    Mounting on a table

    1 Lift and tilt the Monitor set into its uprightposition on a table.

    Leave a 10 cm (minimum) space from the wallfor proper ventilation.

    Using the Kensington security system

    The Kensington security system connector islocated at the back of the Monitor set. For moreinformation of installation and using, refer to the

    manual supplied with the Kensington securitysystem or visit http://www.kensington.com .

    Connect the Kensington security system cablebetween the Monitor set and a table.

    The Kensington security system is optional.You can obtain it from most electronics stores.

    note

    When you adjust the angle, do not hold thebottom of the Monitor set frame as shown onthe following illustration, as may injure your

    fingers.

    Do not touch or press the screen whenadjusting the angle of the monitor.

    Do not hold this set like below picture.Monitorscreen can detach from stand base and injure

    your body.

    USING THE MONITOR SET

    C c i g a PC y Your Monitor set supports Plug & Play*.

    *Plug & Play: A PC recognizes a connecteddevice that users connect to a PC and turnon, without device configuration or userintervention.

    Transmits analog video from your PC to theMonitor set. Connect the PC and the Monitor setwith the supplied D-sub 15 pin signal cable asshown in the following illustrations.

    y Mac adap r For Apple Macintosh use, a separate plug

    adapter is needed to change the 15 pinhigh density (3 row) D-SUB VGA connectoron the supplied cable to a 15 pin 2 rowconnector.

    USING THE MONITOR SET

    y When you want to use two PC in our Monitor,please connect the signal cable(D-SUB/DVI-D) respectively in Monitor set.

    y If you turn the Monitor set on while it is cold,the screen may flicker. This is normal.

    y Some red, green, or blue spots may appear

    on the screen. This is normal.

    y "s lf Imag s i g" Fu c i .This function provides the user with optimaldisplay settings.When the user connectsthe monitor for the first time, this functionautomatically adjusts the display to optimalsettings for individual input signals.(Onlysupported in Analog Mode)

    y AUto Fu c i .When you encounter problems such asblurry screen, blurred letters, screen flickeror tilted screen while using the device orafter changing screen resolution, press the

    AUTO function button to improve resolution.(Only supported in Analog Mode)

    y Connect the signalinput cable and tightenit by turning the screwsclockwise.

    y Do not press the screen with your finger fora long time as this may result in temporarydistortion on the screen.

    y Avoid displaying a fixed image on thescreen for a long period of time to preventimage burn. Use a screensaver if possible.

    CAUtIon Self Image Setting Function

    Press the power button on the bottom panel toturn the power on. When monitor power is turnedon, the " s lf Imag s i g " Function is executed

    automatically. (Only supported in Analog Mode)

    2 Change the value of the menu item by pressing the buttons on the bottom of the Monitor set.To return to the upper menu or set other menu items, use the up arrow ( ) button.

    This function allows you to lock the current control settings,so that they cannot be inadvertently changed.Press and hold the MENU button for several seconds.The message "OSD LOCKED" should appear.You can unlock the OSD controls at any time by pushingthe MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSDUNLOCKED" should appear.

    Use this button to enter MY KEY menu.For more information.( See p.17 )

    Use this button to enter Picture Mode, SUPER ENERGY SAVING, DUAL DISPLAY,DUAL WEB,MY KEY Setting menus. (See p.18 )

    When adjusting your display settings, always press the AUTO button on the MONITORSETUP OSD. (Only supported in Analog Mode)

    Gamma Set your own gamma value. : Gamma 0, Gamma 1, Gamma 2 on the monitor,high gamma values display whitish images and low gamma values displayblackish images.

    Select the screen color.warm: Set the screen to warm color temperature (more red).M dium: Set the screen to medium color temperature.C l: Set the screen to cool color temperature (more blue).

    y Check and see if the power cord is connected properly to the poweroutlet.

    Is the power indicator light on? y Press the Power button.Is the power on and the powerindicator Red?

    y Adjust the brightness and the contrast.

    Is the power indicator flickering? y If the display is in power saving mode, try moving the mouse orpressing any key on the keyboard to bring up the screen.

    y Try to turn on the PC.Do you see an "OUT OF RANGE"message on the screen?

    y This message appears when the signal from the PC (video card) isout of horizontal or vertical frequency range of the display. See the'Specifications' section of this manual and configure your displayagain.

    Do you see a "NO SIGNAL"message on the screen?

    y When the monitor is on "No-Signal" in 5 minutes, the monitor goes toDPM mode.

    Do you see OSD LOCKED whenyou push MENU button?

    y You can secure the current control settings, so that they cannot beinadvertently changed. You can unlock the OSD controls at any timeby pushing the MENU button for several seconds: the message OSDUNLOCKED will appear.

    Display Position is incorrect. y Press the AUto button to automatically adjust your display image tothe ideal setting.

    On the screen background, verticalbars or stripes are visible.

    y Press the AUto button to automatically adjust your display image tothe ideal setting.

    Any horizontal noise appearing inany image or characters are notclearly portrayed.

    y Press the AUto button to automatically adjust your display image tothe ideal setting.

    to the recommended resolution or adjust the display image to the idealsetting. Set the color setting higher than 24 bits (true color).

    y Check if the signal cable is properly connected and use a screwdriverto fasten if necessary.

    Make sure the video card is properly inserted in the slot. y Set the color setting higher than 24 bits (true color) at C r l Pa l

    s i g .The screen blinks. y Check if the screen is set to interlace mode and if yes, change it to the

    recommend resolution.

    Have you installed the displaydriver?

    y Be sure to install the display driver from the display driver CD (ordiskette) that comes with your display. Or, you can also download thedriver from our web site: http://www.lg.com.

    Make sure to check if the video card supports Plug&Play function.

    y Check C r l Pa l Di play s i g and see if the frequency or the resolution were

    changed. If yes, readjust the video card to the recommend resolution. y If the recommended resolution (optimal resolution) is not selected, letters may be blurred and the

    screen may be dimmed, truncated or biased. Make sure to select the recommend resolution. y The setting method can differ by computer and O/S (Operation System), and resolution mentioned

    above may not be supported by the video card performance. In this case, please ask to the computeror the video card manufacturer.
