• Matthias Siepe– Graduate from the University of Freiburg– Trainee at University of Freiburg– Previous experience in South Africa, France and

Switzerland– Strong involvement in research – Strong commitment to STMP committee activities

EACTS representative to TSRA

• TSRA president has contacted the STMP committee in order to establish regular contacts with European trainees

• Mathias Siepe to become liaison member with TSRA

• Financial support may be sought from EACTS for travel expenses

Annual Residents Meeting

• Big success with the lectures and speakers. • Attended by significantly less residents than in

previous years. – Not as strong advertising as in previous– Having to organise the meeting on the Sunday

instead of Monday.

PG Course Plenary Session

• The meeting on Manpower Planning was attended by about 28 people.

• The lectures by Prof Takkenberg and Prof Sergeant were of outstanding quality

Draft Training Programme

• An updated version that had been circulated previously was discussed.

• It was felt that the contribution by members of the committee was now enough and that further opinion and advice should be sought from other quarters.

• Upon review of the draft by a third party it was decided to undertake a thorough revision

Training in New Technologies

• Discussion based on the importance of providing an opportunity for new/future surgeons to familiarized with NT. It was proposed to develop a system of accreditation in NT based on modules of variable duration depending of the area covered.

• Current and planned initiatives on the subject identified.

• It was decided to monitor these initiatives and their applicability to trainees.

Web site

• Continues to be our main mean of communication with trainees

• Less activity than usual due to circumstantial reasons

• Need to improve communication with CTSnet for better integration

• Dr Raffaele De Simone to become ex-officio member of the committee.
