l i n k c o n f e r e n c e 2 0 1 6 It is with great pleasure that we announce the first British Columbia Electrical Association (BCEA) LINK Conference that will be

held on November 2 and 3, 2016 at the Fairmont Waterfront.

The LINK conference was created to provide a forum for leaders in the electrical industry to learn, share, and practice the four

strategic pillars of the BCEA:

L E A D E R S H I P, I N T EG R I T Y, N E T W O R K I N G A N D K N O W L E D G E .

We are proud to offer this two day conference that will host acclaimed speakers on topics relevant to our industry and your

business, provide facilitation of business meetings, and create multiple networking opportunities.

Attendees will include leaders in the Electrical Industry from, engineers, contractors, manufacturers and distributors.

E D U C AT I O N

The educational portion of the conference consists of the

following speakers:

Patricia Mohr, Global Growth Outlook, Dean Kaardal, En-

gineers Providing Value, Cori Maedel. Coaching and Lead-

ership, Pook-Ping Yao, Smart Buildings with the Internet

of Things Technology, Jim Taggart, The Future of the Elec-

trical Contractor, Laurie Sterrit, Developing Aboriginal

Relations , Bill Good, Political Pulse.

In addition to the speakers, there are two opportunities

to attend Dale Carnegie courses. A Network Like a Profes-

sional Course will be offered on day one and a Leading

Across Generations on day two. We encourage you to

sign up for these courses expeditiously, as space is lim-

ited..

B U S I N E S S

Reserved planning meetings will be conducted for three

hours both afternoons. The sessions will be 30 minute busi-

ness meetings with Manufacturer’s and their representa-

tives booking booth space or a private room. This time may

be used to plan 2017 initiatives, discuss industry segment

plans, target account planning, marketing initiatives, product

development and announcements, or meet with potential

new partners and customers. Booth meetings will be coordi-

nated through the BCEA office based on invitations. More

information about this structure is available, so please ask

one of the committee members for assistance.

N E T W O R K I N G

We encourage everyone to spend time getting to know

each other, and the future leaders of our industry. Breaks

and lunches are good times to meet new people and ex-

change thoughts and ideas from the speaker’s sessions.

In addition to breaks, a networking function has been

coordinated for November 2 from 4:30 to 7:00. We look

forward to seeing you there!

The LINK Conference 2016 has two exciting options for you to train with Dale Carnegie.

Option 1 ($30)

If you are registered for the LINK Conference, employees within your company that are under 40 are wel-

come to attend the Dale Carnegie Networking Workshop taking place on day one. This 90 minute presenta-

tion will cover how to make a stronger first impression, how to approach networking events, learn and prac-

tice tools that help initiate conversations and building rapport with people you meet for the first time.

Following this presentation, we welcome them to join us at the Reception to network with all conference

Option 2 ($100)

Dale Carnegie presents “Leading across the generations” on day two between 1pm—4pm. Attendees will

learn to identify the 4 generations in a workplace, understand values, issues and factors effecting each gen-

eration, practice a tool to build positive relationships, challenge preconceptions, discover how to relate to

other generations, earn trust of each generation through respect, resolve generational conflicts, coach mem-

bers of each generation to peak performance, develop cross-generational relationships, give feedback that

resonates with all generations and apply 9 ways to change behavior without creating resentment.
