We would be happy to have additional, “associated” partners, without any administrative overhead. Both – as observers and actual contributors
More things I noted:
EC will measure “success” by reports – please help to get them right.
In particular, help make the external reports on time – otherwise payment delayed!
It has become very clear that NCLinac is well embedded in a healthy and ongoing R&D program – this is very good and will allow a “flying start”.
The above seems to be true for both CLIC and ILC.

Task preparation
The preparation of the 4 tasks is progressing very well – I’d like to reiterate my thanks to the task coordinators, persuaded that the tasks are in very competent hands, and confident that NCLinac will be a success.

Process of refinement ofplanning and spending profile: Intermediate (internal) milestones are still under
discussion with the partners, but a first draft exists. This is already very useful – thank you very much (to the task leaders and the partners)!
Thanks also for the spending profile, where also a 1st iteration was presented – thank you! (Task 4: not yet fully – depends on planned hiring – I’ll make some assumptions)
Both these will help me to report to EuCARD SC next Fri!
But of course – the refinement process will have to continue …
27/3/2009 EuCARD NCLinac Kick-Off Meeting 8
NCLinac – CLIC
NCLinac covers very important R&D issues for CLIC Understanding breakdown, Alignment, influence on HOM Decelerator structures (PETS integration) Drive beam validation (phase stability) Preservation of small emittances, Stabilisation
Fits well bridging after the CDR
27/3/2009 EuCARD NCLinac Kick-Off Meeting 9
NCLinac – ILC
Even a SC linac has 30% NC acc. Systems
Timescale fits very well with TDP (-> 2012)
Main points of contact: BDS & MDI In BDS: alignment, stabilisation,
emmitance tuning, laser wire, precision BPMs, feedback
