EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: ( As on 01.08.2011)Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.NOTE-I: As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. 44 dated01.03.1995 published in Gazette of India edition dated 08.04.1995, the Degree obtainedthrough open Universities/Distance Education Mode needs to be recognized byDistance Education Council, IGNOU. Accordingly, unless such Degrees had beenrecognized for the period when the candidates acquired the relevant qualification,they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.NOTEII : Candidates who have not acquired/will not acquire the educational qualification andhave documentary evidence from the Board/University in support thereof as on 01.08.2011 willnot be eligible and need not apply. MODE OF PAYMENT: FEE PAYABLE r100 (Rupees One Hundred only)(i) For the candidates sending the application by post: The candidates submitting Paperapplication should pay the fee by means of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps(CRFS)only. CRFS are available at the counter of all Departmental Post Offices of the country. RecruitmentFee Stamps should be pasted on the application form in the space earmarked for the purpose andgot cancelled from the Counter of Post Office of issue with the date stamp of the IssuingPost Office in such a manner that the impression or the cancellation stamp partially overflows onthe Application Form itself, taking care at the same time that the impression is clear and distinct tofacilitate the identification of date and Post Office of issue at any subsequent stage .After getting the Recruitment Fee Stamps cancelled from the Post Office, the candidate mustsubmit their application to the concerned Regional Office/Sub Regional Offices of the Commissionin the usual manner after completing other formalities. (ii) For the candidates submittingtheir applications on-line: The candidates submitting their applications on-line should pay therequisite fee only through State Bank of India challan or using on-line payment facility of StateBank of India. NOTE I: Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. NOTE II:Fee paid by modes other than CRFS for off-line applications and SBI in case of online applicationwill not be accepted and the applications of such candidates will be rejected forthright and thepayment made shall stand forfeited. Possession of these items , whether in use ornot, will be considered as .use of unfair means. in the Examination and appropriate action will betaken by the Commission against such candidates, as per extant policy of the Commission.CANDIDATES SHOULD NOT KEEP MOBILE PHONES ETC. WITH THEM EVEN AFTER SWITCHING ITOFF. NOTE-III: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidatesare, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.SYLLABUS :General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space

    visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminatingobservation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification,arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed totest the candidates abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmeticalcomputation and other analytical functions.General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidates generalawareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also bedesigned to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation andexperience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test willalso include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining toSports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution,and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special studyof any discipline. NOTE: For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting forSCRIBE there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the GeneralIntelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper. English Language & Comprehension: Inaddition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary,grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writingability, would also be tested.(B) SKILL TEST IN STENOGRAPHY: Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the WrittenExamination as may be prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test. It mayalso prescribe qualifying marks in each part of the Written Examination. THE SKILL TEST WILL BEOF QUALIFYING NATURE and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test fordifferent categories of candidates. The candidates will have to appear for the stenography test.The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade =C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade=D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only . The transcription time is afollows:-For Stenographer Grade =D : 50 minutes ( English ) , 65 minutes ( Hindi )For Stenographer Grade =C: 40 minutes ( English ) ,55 Minutes ( Hindi )NOTE: 1. If the candidates do not indicate the medium of STENOGRAPHY TEST in Column No. 1the Application Form, the Commission will consider ENGLISH as the medium of STENOGRAPHYTEST for such candidates and the candidates will not be allowed to change the medium at asubsequent stage. 2. There is no exemption from skill test for any category of candidates. 3.Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenographyand vice versa after their appointment. 4. VH candidates will be required to transcribe the matterin 75 minutes for English Shorthand or in 100 minutes for Hindi Shorthand for the post of StenographerGrade =D and in 70 minutes for English Shorthand test and in 95 minutes for Hindi Shorthand testfor the post of Stenographer Grade =C. 5. The SKILL TEST will be held at the CommissionsRegional/Sub Regional Offices or at other Centres as may be decided by the Commission. 6.Detailed instructions regarding Skill Test will be sent by the concerned Regional/Sub RegionalOffices of the Commission to the candidates called for the Skill Test.9. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO BE COMPLIED BY THE CANDIDATES IN THE WRITTENEXAMINATION :(i) Candidates must write the papers/indicate the answers in their own hand. (ii)In the question papers, wherever necessary, the Metric systems of weights and measures onlywill be used. (iii) Candidates are not permitted to use calculators and other electronic gadgets.They should not, therefore, bring the same inside the Examination Premises / Venue.     will not be adjusted against the reserved share of vacancies. Such SC, ST, OBC and PH candidateswill be accommodated against the general/unreserved vacancies as per their position in theoverall Merit List. The reserved vacancies will be filled up separately from amongst the eligibleSCs, STs, OBCs, and PH candidates which will, thus, comprise of SC , ST, OBC and PH candidateswho are lower in merit than the last general candidate on merit list of unreserved category butotherwise found suitable for appointment even by relaxed standard.An Ex-Serviceman or Physically Handicapped (OH/VH) category candidate who qualifies on thebasis of relaxed standards viz. age limit, experience or qualifications, permitted number of chancesin written examination, extended zone of consideration, etc. is to be counted against reservedvacancies and not against general vacancies subject to fitness of such candidate for selection.Such candidates may also be recommended at the relaxed standards to the extent the number ofvacancies reserved for them, to make up for the deficiency in the reserved quota, irrespective oftheir rank in the order of merit.11.
