Mar 12 – Present : FORD Motor Company – Engine Engineering, Dagenham Diesel Centre, Essex, UK ( TCE C3P-NG, CATIA V5 – CAD Senior Packaging Engineer & TCE Data Coordinator - Powertrain )

Head packaging engineer for Dragon PFI & GTDI Engine Assembly content in keeping with CDV ( Configured Digital Vehicle ) methods and protocol. Duties are to oversee and manage current released engine part/assy data together with newly revised supplier/FORD data and their new revisions, to import proposal data from suppliers and integrate the CAD models correctly and appropriately into TCE adhering to FORD methods. To create, update, Freeze & Publish and add detailed Variant Conditions to data within Teamcenter where necessary.

Hold high level ‘Configuration Manager Role’ status within TCE, managing BOM data within each CPSC of every Dragon Engine assy variant, working with Precise and Imprecise data, from top level assy’s down through the BOM structure to individual part level. Updating the Dragon Program Node when necessary, adding Project ID’s, configuring engine assemblies and control models manually via DS / DI / FDR creation, manipulation, freezing / publishing. Analysing complexity chart information, to then apply complex coding of Variant conditions and the interpretation of variant’s and methodology to individual DS’s through all levels of engine build phases, to obtain the correct BOM results for each individual Engine Assy. Thus maintaining engine complexity and integrity for the Revision and Variant Rule to work precisely, and as a result, correctly displaying the latest available CAD data within the Quick Launch Engine assemblies. Controlling all engine data from XM prototype, to JOB1+90, as the engine development advances and progresses. Have a comprehensive understanding of engine design and individual part / component design and functionality.

Working within the FORD etracker system, using various CAD resources to package check revised parts, new revisions and assy’s in terms of clearance analysis, interference, Tri-Colour compare mapping, Tooling clearance, section cutting, animated kinematic studies and investigation work, always considering the individual components design rules and regulations where appropriate. Ability to understand Fit & Function of parts, comparing different revision levels with detailed analysis. To fully support the findings, evidence and conclusions in way of producing detailed CAD investigations, PowerPoint presentations, studies, screenshots and tolerance stack-up reports. Updating the etracker reports with successful package sign off or with failure notification, combined with fully documented supporting evidence, facts & figures and package information, for the component engineers and Dragon engineering team to study, make necessary design changes and prove out. To then repeat the above process continually until sign off, when “Complete - NO ISSUES” can be obtained. To attend design reviews and conduct Web-Ex meetings, adding input and opinions, noting component engineer’s comments, requests and proposals. Working closely with component engineers, CAD Designers and vehicle integration teams, at all times.

Over the past 18 months I have assisted many engine programs with the transition, conversion and migration of TCE / CAD data transform, from a NON-CDV program, to, AVBOM methodology and way of working. These include Dragon PFI & GTDI, FOX, FOX Classic, FOX Upgrade, Panther and SIGMA programs, and as consequence have obtained a great deal of knowledge and experience in this method of working, its correct procedures and processes. Have completed official AVBOM training and been granted full access, with the ability to interpret AVBOM LOU’s ( Lines of usage ) complexity charts. Working closely with the FORD Program office, BOM Operations team, Product modellers and AVBOM analysts, to interface smoothly between Engineering, CAD & AVBOM, together with EBOM structure creation, and the resolving of conflicts between BOM ( AVOM & WERS ) and CDV/CAD process. To fully manage and coordinate all communication between UK FORD in house engineering teams and the various CAD resource teams situated within India. To create highly detailed working instructions and presentations, with CAD geometry changes and specifications. Send detailed instructions ( PowerPoint ) to India for the CAD teams to accurately follow and implement. Constant communication with the India teams via WebEx sessions, telephone and email etc. To deal with engineering issues or problem solving and to direct the India CAD design teams to a suitable solution. To coordinate all CAD data to / from FORD via Tce, when dealing directly with suppliers in the UK or Offshore, to utilise OEM/A, importing / exporting CAD geometry within the strict FORD security protocol regulations. Fully responsible for tracking and coordinating all revision levels of Parts ( PIA ), DI's and DS's, updates and overall quality of work, making sure presentations and instructions are fully adhered to and implemented to the CAD before freezing / publishing within Tce. To coordinate all work, backwards / forwards from India, meet strict deadlines as directed within the FORD management team and to attend various Block / DPA / Package reviews. Responsible for coordinating the FORD Multi-Site eTracker system requests for I-DEAS / CATIA Data to be translated, remote imported and migrated into the FORD Dunton Tce database. Utilising IMI2 / OMF (Metaphase) and the PLM software "Teamcentre Engineering" to do so, controlling the imported data from various sites that include Mazda ( Hiroshima ) and Ford ( Merkenich ), and to complete any "ETS - Cad2Cad" translations for the generation of .JT information to be used within Digital Buck. To support the delivery of C3P-NG methods and all imported cross vehicle department data, together with supplier integration and Multi-site Cad data sharing networks. To problem solve / investigate import failures and errors within the design structure of Parts and Assemblies in Tce, I-DEAS or CATIA. ( Contract position )

Working within a small team based at NISSAN UK ( Cranfield ) duties were to organise, manage and improve their I-DEAS CAD design environment. This included streamlining the efficiency of import / export data and overall structure of their current working I-DEAS TDM's. To introduce an improve methods of working with their Japanese counterparts and suppliers. To help establish a "Single Master" common rule throughout the NISSAN design process, and to implement naming convention standards throughout. To organise, structure and co-ordinate I-DEAS design data, ready for the implementation and migration into the forthcoming Teamcentre Engineering ( TCE - C3P NG ) enterprise. Daily duties entailed working within Majenta DMC ( Data Management Centre ) C3P CAD data exchange environment, co-ordinating various design data formats and CAD data transfers To / From Ford and Ford Service Providers. This included, FTP PAH, FDX, IMI Check In/Out, W.I.P Data, PIM / Data Management helpline support. ( Contract position )

Aug. 03 - Dec. 04 : Alcoa Fujikura Ltd. Essex, UK ( CAD Engineer / Systems Administrator )

Initial role was to implement and install an IMI Bridge Link into Ford Motor Company to successfully transfer I-DEAS Data to / from the Ford TDM Vaults. Roles required the co-ordination and management of various CAD to both in-house & external Data Collectors / TDM's and to co-ordinate the successful transfer of data to external clients ( UNIX/Pc.) including Import / Export, File / Data conversions, IMI Bridge ( Pulling and Pushing I-DEAS Data ), Metaphase etc., utilising various CAD Design tools such as I-DEAS, CATIA and EDGS. Duties included supervising and maintaining both UNIX / Pc. platforms and to problem solve any Systems / Software / Hardware issues that may arise.
