27 March 2016 Welcome to Gold Coast North Anglican Church. We’re so glad that you have joined us today and we invite you to participate in our worship as freely and fully as you feel comfortable to. Please join us for a cuppa and a chat after the service.
From the Reverend Stephen Hooper….
The challenge of the resurrection
In 2007 a Discovery Channel documentary claimed that Jesus’ body had been found by Israeli archaeologists. The evidence was acknowledged by the presenters to be sketchy at best – but it highlights one of the significant challenges we face as followers of our Risen King. Is there any historical evidence of Jesus resurrection? Let’s explore some of the facts: Sceptics, secular historians and biblical scholars agree that Jesus was
executed by crucifixion. The disciples firmly believed that Jesus had risen from the dead. There was
a dramatic change in the disciples after Jesus’ resurrection as they courageously proclaimed the good news. They were willing to die for their beliefs.
The tomb was clearly empty – the transformation the disciples and the unwillingness of the Roman or Jewish authorities to produce the body verifies Jesus absence from the tomb was not the result of organised deception.
Both Paul and James as persecutor and sceptic believed in the risen Lord after they had encountered him face to face.
Ultimately there is no purpose seeking a scientific endorsement – scientists only tell us what normally happens and Jesus resurrection is extra-ordinary. So in faith go into the world and joyfully proclaim the ultimate truth –
Christ is risen! [Alleluia!] He is risen indeed! [Alleluia!]

For your study and prayers….
Daily Bible Readings for next week…. Monday: Genesis 28 Tuesday: Genesis 29 Wednesday: Genesis 30 Thursday: Genesis 31 Friday: Genesis 32 Saturday: Genesis 33
Prayer of the Week: Lord of all life and power, who, though the
mighty resurrection of your Son, overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise, honour and thanksgiving, now and for all eternity. Amen.
Daily Prayers: Brett, Denise & Ray Eolkin, Antoinette Brennan, Lance & Daphne
Best, Betty Power, Chris Brice, Jan Wood, Gillian McNamee, Matt (George & Judy Osborne’s son), Caitlin Moorhouse, Bruce Dunn, Philip Jones, Octavia Whitney, John Devine, Lindsay & Carolyn Whybrow (BCA), Alita Ticehurst, Marilyn Pappas, the Costin family, Victor Lilley (Glenda Murrell’s dad), Michael Goldspink (Miles & Glenda’s son-in-law), Rosie Stower and Bev Huguenin.
Beyond the Parish: BtP giving for March will go to Mothers’ Union and BtP
giving for April will go to PATSIMAC.
CMS Link Missionaries: Please pray for Adam & Helene Ramsay and their
children Leo, Ellie and baby Albert as they learn the language and culture in Chiba Kanto, Japan—so they can be effective in their ministry for CMS.
Prayers please: for the Parish Nominators and Wardens as they continue the
process of working with the Diocese to find a suitable Priest-in-Charge. The process of appointing new clergy is a long and involved process - and it is extremely important that this be an ongoing prayer point for the entire Gold Coast North community for the weeks and months ahead.
Prayer: Prayer gatherings—simple format, no chatting, no singing, just prayer—
silent or out loud. Held weekly at St Matthews, Tuesdays 8am-8.45am and Thursdays 6.00-6.45am; and at St James Wednesdays 8.30-9.00am. (Contact Don or Stephen if you would like to facilitate similar gatherings).
Baptisms: Please pray for Chase Campbell, his family and
godparents as they prepare to celebrate his baptism today at 12 noon, St Matthew’s - with Reverend Stephen Hooper.
For first time Bible readers we suggest you allow 10 minutes at the same time each day: 3 minutes to make coffee, 1 minute for silent prayer, 3 minutes to read the Bible passage and 3 minutes to pray about your day. If want some help or further suggestions please contact Revd Don Campbell on 0417 190 817 or by email [email protected]

From the Parish Office…. Rosters... Rosters for April are out now. If you have any problems, please refer to
the lovely ladies who assist—ie Pat Schmidt (9am St James); Pat Grant (7.30am St James); Glenda Flood (Welcomers—Holy Rood); Judy Hallewell (M/Tea—Holy Rood); Dee Relph (LAs, Servers, Readers—Holy Rood). Remember to log in to your Elvanto account by the 20th of each month and mark your “unavailability” if you are going away on holidays. This is such a help for us when compiling the rosters. If you don’t have a log in, call the office and we will send you the details. (You do not have to create a new account—you will already be in the system.)
Volunteers... With the wonderful celebration of Easter fresh in our hearts,
reminding us just how much has been done for us…. now would be a great time for people to step forward at each of our centres to volunteer and give some time back to God. Would you be able to assist in any of these areas? Morning teas… Church decoration… Reading… Setting up for services… Children’s ministry… Sound and IT (computer) ministry... Floral Arrangement (St James/Holy Rood)... Welcoming / Sidesperson duties… Music ministry… Prayer ministry… Locking up after services… Maintenance (ie working bees, gardening, general odd jobs)... Please take up the challenge and step up to assist. Ask someone already involved, or one of our priests, deacons or wardens. They would be happy to speak to you about how you may be able to help us minister to others. (If you are interested in becoming an LA you will need to speak to either Don or Stephen).

Easter Day
SENTENCE
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118: 24
COLLECT
God of glory, fill your Church with the power that flows from Christ’s resurrection, that, in the midst of this sinful world, it may signal the beginning of a renewed humanity, raised to new life with Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Baptised and communicant members of other Christian churches professing the Apostolic (or historic Christian) faith are invited to receive Holy Communion. All are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing, whether or not baptised or confirmed.
