricity at their own cost and deduct the actual cost from the purchase price of the land.

At the beginning of 2013, the municipality came up with a counteroffer - Daybreak should rather as-sist the municipality “with funds for the upgrading of substations owned by the municipality.” Apart from this, the municipality also requested that a new contract be signed that includes a new price tag totalling a whopping R41 496 000.

More letters and negotiations followed, but with no favourable outcome for Daybreak as the company argued that it did not make good business sense to pay both the new purchase price and for the upgrade of the substations.

Finally, on 26 January this year, Daybreak withdrew their proposal to help out with the sub-stations and reverted back to the original contract signed in 2006.

For more than three months the Zoutpansberger struggled to elicit a response from the Makhado

Municipality regarding the deal. Countless emails to the spokesperson, Mr Louis Bobodi, yielded no results, other than an email that stated: “The deal with Daybreak Properties is going ahead, but can’t be discussed as it is private.”

Not satisfied with this response, the newspaper took the matter up with the current municipal manager, Mr Sakkie Mutshinyali. He was made aware that Daybreak was of the opinion that other developers, such as Masingita, were favoured above them and that this constituted corruption.

After emailing back and forth, the newspaper finally managed to arrange a meeting with Mut-shinyali on Thursday, 14 April, which was also attended by Daybreak. The outcome of the meeting was, however, not in the least bit helpful but rather a heated debate between Mutshinyali and Mr Aaron Nyufunyufu, another director of Daybreak.

Mutshinyali explained that the municipality had been struggling for quite some time to secure funds for the upgrade of the substation. He further added that it was not only a problem for the municipality, but also somewhat of an embarrassment. Until such time as the upgrade can take place, there can be no major developments in Louis Trichardt.

According to Mutshinyali, the upgrade could cost the municipality up to R100 million. He said that the municipality was currently not in the position to lay out this amount of capital for the necessary upgrades. “Over the years, we have run through several avenues to try and generate the nec-essary funds,” said Mutshinyali during the meeting.

In the meantime, Ramjee lamented the fact that the municipality continued “to drag their feet in the finalization … and is acting to the detriment of the local community.” He indicated that if the municipality was not willing to stick to the original sale contract, Daybreak would approach the High Court for assistance. The company feels that they have already bent over backwards to fulfil the requirements of the contract.

“We procured the environmental report, supplied bank guarantees, the works … we are tired of the municipality’s corrupt ways, and will force them to stick with their word and continue with our development,” said Ramjee.

By Isabel Venter

The position that Daybreak Properties found themselves in (see article above) with the Makha-do Municipality has once again put the focus on the town’s electricity situation.

In 2013, the Zoutpansberger reported on the dire state of Louis Trichardt’s electrical network and maintenance backlog, which resulted in a poor development forecast. At that time, the municipal-ity put a moratorium on all new developments for which the electricity demand exceeded 100kVA.

In layman’s terms, 100KVA is enough for a single housing development of about 30 small flats or 20 small housing units, but certainly not enough for the size of the development Daybreak Proper-ties envisages for the Green Belt area. Daybreak Properties, said company director Vino Ramjee, needs approximately 5 000kVA, and 100kVA is not even enough to run the kitchens of a regular-sized restaurant.

Despite this (and this is what upsets Ramjee and his fellow directors), the Masingita Group of companies was recently given the green light for the expansion of the Makhado Crossing mall. “How can they be awarded an electrical connection that easily?” asked Ramjee. Daybreak Properties has been struggling for more than 10 years to get the municipality to supply electricity that will enable it to proceed with its development.

When the newspaper investigated the matter fur-ther, it soon became clear that the town’s electrical network is indeed on the verge of total collapse, as was reported in 2013. In the meantime, the mu-nicipality announced towards the end of last year that it would not, from that time on, approve any new developments of which the electricity demand exceeded 50kVA.

The newspaper contacted several local electrical engineers, other developers and electricians. They all painted the same dark picture: Development in Louis Trichardt has come to a grinding halt, due to a shortage of electricity.

Apart from State projects, such as the new office complex of the Department of Home Affairs in An-derson Street, no new projects are approved. One engineering company the newspaper spoke to, on condition that they remain anonymous, confirmed

that they have had little to no success in getting new developments approved, as a result of the limit on the electricity supply. “It is only when you can cite ‘special conditions’ that the municipality will consider approving a developer more than the current 50KVA,” the company explained.

Another developer, Mr Rampie Gilfillan of Bridge Motors, said he was waiting for the out-come of his application for additional electricity for his development on the corner of Rissik Street and the N1. His development will consist of two new vehicle dealerships and a well-known family restaurant. He already has an approved 150kVA from the municipality but needs an additional supply of approximately 350kVA.

Taking the above into account, it would seem that neither the Daybreak nor the Masingita devel-opment will get off the ground soon. Yet Makha-do’s municipal manager, Mr Sakkie Mutshinyali, indicated that Masingita would be able to expand the Makhado Crossing mall. He explained that the premises (of the sporting facilities) already have a “certain amount of electricity allocated to them” and that this will enable them to proceed with their development.

Mutshinyali further added that the restriction on development because of the limited electricity supply was just as frustrating to the municipality. He explained that the municipality had “exhausted many avenues in the past to raise the money needed for the upgrade of the substation.”

Mutshinyali mentioned that Council was in the process of applying for a loan, but it could take months, if not years, to secure the funds needed to upgrade the town’s electrical infrastructure. “We simply do not have the money for such a big project,” said Mutshinyali.

The municipality’s current NMD (notified max-imum demand, which is the size of the electrical supply granted to the municipality by Eskom), is 44MVA. In 2013, the municipality admitted that the town’s electricity demand already exceeded this supply at times.

Last year, when asked about the upkeep of elec-tricity lines, the municipality acknowledged in an email “that the main Makhado sub-station is fully loaded, currently running at the 45MVA from its NMD of 44.”

Electricity crisis halts development

Green Belt property deal marred by controversy

(Contd from P1)

To add insult to injury, Hoffman said, it would seem that striking municipal workers themselves were sabotaging municipal infrastructure to give their cause momentum. This, he said, was the case on the electricity supply line between Louis Trich-ardt and Elim, as well as the supply line between Louis Trichardt and Vivo in Tshikota. Last week, power line poles in Tshikota were deliberately set alight. On the Elim line, said Hoffman, electrical faults were apparently repaired, only for thugs to return the next day to cut the poles off and setting them alight again. Hoffman demanded that the municipality push for criminal charges to be laid against union members who sabotaged municipal infrastructure. He said that their modus operandi was similar to that of a couple of years ago during a previous SAMWU strike. He said that the munic-ipal management then promised them that charges would be laid, but that this had never happened. “I seriously think that this sabotage is politically motivated, based on the reluctance of the people in charge to act,” Hoffman said.

Bobodi confirmed on Monday that the strike

action was still in full force. “But not all em-ployees are participating … we have to put on record that IMATU members are not taking part,” Bobodi said.

Bobodi was also asked what action the munic-ipality had taken over the past two weeks to put a stop to the illegal strike action. On 11 April he confirmed that the strike action was unprotected, stating that a special Council meeting would be called to consider the filing of an application to declare the strike unprotected, with the necessary consequences, which include disciplinary hear-ings and lock-outs. In this regard, Bobodi said, they had filed such an application on Monday.

As for the alleged emergency meeting on Friday, Bobodi said that he was not aware of such a meeting. He did, however, indicate that, on Thursday last week, Council had approved a decision to appoint contractors to render es-sential services. “Contractors were appointed to render the following services: Refuse removal to collect refuse in town, which started on Sat-urday, an electrical contractor for the repair of damaged transmission lines at Levubu and Mara, and Vhembe District Municipality has appointed a service provider to deal with water supply issues. Today [Monday] the striking manage-ment meeting requested the directorate to make submission to consider municipal services that are considered essential,” Bobodi said.

With regard to the extent of criminality as-sociated with the current strike action, Bobodi said that they were aware of several incidents of sabotage. “The Levubu and Mara areas were negatively affected and electrical poles were cut around the Rondebosch area. The water reticulation system was also tampered with,” Bobodi said. As for Hoffman’s demand that criminal charges be laid, Bobodi confirmed that criminal charges had been laid at the Makhado SAPS (CAS 183/4/2016 and CAS 194/4/2016).

The big question now is surely when this nasty strike action will end. “As to when the strike action will come to an end, you can just check with the striking workers themselves. Council has resolved to withdraw the R 15 000 ex-gratia amount which was the root cause of the strike. We have gone to court to declare the strike unlawful, unprocedural and unprotected. We will continue to apply the no-work, no-pay policy,” Bobodi said.

Me.

Me.

Ronnie Lombard, doodgeskiet is.

At Geldenhuys, is Sondag, 17 April, skielik aan ‘n hartaanval oorlede. Hy was ten tye van sy afsterwe woonagtig in Polokwane, waar hy werksaam was. Foto verskaf.

Mnr. Foto verskaf.

Followers of the popular M-Net TV competition, The Voice SA, are in for a treat this Sunday. Local singing sensation Clement “Clemour” Ngobeni proceeded to the Top-16 round of the competition and he has promised his fans that he is going to deliver something really special.

“I am stepping out of my comfort zone,” said Clemour during a telephonic interview on Monday. “Since the beginning of the competition, I have been doing a lot of deep soul music, nothing lighter, but I am going to take a risk with the hope that it will pay off,” said Clemour.

The 24-year-old singer from Waterval per-formed Joan Osborne’s One of us during his fi rst live performance two weeks ago. This was not good enough to get a “save” from his coach, Kahn Morbee (lead singer of The Parlotones), but good enough for his fans, who voted him into the next round.

Clemour certainly made people take notice of him during The Voice SA competition. During the blind auditions, he belted out Marvin Gaye’s classic, Let’s get it on, and Kahn Morbee was the fi rst to turn, beating Bobby van Jaarsveld and Karen Zoid. In the second round, Clemour literally roared when performing Katy Perry’s song with the same title. During the live performance two weeks ago, he surprised with his versatility with his unique rendition of the song, One of us.

Clemour admitted that he was very nervous

after the live performance. “I was encouraged by all the messages on Facebook. This boosted my confi dence,” he said. Clemour said that he was humbled and overwhelmed by the support he received through the voting by the viewers and fans. “I appreciate the support that I have been receiving, I am humbled by the fact that there is someone out there whom I have not met, yet that person loves what I do, believes in my dream and actually supports me,” said Clemour.

He is very aware that it will be extremely diffi cult to proceed to the next round of the competition. “I am going to keep pushing. This is the biggest thing I have ever done ... I want to make this work like nobody’s business,” he said.

On Sunday, Clemour will be competing against the remaining three members of #TeamKahn, namely Prime Zulu, Richard Stirton and the singer who gets the most votes after the past Sunday’s performance. Coach Kahn Morbee will again have the opportunity to save one of the four, while the second contestant to go through will have to rely on the votes of fans.

The Voice SA is aired on M-Net DStv Channel 101 every Sunday at 17:30 and can also be followed on different social media platforms, including Facebook: The Voice SA; Twitter: @VoiceSA #TheVoiceSA; Instagram: @VoiceSA #TheVoic-eSA; and WeChat ID: MNetTV.

Hofnuus

8 ZOUTPANSBERGER, 29 APRIL 2016

After three decades of hard work, lots of tears, many successes and a lot of passion and dedica-tion, the Louis Trichardt SPCA said farewell to one of its stalwarts, Ms Bea Reimer.

Bea announced her resignation as the chairperson of the local SPCA and its committee during the association’s AGM on 20 April. She had been part of the local SPCA from the founding days 30 years ago, when Kobus and Mirtel Odendaal often did trips to Tzaneen SPCA and then later headed up the opening of the town’s own SPCA.

Newly elected vice chairperson and public rela-tions officer Ms Alicia Thomas paid tribute to Bea and the work she has done this week. “Keeping an organisation such as ours open and functioning for so many years is most definitely not the easiest of tasks, especially when one hears of how many SPCAs around our country have had to close their doors due to a lack of funding. Apart from the work involved, it is also an extremely emotionally taxing

Stalwart bids SPCA farewell after three decadesventure and it takes some extra-special people with the same passion and drive to keep things going and running smoothly. For the past 30 years the SPCA committee, under leadership of Ms Reimer, has done exactly that,” said Thomas.

Thomas contacted Bea’s daughter, Tanya Veld-man, to share some of her mother’s experiences from the past 30 years she could remember.

From her arrival in Louis Trichardt in 1980, Bea has been involved with animal care and welfare. Being a farm girl, she has always had a passion and love for animals. She started working at the Gov-ernment Veterinary Offices alongside Dr Buchner and the late Dr Loock. During this time, she also took on the massive task of managing the admin-istrational duties of the SPCA in her free time.

“There are so many stories Bea will be able to tell and they should really be recorded in a book of some sort,” said Tanya Veldman. These stories include times when Mirtel and herself would go

around collecting dog licences and they would of-ten find themselves in a situation where angry dogs were chasing after them. There was also the time when a crocodile had to be taken in by the SPCA and had to be kept calm and wet until further assis-tance arrived. So too did many birds of prey often spend the night until a rehabilitation centre could come and collect them. There have been all kinds of animals … goats, donkeys, cattle, sheep, dogs, cats, all of whom were extremely lucky to have crossed paths with Bea when they were in need.

Tanya has always been involved with her mother and all the SPCA events, even though she never became a committee member herself. She recalls all the Saturdays spent at the legendary jumble sale next to Robot Electrical or everyone pitching in when the office had to be revamped. Special times were spent under the trees at the SPCA, pricing second-hand items and books for the next jumble sale - anything to make some extra money for the animals in need.

After quite a few SPCA inspector candidates that never lasted or just could not handle the task at hand, Lawrence Khodobo joined the SPCA team. He proved to be such an asset to the team and still is today.

There were times when finances were in dire straits and Lawrence had to relocate to Johannes-burg, but Bea and her team always managed to turn things around and Lawrence was able to take up his position again within a few months.

“There were times, before our SPCA could afford an inspector, where Bea would go out on animal-cruelty cases and collect an animal in need herself. Then New Year’s eve would come and planning around fireworks and all the animals that suffered during this time would take main priority. This was always one of the worst times of the year for my mother,” said Tanya.

In her chairperson’s report, Bea ended off with this message: “We all work on behalf of animals, and whatever we do for them must be done un-conditionally and with love”. She also thanked her team that worked by her side for 30 years, commit-tee members and kennel staff for their dedication

and hard work. “We would also like to make a special mention to the committee members who resigned alongside Bea, namely Melody Mocke (treasurer), Sophie Zeelie and Kathy Tucker. For many years this was the team that kept things going through good times and bad. Thanks to you, we can step in and carry forward the legacy you leave behind and for that we, as the new committee, will be forever grateful,” said Thomas.

The new SPCA committee elected on 20 April consists of Pierre Thomas (chairperson), Alicia, Yolanda Cronjé (secretary), Grietjie Smith (trea-surer), Adri Viviers (on-site liaison manager), Lesley Gaigher (public relations), Marja Pretorius (tin donations), Johan Cronjé, Dirk Meissenheimer (senior) and Estelle Britz. “We would like to thank all the members who attended our AGM this year. We look back on an amazing year and want to thank our community for their support and involvement in the past months. Without you, we would not be able to do what we do and be the voice for those who have no voice,” Thomas said.

The newly elected management committee of the Louis Trichardt SPCA are, from left to right, Adri Viviers, Marja Pretorius, Alicia Thomas, Pierre Thomas, Yolanda Cronjé, Lesley Gaigher, Johan Cronjé and Dirk Meissenheimer. Absent when the photo was taken were Grietjie Smith and Estelle Britz. Photo supplied.

The school governing body (SGB) of Eric Louw High School in

We feel honoured at the invitation [from Venetia

We especially want to mention and convey our thanks to the general manager, Mr

We noticed that what the company stands for, the company does: Cleanliness, safety, professionalism and a host of positive input from all the staff. The visit made our

general view of the mine prem-ises a little clearer and a great sense of appreciation for the mammoth task of handling tons of raw materials to gain such a small quantity of the product.

Last but not least, we want to thank the mine for their continuous support for Eric Louw High school. Assistance from this successful mine is key to the success of the school and allows us to offer better educa-tion in a better environment to our learners.

From the month of May, road users can expect a high number of arrests and the impounding of vehicles as traffic authorities will deal with all factors that contribute to fatalities on South Africa’s roads.

This announcement by the Road Traffic Man-agement Fund (RTMC) will see intensified law enforcement on Limpopo roads in particular. Last week, the MEC for Transport, Mrs Mapula Mokaba Phukwana, said that the province’s roads were considered among the most dangerous in the world.

Explaining the need for intensified action, RTMC said that authorities and metros from all nine provinces were encouraged by the 46% decline in road fatalities during the Easter holidays this year. “The officials decided road safety operations implemented over Easter should be continued throughout the country to continue to reduce deaths,” said RTMC last Friday.

Representatives of the different provinces met as part of a National Road Safety Steering Committee

on Friday (15th). During the meeting, road safety trends from the past five years were reviewed. Based on the trends, said RTMC, Easter operations that will continue will focus on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Pay-day weekends and long weekends will ex-perience stringent law-enforcement operations and roadblocks to address drunken driving‚ speeding as well as reckless and negligent driving. Drivers are also cautioned to ensure that all passengers use seatbelts. “Those who fail to do this‚ will incur fines for each passenger who is found to be flouting the rules‚“ the RTMC said.

Law enforcement will focus on reducing pedes-trian fatalities. Trends show that the highest number of road users who die on the roads in this period are pedestrians (38‚3%)‚ followed by passengers (32%) and drivers (27.8%).

Furthermore, Limpopo, together with KwaZu-lu-Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and the Eastern Cape, have contributed to 63% of all road fatalities in the country. Source: Road Traffic Management Fund.

Local stargazers are in for a treat on 9 May this year as they will have the opportunity to view the transit of Mercury.

“This rare event will be visible from southern Africa. There are about 13 transits of Mercury each century, all falling within several days of 8 May and 10 November. The next transit will only occur on 11 November, 2019,” says Mr Kos Coronaios of the Soutpans-berg Astronomy Club (SAC).

To afford residents the oppor-tunity to experience this event up close, the SAC will host a unique open day/afternoon. Mercury’s passage across the solar disc, as it

transits the sun, will start shortly after 13:00 and end at 20:42, well after the sun has set in most parts of the country.

Coronaios explained that of all the planets in our solar system, only the two inner planets, Venus and Mercury, pass between the earth and sun and are visible as tiny black dots on the sun’s face. “Because of Mercury’s smaller orbit and faster orbital speed, transits of Mercury are much more common than transits of Venus, occurring 13 or 14 times a century. Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena, oc-

curring less than twice a century. The last one was in 2012 and the next one won’t be until 2117,” Coronaios said.

For those people who would like to view the transit but are unable to do so during the day, Coronaios had a warning. “Do not look through binoculars, a telescope, a camera or anything that magnifies the sun. You will most definitely cause irreversible damage to your eyesight and blind yourself,” Coronaios said.

For more information on the club’s open day on 9 May, phone Coronaios at Tel 079 148 4934.

Pluimbalnuus

Ongelukkig was daar geen ander O/19-meisies by die toernooi nie.

Agter is die span se afrigter me.
