Opnieuw werden we los gelaten.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Bochum Germany became a well-known city because of mining, while now the only signs that remind us of this are the mining museum an vaious institutes.
It was here that for the first time the industry managed to cast shapes into steel and for 160 years iron and steel pro-ducts were produced going from church bells to cannons. In 1999, the erea received a new destination with the name West Park.
Landscape Park The West Park in Bochum is starting point of the urban development of the “City-West” in Bochum. The erea symbolizes the development of the city. It is about 75 hectares in size. Its first building was completed and openend in 1999.
In 2006 it got its final from and receives the Federal National Award for integrated urban development and planning in 2009.
All this is built on the grounds of a former steel industry. The industrial use of the area started 1842 with the Mayerschen cast steel factory. The history of the area is literally stored in diffrent layers. Erevy nem development was built on top of the old one.
Eventually after the closure of the production almost all buildings where demolished and the industrial wasteland that remained was covered with spontaneous vegetation.
Very prominent is The Centennial Hall in the centre of the area. The building with the water tower is the landmark and symbol of the valuable industial architectural feature of the area.
Task Descripton West Park Bochum
The Federation that awarded West Park is concerned with the control of the use of land and design of the urban environment. Therefore the Federa-tion emphasizes that the creation and the use of the plant is by strict requirements.
Given the financial crisis it is the city of Bochum that has to convince the Federation that West Park still deserves the price in 2012 given in 2006. The City Government is looking for an image reportage in wich the combina-tion of the architectural value in the
environment emerges in a unique way.
The candidates selected by the City Government are requested to compete in the following task: - Decipt West Park Bochum in a 10-image reportage. - The pictures must be a reflection of the use as a Landscape Park. - The reportage needs to hold at least one cinemagraph.
Cooperation of Evaluators
The members of the jury for the West Park assignment work closely togther with evaluaters of UNESCO. Quality and professionalism displayd in this project will be judge at the same level as in the assignment at Zollverein.
