SITUATION:
2672 H&PER CC will partake in a field training exercise to complete mandatory training and
complementary training in the field. This is for all star levels. Optional Activities also include, Abseil,
Confidence Challenge Course, and Marksmanship.
MISSION:
This exercise will happen during the weekend of 19-21 April 2013 at Blackdown Cadet Camp. This
exercise will assist to complete star level training as part of a field exercise and allow senior cadets to
further develop their leadership and teaching skills.
EXECUTION:
A: GENERAL OUTLINE: --To be competed in 5 phases:
PHASE 1: - Advance party will arrive at the main entrance at CFB Borden
PHASE 2 – Advance party will receive stores from MSE and QM
PHASE 3 – Remaining staff and cadets will arrive at LHQ, perform kit inspection, and load buses.
PHASE 4 – Remaining staff and cadets will arrive at site location, EXERCISE “Spring Chicken: will begin.
PHASE 5 – Exercise ends, stores returned to detachment, cadets and all return to LHQ.

- Responsible for issuing out all kit needed to perform Exercise effectively.
- Tag all damaged kit before it is returned to QM.

c. Coordinating Instructions
1) Timings: See Annex for complete schedule of weekend.
2) RSM to ensure permission Forms are handed out to cadets on 09 April 2013 or by Social
Media and Website,
3) LHQ AdminO – Collection of Permission forms and nominal role submission to OIC before
departure.
4) Advance party, Capt Bell , SLt Handy, Mrs Orrell. RSM to supply names of 4 Cadets who can
attend NLT 1 week prior to exercise.
5) Inspection of Health Cards, Lt Dodds and escorts, prior to departure from LHQ
6) Instruction, OCdt Saville and Mrs Bell to ensure instructors have required Aids, IG, and QSP
material after planning session is completed and prior to weekend exercise. Follow up to cadet
organization and Lesson Plans.
SERVICE AND SUPPORT
a. Rations: All rations for the exercise will be MRE’s AND Messing. Water to be stored in Gerry
Cans obtained from QM building side tap.
b. Equipment: All equipment will come from Blackdown QM stores. Refer to RSS for list of
requested stores and vehicle rentals. All other stores needed, will be provided by LHQ’s. See
Annex B for LHQ stores.
c. Dress: Dress for the weekend will be combats or suitable civilian attire for spring field training for
cadets. See Annex C for personal kit list. CIC members are to wear CADPAT clothing.
C.I.’s/C.V.’s to wear suitable civilian attire.
d. Transport: 1 x Van for emergency vehicle use, Buses to be ordered by detachment.

designate) of 2672 RCACC Corps to act as Guardian of my cadet while they are in attendance at this exercise. I acknowledge that my
child could/may be sent home at parent expense should a deemed serious code of conduct violation occur as authorized by the

ANNEX C – EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

2.Following emergency procedures are to be followed.
a. Minor Injury – no evacuation required
1. assess the injury
2. notification to be sent to first aid officer, Lt Dodds
3. First Aid officer shall administer first aid as required
4. First Aid officer to complete DND2299 for cadets and CF 98 for staff
5. Notify CO and OPI of the incident
b. Minor Injury—evacuation is required
1. assess the injury
2. notification to be sent to first aid officer Lt Dodds
3. First Aid officer shall administer first aid as required
4. Prepare injured patient for evacuation by land as Authorized by the CO/OPI unless 911
services have been utilized.
5. Aid in transporting injured person to SM Care by vehicle or ambulance based on severity
of injury. Transport Route noted above.
6. Notify CO and OPI of the incident before EVAC if Possible for resource allocation

ANNEX D – Safety Procedures
A. The following general safety procedures shall apply at all times:
1. All personnel shall remain in the training area(s) at all times
2. Food consumption will only occur within the area of HQ or Mess Hall
3. Anyone requiring medical attention will notify the First Aid Officer Lt Dodds.
4. There shall be no feeding or intimidating local wildlife
5. No horseplay or aggressive play will be tolerated
6. All personnel shall consume water and remain hydrated. Gerry cans will be located at HQ
and supply tent.
7. All personnel shall have some form of headdress at all times
8. All personnel shall use sunscreen and bug spray if needed
9. All garbage is to be placed in the provided garbage bags.
10. All recycling is to be placed in provided containers
11. Fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility
12. Care must be taken when working with tools. Safe handling procedures must be followed.
13. Any personnel filling containers, ie stoves & lanterns will do so at the POL point only
14. Do not remove WHIMIS labels from containers or objects
15. No smoking is permitted by cadets on exercise
16. No cell phones will be used during training hours unless in case of emergency.
B. The following work safety procedures are to be strictly enforced:
1. Ensure safe lifting practices are followed, lift with knees and not back
2. Work gloves will be worn by all personnel while conducting maintenance work.
3. When filling stoves lanterns at POL, it must be well ventilated and over an approved spill
container.
4. When using knives, the cut is to be made away from the body. Knife blades are to be
hidden or folded when not in use. Other tools including hammers are only to be used
under supervision of staff members.

ANNEX E – Fire Orders
All staff will read range and fire orders for blackdown training area.
1. Fire Regulations
A. Fires will not be authorized
B. Smoking is not permitted by any cadets on this exercise. Staff will properly dispose of
their cigarettes and will not be in view of cadets
C. A fire extinguisher will be located at the POL point. Additional fire extinguishers will be
located throughout the training areas
2. Fire Fighting
A. Upon discovery of fire, “FIRE FIRE FIRE” is to be called through the area or pull alarm
B. Closest staff members in the area may attempt to fight the fire provided no personal
danger exists
C. All other personnel will RV at RV point designated where roll call will be done.
D. Depending on severity of fire, staff may call 911 and have proper personnel come from
local fire stations.
E. If necessary all personnel will be evacuated from area.
3. Range Control
A Range control radio will be monitored and radio checks done every hour on the Half. Ie.
17:30, 18:30 etc

Annex F – Environmental Procedures
1. All personnel are to act with due diligence to ensure minimal impact on the environment by aiding in
the following.
A. The following activities are banned: cutting of live trees, damaging flora, fauna, or other
live organisms, digging of holes and littering
B. All waste will be collected and disposed of in garbage bags
C. All POL products are to be stored at the POL site and within the provided plastic drip
trays and containers
D. Washroom facilities provided shall be utilized at all times.
2. In the event of a spill the following procedures are to be followed:
A. Remain calm, assess the situation and respond to the incident by utilizing the
environmental spill kit to absorb the spill.
B. Restore the site to it’s original condition by removing contaminated soil and waste.
C. All products are to be clearly labelled as per WHIMIS guidelines
D. Report the incident immediately to the OPI who will notify the appropriate local
authorities and or government agencies.
