    26205 Corrosion Engineering Summer

Description and rationale: The aim of this course is to provide basic knowledge of corrosion and corrosion

protection of metals and alloys from electrochemistry. Thermodynamics and electrochemistry are the basis of

the course and important concepts such as local cell model for corrosion, charge transfer process, and

heterogeneous reaction mechanics are reviewed. On the basis of the knowledge of corrosion phenomena, the

methods are introduced how one can protect metals and alloys against corrosion.

Keyords: Corrosion, Corrosion protection, Electrochemistry, Charge transfer process, Impedance, assivation
