    As the saying goes,

    “We ain’t getting any

    younger!” Put differ-

ently, every day we get closer

to our last day on the earth

and for most of us we would

rather not drop dead at our

job site. From the first day we

    started in the working world

    we’ve had financial goals and

aspirations. For some it was to

    move out of our parent’s

house. Others wanted to buy a

car or their first home; for

    others still, the goal might

    have been to pay-off debt

    incurred by school loans or

    credit card purchases that

    cannot even be remembered.

    The bigger picture of “living

on less” to save more for

retirement, was a distant 2ndor 3rd place on the financial

priority list, if it even made

    the list at all.

    “I’ll seriously start funding my

    retirement plan with my next

    bonus, raise, or tax-refund

check.” “I know I should par-

    ticipate in the company 401k

    plan, but even though they

    would match my contribu-

tions, things are just too tight

    right now.” “But retirement is

so far away, it’s not even in my

field of vision.” “My kids are

starting college in a few years

and I need to start saving for

that.” Were any of these irra-

    tional explanations for failure

    to implement or increase

    funding to a retirement plan

or to work with a financial

    advisor uttered by you?

In my 35 year career I’ve

heard all of these excuses and

    even more variations and jus-

    tifications for not contribut-

    ing to a retirement plan.

    According to the 2013

    Retirement Confidence Sur-

    vey, 40% of all American

    workers think they need to

    accumulate at least $500,000

    by the time they retire.

    However, an alarming 76% of

    Americans have saved less

    than $100,000 for retirement

and more than half saved less

    than $25,000! These facts are

    more than disturbing, they

will prove to be devastating to

    these ill-prepared families and

    with life expectancies grow-

ing, it will be a multi-genera-

tional, as well as a govern-

    mental issue, with major con-

    sequences.

Firstly, $500,000 is far too lowa figure to base your retire-

    ment on. Secondly, will your

    children be financially capa-

    ble to handle the additional

    responsibility of providing for

    their parent’s mouths to feed,

clothes they wear and the roof

    over their heads? Should they

have to? I haven’t even men-

    tioned sickness or long-term

    care needs. It concerns me

that people you and I know,

will never be able to retire,

    simply because they won’t be

able to afford to do so. I

    believe the reason is they

    never took the importance

    and concept of retirement

    seriously. I cannot totally hold

    the individual responsible

    however; the school system,

    the government and employ-

    ers are all additionally and

    partially to blame.

    But, the majority of responsi-

bility falls on the individualhim or herself, to be prepared

    for their own financial future,

    wouldn’t you agree? Blame

can only be thrown so far

    before it boomerangs back to

us. It’s easy to blame, but in

the end, it comes back to my

    famous statement that, “in

    life, everyone is exactly where

they planned to be!” If you

    have no retirement plan, you

    will probably get everything

you planned for – nothing! A

bad retirement plan as well as

    a good retirement plan, will

    yield a result and something

    is better than nothing.

    Therefore it is incumbent

upon each of us to implement

    an investment plan, to con-

tinue to fund it during all eco-

    nomic environments and to

    monitor and modify the plan

    as time passes making what-

    ever changes are necessary to

stay the course, to reach the

goal of financial independ-ence and be able to retire

    with a lifetime income, stress

    free and guaranteed.*

    The earlier one starts their

    retirement mindset and plan,

generally, the easier it is to

    accomplish. The best age to

do this is at birth, with the

help of a parent or grandpar-

ent. If that is or was unavail-

    able, contributions should

    begin upon receiving your first

    paycheck. If not then, than

    now, with a commitment to

    invest as frequently as possible

    with the knowledge that this

    account is segmented for the

    long-term and is not a

Christmas Club or a put it in

    and take it out account.

    Retirement plan investment

allocations will not be dis-cussed in this article. My

    emphasis, is the importance of

    having the discipline and

    commitment to practice sys-

    tematic investing until your

    “Retirement Day” is upon

you! The two final steps of

    retirement planning are to

    guarantee* the retirement

plan income for the rest of

    your and your spouse’s lives

    and to tax-efficiently pass-on

    the assets to your children.

    Folks, June is National Life

    Insurance Awareness Month.

Now would be a good time to

    review your life insurance

    policies and to re-examine

    your Will and other estate

    planning documents. For an

    honest and independent opin-

ion, I offer my assistance inexamining your policies to

determine if an upgrade is pos-

sible with no cost nor obliga-

tion. All you need do is call

    my office for an appointment

and bring them in with you

for analysis. You may be sur-

    prised with the enhancements

    and improvements that are

    available in the industry

Summer Slide” is a termparents may hear at

    the end of the school

year. No, it doesn’t have any-

    thing to do with playground

    activities. Rather, “summer

    slide” refers to knowledge

    gained during the school year

that may be lost over the

    duration of summer break.

    The National Summer

    Learning Association says

    many students lose about two

    months of grade-level equiv-

    alency in math computation

    skills over the summer.

    Students tend to score lower

    on standardized tests after

    summer vacation than they

do when the same tests are

taken at the onset of summer.

Minds left to sit idle can

    haunt children when it’s time

    to return to the classroom.

    But parents who engage kids

    throughout the summer and

    reinforce educationally sound

    activities can prevent sum-

    mer slide.

    Make vacations educa-

    tional. Visit a locale kids

    have studied in class and

    explore its culture and tradi-

    tions.

Offer plenty of readingmaterials. Reading can

    expand children’s minds and

    help them build and main-

    tain their vocabulary.

    Ask teachers for work

    packets. Students can stay on

top of their studies by doing

    some light schoolwork

    throughout the summer. This

    can reinforce lessons kids

    have already learned and

    keep their minds sharp.

    Purchase a journal.

    Encourage kids to write about

    their summer adventures in a

    journal. Chances are their

    teachers will ask about sum-

    mer vacations and may

    require an essay when stu-

    dents return to school.

    Our kids are growing

up in a world that we

    could have never

    imagined. It distracts and

derails men in so many waysand all too often it is our chil-

dren that suffer. We need to

    understand the main role dads

can and should be filling in

    their children’s lives. What

    Father’s SAY can determine

    their child’s WAY. That being

said, on this Father’s Day give

the gift of blessing to your

    children, whatever age they

may be. Are you ready? Here are 3 easy steps to

    make the Change…

    ENGAGE: Understand the

    power of a blessing

    ENCOURAGE: Bless your

kids or a child in need

    EQUIP: Now mentor them

    Some of us have received

    blessings, many of us have

not. What is this thing called

    “a blessing.” It’s not complex.It’s straightforward. It’s a word

of approval. It’s a word of sup-

port. It’s a word that bestows

    confidence, hope, and a sense

    of well-being. It’s a word that

    brings affirmation. It’s a word

that allows a young child or a

    man to move forward boldly,

    humbly, but with courage and

    confidence into the future. It’s

a word that says, “You are amasterpiece that has been cre-

ated for a unique purpose in

this life.” It’s a word that helps

    our children, our family, our

    friends, and those we work

    with know they are valuable

    and fashioned for something

    special in this life.

    When we look around

    and see people that are

excelling in life, much of thetime but not always, we will

find folks who come from a

    background where they had a

    loving, supportive, encourag-

    ing family that continually

    spoke words of blessing, like

    those noted above, into their

    lives. In essence, they were

told they could do anything in

life they set their heart and

mind to, and this was not con-tingent on the family’s finan-

    cial stature. To the contrary,

    studies have been done and

    we understand the large

    majority of super successful

    Fireworks can be a won-

    der to behold... for

    humans. Pets, however,

may not be so enamored with

    the booms, crashes and bumps

    in the night.

    Dogs, cats, even small

    rodents often become crea-

    tures of habit. They like

    knowing they are secure and

    what’s to come next. Surprises

    and extraordinary events can

    put pets on edge.

    Loud noises often

    spook pets. Everything from

    noisy trucks to thunderstorms

    to low-flying airplanes may

scare a pet, possibly leading to

    unpredictable behavior.

    Summer can induce anxiety

    in pets, especially when peo-

    ple celebrate with fireworks

    and boisterous parties.

    Many cats and dogs will

    try to hide when they

    hear fireworks or other loud

    noises. Pet parents can play

off of this behavior and create

    safe sanctuaries to which

their pets can retreat to ride

out the “rockets’ red glare andbombs bursting in air.” The

following are a few tips to

    reduce pet anxiety when night

    falls and fireworks start going

    off.

    Set up a comforting den.

If your dog or cat sleeps in a

crate, cage or a special nook

in the house, use this area to

    establish a safe haven. Put

    comfortable pillows or mats

on the floor and envelop the

    cage or spot with blankets.

    These items will help mask

the sights and sounds of out-

doors. Put in familiar toys or

even one of your shirts to

    establish familiar and com-

    forting scents.

    Keep the windows closed

    and the drapes drawn.

    Minimize what cats and dogs

can see or hear. If they don’t

know what is occurring out-side, they likely won’t be

    frightened. However, many

    pets have very good hearing,

so some of the louder fire-

    works might still be audible.

    Put on soothing music.

Throw on a show or songs

    that have steady, repetitive

    beats. This, too, will help

    mask the unpredictable

    sounds of fireworks.

    Walk the pet in early

    evening. Make sure you walk

your dog prior to sunset to

    reduce the likelihood of get-

    ting caught outdoors with fire-

works being set off. If pets are

allowed to roam in the yard, bring them inside before the

    sun sets.

    Don’t punish the pet.

    Stressed pets may soil indoors,

cower, fail to respond to com-

    mands, or engage in destruc-

    tive behavior. It is important

not to admonish the pet sim-

Plus, wehave over 28 years of experience in thegreen industry. We are the leaders in thepoison ivy removal industry withmemberships in the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association andthe Rockland County Professional Landscape Association.

PHILOSOPHY Poison Ivy Gone employs a highly trained staff to help with the removal andmaintenance of poisonous plants on your property. Based in Oakland, NJ, our staff is readily available for dispatch to your location. Poison Ivy Gone covers theentire Tri-State area and offers freeconsultation for any local poison ivy

    removal job.

    TO USE

i|xãá The reason that people get

a rash from poison ivy is

the Urushiol Oil that is in

the plant. A drop of that

oil, smaller than a grain of salt, can cause

an infection for most people. The reason

that you got a rash from “dead” poison

ivy is because the oil can stay active for

up to five years, even in a dead plant.

Not only does it stay active in the vine

and stems of the plant but it will stay

active on tools and other objects. If

Urushiol Oil gets on your garden tools

it will remain active for years and give you

a new infection every time you use those

tools in the future. To prevent new

    infections it’s very important to

thoroughly clean tools, shoes, clothes, and

anything else that comes in contact with

poison ivy. Poison ivy can also be

hazardous to you if you have pets. Dogs,

for example do not get poison ivy but the

Urushiol Oil gets on their fur, you pet the

dog, you get infected with poison ivy.

Our technicians will identify the poison ivy

on your property, try to determine where

it’s coming from, and tell you the best way

to eliminate it and prevent it from

returning. We remove poison ivyby hand because it is the safest,

most effective way to control and

    eliminate the

    problem.

     A.

Our crews remove poison ivy without harming other plants on your landscape.

Father’s Day is right around the corner, and the

time has come once again to begin searching for

a gift for dear old dad. Father’s Day gift shoppers

have long since abandoned the notion that a new neck-

tie is what dad really wants, but finding a gift thatexpresses your love and appreciation for the old man can still prove somewhat challenging.

Oftentimes, the best gifts are the ones that fulfill a need or want, and Father’s Day gifts are no

exception. The following are a handful of Father’s Day gift ideas for dads whose hobbies run the

    gamut.

Dads who can’t get enough of their favorite teams would no doubt appreciate some new gear or

ily affair, as dad would no doubt appreciate an afternoon at the ballpark with his kids and/or grand-

kids. For a father who no longer lives in the market where his teams play, consider purchasing a

streaming service or television package that allows the old man to see his favorite team no matter

    where he’s living.

    THE MOVIE MOGUL

Some dads simply can’t get enough of the silver screen, and a streaming service that allows dadto watch many of his favorite movies on demand from the comforts of home might make the per-

fect gifts for film-loving fathers. Services like Netflix and Amazon Prime offer hundreds of titles, and

monthly or yearly subscriptions cost relatively little money.

    THE OUTDOORSMAN

Fathers who love the great outdoors might appreciate some new camping gear, a new fishing pole

or even some comfortable hiking boots. When shopping for the outdoorsman in your life, consider

which outdoor activity is his favorite (i.e., boating, fishing, kayaking, etc.) and try to find the latest

useful gadget or newest product made for such enthusiasts. If you don’t share the same passion

for the great outdoors and are hesitant to buy something you’re unsure about, a gift certificate to

an outdoorsman or sporting goods store will suffice.

    THE DOTING GRANDFATHER

Some men simply want to spend more time with family, especially grandfathers who never tire of

afternoons with their grandchildren. If dad has retired and moved away, a trip to see his grandkids

might make the ideal gift this Father’s Day. Arrange the dates with mom so you are not surprising

dad with a trip at a time when he already has plans, and make sure to schedule some fun activi-

ties for those days when dad is in town.

Father’s Day is a time each year when dads are told how much they are loved and appreciated.

This year, a gift that implies both those sentiments is sure to make dad smile.

ply because he or she is scared.

Doing so may only make the

    situation worse.

    Don’t comfort the pet,

either. It may be tempting to

sit and cuddle a dog or cat

    and reassure him that every-

    thing will be alright. This

    fawning over the pet may

    only help to reinforce nega-

    tive behavior and the pet’s

    inability to overcome the

    fears himself.

Talk to the vet. If fears

    are paralyzing your pet, talk

to the veterinarian to see if

    behavior therapy or short-

    term medication use may help

    assuage fears. Some vets pre-

    scribe a mild tranquilizer to

    help pets get through specif-

    ic fireworks displays.

Because fear can causeskittishness, many pets end

    up running away from home

    during summer fireworks dis-

plays. It is imperative to keep

    identification on your pets at

all times so they can be

    returned promptly if found.

    With the rise of the

    “staycation,” more

    and more home-

    owners are turning their back-

    yards into their own private

    oases. The centerpiece of

    many such retreats is a

    refreshing and inviting pool.

    Whether above-ground or in-

    ground models, pools make for

    welcoming spots to enjoy

warm days and nights. A new

pool can quickly turn a yard

into the “it” spot to spend

vacations or cool off at the

    end hot summer days. While

    pools are often the focal

    point of a backyard, many

    homeowners want their

    pools to blend seamlessly

with the rest of their yards.

    When transforming a back-

    yard that includes a pool,

    homeowners should consider

a few factors to ensure each

    afternoon spent poolside is as

safe as it is fun.SAFETY FIRST

    Although the goal may

be to soften the lines of the

    pool and/or create sight barri-

    ers that will provide some

    measure of privacy for swim-

    mers, homeowners must put

    safety above all else. Before

    any decorative touches are

added, it is important to sur-

    round a pool with a slip-resist-

    ant surface and fencing (many

    communities require fences be

    erected around pools).

    Consult with a landscaping

    contractor, who should be

    knowledgeable about safety

codes, or speak to the permit-

    issuing department at town

hall. There should be a list of

    requirements to ensure pool

placement as well as any sur-rounding touches are legal

    and within code.

    NONSLIP SURFACES

    Concrete, brick and

    pavers and decking are popu-

    lar materials used to surround

    a pool. Installers can make

    recommendations on materi-

als and finishes, but one sug-

gestion is to choose a rough

    finish. Pool water can make

    surfaces slippery. Concrete

that is stamped or scarred pro-

    vides extra traction than a

    smooth surface. The same can

be said for brick patios and

    pavers. Avoid smooth stones

    or pavers with shiny surfaces,

as these may only increase the

    risk of falls.

    Homeowners who have

chosen wood or compositedecking to surround a pool

    should talk to their contractor

    about nonslip protective coat-

    ings. Such coatings typically

    are acrylic-based liquids

applied like a paint or sealer.

    Some composite decks may be

crafted with texture or a built-

    in coating to reduce slipping.

    In addition, use nonstick mats

on decks and patios to provide

    a little extra footing where

    people enter and exit the

    pool.

    MULCH AND STONE

    Homeowners often pre-

    fer some combination of

mulch or stone to serve as a

    transition between the pool,

    concrete or paver hardscape

and the lawn. Stone may be

more practical for those within-ground pools because it will

not easily blow onto the water

    surface. With an above-

    ground pool, mulch or stone

can do the trick, serving as a

barrier so that pool water does

    not overly drench the sur-

    rounding lawn or damage

    grass after exposure to pool

    chemicals. Mulch and stone

    also will provide drainage

    from water runoff from the

    pool and rain.

    Another advantage of

    having an additional barrier

between the pool and lawn is

that lawn clippings will not be

shot into the pool when mow-

ing. Stone and mulch can be

    dressed up with statues, lawn

    ornaments and tolerantplants.

     FINISHING TOUCHES

    Plants can provide the

    finishing touches for a pool-

    side landscape. Homeowners

    should keep in mind that

    pools are not often shaded

from the sun, so plants placed

around the pool will need to

    be sun- and drought-tolerant.

    Succulents, such as aloe and

jade, may work, as can the

    perennial shrub yucca.

    Moderately growing grasses

    will offer a privacy barrier.

    Keep trees and flowering

    plants far enough away from

the pool’s edge so they do not

    contribute to debris that falls

into the pool, which can com-

    plicate maintenance. Also,

    flowering plants may attract

insects and other wildlife thatmay interfere with your enjoy-

ment of the pool. It’s better to

    create a friendly environment

    for wildlife further away from

    the pool.

    Homeowners who need

    some advice planning the

    landscaping around their

pools can rely on the expertise

    of landscape architects as well

as employees at lawn and gar-

    den centers. Pool companies

    may work with landscapers

    and offer recommendations to

    people unaccustomed to

    working around pools.

The 4th of July is fast

    approaching and rev-

    elers across the nation

    are preparing to toast their

    independence with family and

    friends. For many Americans,

    backyard barbecues are syn-

    onymous with the Fourth

of July, a day that, in the

    United States of America,

    commemorates the adoption

    of the Declaration of

Independence by the SecondContinental Congress on

     July 4, 1776.

    Precious few Americans

can say they have not been

present at a 4th of July barbe-

    cue or witnessed a fireworks

    display honoring America’s

    official declaration of inde-

    pendence from Great Britain.

    Hosting a July 4th barbecue

for the first time may have

some hosts anxious aboutthrowing a summer soirée to

remember, but fun is sure to

be had if hosts remember to

    include the following back-

    yard barbecue essentials this

    Independence Day.

     FOOD

     No Fourth of July barbe-

    cue is complete without food,

so hosts should be sure to

stock up on popular barbecuefare like hot dogs and ham-

    burgers. Though such foods

    likely won’t be mistaken for

    gourmet fare anytime soon,

    Fourth of July revelers often

    embrace the tradition of

grilling up some hot dogs and

    hamburgers even if they tend

    to avoid such foods through-

out the rest of the year. Hosts

    should not feel pressured to

provide gourmet fareon July 4th, but it is a

    thoughtful gesture to ask

guests in advance if they have

any food allergies or need to

    avoid certain foods for other

    reasons.

    BEVERAGES

    It goes without saying

    that guests will need refresh-

    ing beverages at parties held

in early July, but be sure to

stock up on a variety of bever-

ages so guests are not forced to

    consume drinks they don’t

want. Be sure to have plenty

of water available to guests, and provide sodas, iced tea

    and lemonade as well. Offer

    alcoholic beverages to adult

    guests, but don’t go overboard

    stocking up on alcohol, as

    that might encourage guests

    to overindulge.

    GAMES

    Backyard barbecues are

    most fun when guests are

    entertained, so plan to have

    some games available for

    guests of all ages. Encourage

guests to bring a change of

    clothes or swimsuits if games

    will involve water or some-

    thing that might soil their

clothing. If you have a pool,

    purchase some pool games so

    swimmers can do more than

just wade in the water or take

a few laps. Plan a Wiffle® ballgame for kids and dig some

horseshoe pits or buy a ring

toss set so adults can engage in

    some friendly competition as

    well.

    SAFETY

    Though no one wants to

think of a 4th of July celebra-

tion taking a turn for the

    worst, hosts must prepare for

    emergencies. Restock the

    first-aid kit if necessary and

keep a constant eye on guests,

    especially children, to ensure

everyone is having a safe and

happy time. Program a list of

    local taxi companies into your

phone so you can easily call

    for transportation should any

guests have too much to drink

    during the festivities. Hosts

should abstain from alcohol sothey can serve as designated

driver should the need arise at

    the end of the night.

    Backyard barbecues are a

staple of July 4th, and there’s

    no reason your summer soirée

can’t be one to remember for

    years to come.

    Tiny houses are a recent

    phenomenon and have

    spurred many business-

es - from builders to decorating

    experts - looking to connect

    with consumers who want to

    go small. The small house

    movement advocates for living

simply in small homes, some of

which can be as small as 100

    square feet or less.

    Although living in a tiny

house is not for everyone, many people prefer small-space

living to living in larger, more

    spacious homes and apart-

    ments. For those looking to

make the most of their small

living spaces, there are ways to

    make such living arrangements

    feel larger.

    Light is your friend.

    Establish adequate lighting in

a room that includes at least

    three working lights. Varied

    light sources from different

    angles will eliminate dark

    corners and shadows that can

    make a space feel smaller.

    Lighting also can draw the

eye where you want it and

    distract attention from the

    room’s flaws.

    Make use of vertical

space. Homes where space is ata premium may have limited

    storage areas. An often-over-

    looked storage option is verti-

    cal space. Space above doors,

    shelving, and areas above cabi-

netry are ideal places to store

items. Use hooks on walls to

    keep belongings off the floor.

    Choose light-colored

    paint. Choose lighter hues for

    your home furnishings and wall

colors. You do not have to limit

    this to white (unless landlords

    require white walls). Pale col-

ors will help reflect light and

can make the room seem larger

than it really is. Using a dark

color on the flooring can make

    other lighter shades really pop

    in contrast.

    Conceal the clutter. If you

cannot keep personal belong-ings to the utmost minimum in

    a home, experiment with

clever ways to keep items out of

    sight. Furniture that serves dual

    purposes can help with this

    task. Storage ottomans will

    conceal small toys or linens

    and also provide seating

options in a room when guests

come over. A dresser can be

used as a dining room buffet

    piece, and the numerous draw-

ers can hold knickknacks or sil-

    verware. Furniture with built-

in, hidden storage is well worth

    the investment when living

    spaces are limited.

    Create dual-purpose

    rooms. Lack of space means

    getting creative with the space

you do have. A nook in your

bedroom can be devoted to aminiature home office. Perhaps

    you can establish a crafting

center in a portion of your

    laundry room. Garages have

    long served as catch-all spaces

    in homes. Apart from storage,

    they can be subdivided for

home gyms or even a place to

    gather and watch a ballgame.

    Hang mirrors to

    “expand” rooms. Mirrors can

    trick the eye into believing

there is more space in a room.Mirrors melt away room bor-

    ders and can accelerate the

    flow of light. Hanging them

    throughout your home can

    make spaces seem larger.

    Think about built-in fur-

    niture. Traditional furniture

may not be practical for small

spaces and can waste a lot of

    room. Custom-built furniture

is often the way to go to max-

imize the area you do have.

Employ a little do-it-yourself initiative as well, customizing

    items for the perfect fit.

    Work with a designer. If

    you’re having difficulty mak-

ing a small space work for you,

    consult with an interior

    designer or a contractor for

    some ideas.

    The 2nd Annual

    CASA Superhero

    Run will begin at

    8:30am

    Get your Superhero cos-

    tume ready and join friends

    and family for the 2nd

    Annual CASA Superhero 4

Mile Run & Walk at Garret

    Mountain Reservation in

    Woodland Park. Wear your

    cape, mask, t-shirt, emblem

    or Superhero costume to

    compete for the ‘Superhero

    Costume Contest’. Passaic

    County CASA encourages

    that you become a real-life

superhero for a day to show

    abused & neglected children

    that you care.

This event is to be held

on August 15 at 8:30am. The

    Superhero Run’s goal is to

    raise much-needed funding

    to support the work of

    CASA volunteers in Passaic

County as well as raiseawareness for the plight of

    abused and neglected chil-

    dren. CASA volunteers give

    abused and neglected chil-

dren a voice in court and

    advocate for them until they

    find safe and permanent

    homes where they can

    thrive. The CASA

    Superhero Run encourages

    runners to dress as super-

    heroes to further instill the

    notion that every child needs

    a hero. All participants age

12 and under will receive a

    commemorative Superhero

    cape while adults will receive

a T-Shirt. Capes will also be

    available for purchase. The

    family event includes a 4-

    mile run/walk (certified and

sanctioned as part of the“Grand Prix Series” by the

    USATF-NJ) and a 1-mile

    run/walk for kids and fami-

    lies. This event includes a

    costume contest and several

    post race activities for kids.

Prizes will be awarded to the

    top three male and female

    finishers in the 4-mile

run/walk for kids, as well as

    the top three male and

    female finishers by age cate-

    gories.

    Additional sponsors are

    sought- please email

    [email protected]

    for more information.

    “In order to train and

    supervise CASA volunteer

    advocates to protect the

    abused and neglected youth

of our county, we need finan-cial support from all mem-

    bers of our community,” said

    Erica Fischer-Kaslander,

    Executive Director of Passaic

    County CASA. “Last year’s

    Superhero Run was an amaz-

ing success and we are excit-

ed to bring it to the commu-

nity again this year. We are

    looking forward to the

    opportunity to partner with

    many other groups in an

    effort to raise additional

    funding and awareness for

    child abuse in our county.

    Each year it costs approxi-

    mately $2,000 to supervise

    one CASA volunteer and

    approximately $300 to train

    each CASA volunteer. With

this run, we hope to be able

to train and supervise manymore volunteers.”

    hero Run, go to www.run
