SUPER 50/50 The first thing we need to do is get those raffle books on the street so we have a hefty Super 50/50 jackpot next Sunday! The books are available at the rectory.

Tickets are $2 each and there are 10 tickets to a book. Please have a few books on hand for social gatherings — parties, card games, showers, – we need to get that prize going!

If anyone has BRAND new religious items to donate - rosaries, rosary bead cases, religious jewelry, statues, etc. - for our religious article table we would sincerely appreciate that!

But they must be brand new for us to sell. Call Gina: 973-751-4187, if you have any questions.

MARIA SS. ADDOLORATA OFFERING BLANKET Several years ago, we introduced the “Maria SS. Addolorata Offering Blanket” to the Italian Festival. It has proven to be a beautiful acknowledgment of our Sorrowful Mother. A donation on the Offering Blanket brings hope to the ill, is in memory of the deceased, or is offered for a very special intention. On the 2nd Friday of each month, a special Italian Mass in honor of The Devotees of Maria Santissima Addolorata is offered for their

intentions at 7:00 P.M. During the festival, the blanket will be on display in our Italian Café for the entire 4 days. The presentation of the blanket will take place on Saturday evening, during the candlelight procession following the 7:00 PM Mass. If you wish to take part in the Offering Blanket, you may submit your donation to Holy Family Church along with the intention you wish for the blanket. Kindly make your check payable to Holy Family Church, but mark the envelope MEMORIAL BLANKET. As always, the blanket will be a magnificent tribute to Our Lady of Sorrows. For more information, please call Gina Tamburri at 973-751-4187.

MISSION STATEMENT ✝ Holy Family Catholic Church is a spiritually and socially active parish. Rooted in the Word of God and nourished by the Eucharist, we cele-brate the life of our Lord Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Good News and providing spiritual growth, support and service with love. Founded by Italian immigrants a century ago, today our parish continues the tradition of extending a loving, caring and affirming welcome to all who join us as we Continue Our Journey of Faith.

Dear Parishioners: One of the most beloved stories in the Gospels, which is only found in Luke’s Gospel, is the story of the Prodigal Son and the parables of mercy that precede this story. These parables of mercy remind us that God’s incredible mercy far surpasses His justice. In many ways, this story is about a forgiving and loving father who cares deeply and forgives both sons - - the younger for his dissolute life, the older for his self-righteousness. It reminds us that our Heavenly Father always awaits us but also actively seeks us out as did the father in the case of both sons. There is a great consolation in this attitude of our Heavenly Father for we are one of those sons - - either the one who strayed or the one who has remained faithful but easily becomes judgmental or resentful. He meets us both and invites us to embrace the power of His unconditional love.

As I begin my sabbatical, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will, however, see you at the Feast. Let us pray that God will bless us with good weather and give us all the strength to use our fits to honor the Mother of God and to build a sense of community and welcome that is always at our Feast. Peace, Msgr. Paul STEWARDSHIP CORNER “Lani Restaino has a generous heart that is rooted in prayer and in her faith in God. She lives stewardship in so many ways: in sharing her home for choir practice and gathering, in promoting events such as the Danny Byram Concert and, most of all, she reflects stewardship with her joy-filled attitude and smile.” - Msgr. Paul “Lani is a perfect example of someone who supports her Church through time, talent and treasure - and she does so wholeheartedly, without seeking recognition for it. As a choir member over ten years, her voice has developed and through practice, she is a section leader. As a faithful member of music ministry, lasting friendships have developed. Lani is a gem and I am so happy, through Holy Family, she has become a true friend to me, as well. - Susan Loricchio, Director of Music “Were it not for Lani, I would never have discovered the joy of the music ministry. She is one of the kindest, most generous, prayerful people I know, like a second mom to me. - Liliane Emralino, Leader of Song “Lani is such a big help to the choir and it is always a joy singing when she is around.” - Ferdinand Idio, Choir “Warm, loving, thoughtful and giving to all. A heart of gold to all. We are very blessed to be her friend. - Jane Gould, Choir “Lani is born to help and lead; we’re lucky to have her in our choir. Congrats, Lani!” - Rosemarie Akian, Choir “Lani Restaino is a dedicated choir member and a wonderful person. She gives of herself in every aspect of her life and her community. She shares her home with the choir members for practice and joyous occasions. It is a pleasure having Lani in the choir because she shows love and warmth to God and her friends.” - Lucy Collini, Choir “Lani is a wonderful, compassionate woman. She gives her total self to her job with the cerebral palsy children. Joe and give their home for choir practice in the cold winter. Lani loves to give rather than receive. “ - Jo Ann Trezza, Choir

A Message from: Fr. Joseph Ferraro, Administrator My brothers and sisters in the Lord! I take this moment to introduce myself as I begin my ministry as administrator of Holy Family Parish during Msgr. Paul’s sabbatical. It will be a very challenging for all of us since I also continue my ministry as Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua in Belleville. I have met many of you along the way, during the times I have celebrated the Italian Mass

or other celebrations, such as the Mass of Beato Angelo (by the way, the patron of my family roots in Acri, Italy). I will always be grateful to Msgr. Fimiani (a happy memory) for allowing me to have my Ordination reception in the school hall almost 23 years ago. When I was asked to be administrator of Holy Family, one of the first things which popped into my mind were the words from 1 Corinthians 2:9-10; “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has ready for those who love him.” We really don’t know; each moment is a challenge from one to next ..we don’t know what God has in store for us. The good times, as well as challenging times, are necessary for our spiritual and physical growth as we journey together through our faith. All ask is for your prayers, patience and understanding during this time. Peace and prayers, Fr. Joe Ferraro

NOMINATION FOR STEWARD OF THE MONTH

When deciding to nominate a person for the Steward of the Month Award, we should consider the following: The TIME that this person dedicates to parish activities, community events, personal time with

others in need of assistance, spiritual aid and/or companionship. The TALENT that this person offers to the parish and community, willingly and lovingly. The TREASURE this person offers to the parish and community. Has he or she accepted the divine call to extend God’s blessings on those less fortunate through personal sacrificial giving? These are important factors to consider when proposing a person for nomination. Often a prayer to the Holy Spirit is helpful, too, in discerning the name for nomination. Please fill out the nomination form and return it in an envelope marked “Stewardship Committee” to nominate a parishioner as Steward of the Month. ✄-------------------------------------------------------------------------
