Father, Hear our prayers for Maria and Ian

who today are united in marriage before your altar.

Give them blessing and strengthen their love for each other.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,

your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God for ever and ever.

First Reading

A reading from the Book of Tobit;

Love is always patient and kind; Love is not jealous or envious,Never boastful or proud, never rude or selsh.

The Rite of Marriage

Fr. Slingo: Maria and Ian, you have come to this

Church so that the Lord may seal your love in

The presence of the priest and this community.

Christ blesses this love. He has alreadyConsecrated you in baptism; now, by a special

Sacrament, He strengthens you to full the

Duties of your married life. Maria and Ian

You are about to celebrate this sacrament.

Have you come here of your own free

Will and choice without compulsion to marry each other?

Both: We have

Fr. Slingo: Will you love and honour each other, in

Marriage, all the days of your lives?

Both: We will.

Fr. Slingo: Are you willing to accept, with love, the

Children God may send you and bring them up

In accordance with the law of Christ and His

Fr. Slingo: Since it is your intention to enter into marriage,

join your right hands, and declare your consent before God

Blessing and Exchange of the rings

Fr. Slingo: Alighty God, bless these rings, symbols of

Faithfulness and unbroken love. May Maria

and Ian always be true to each other, may theybe one in heart and mind, may they be united in

love forever, through Christ, our Lord.

Bidding Prayers

Fr. Slingo: In the love of man and wife, God shows us a

wonderful reection of his own eternal love.

Today Maria and Ian have dedicated themselves to

one another in unending love. They will share with another

all that life brings. Let us ask God to bless them in the

years ahead, and to be with them in all the circumstances

of their marriage.

Fr. Slingo: Christ is present to Maria and Ian in this Sacrament of Matrimony.

We pray that he will continue to make his presence

felt throughout their lives.

Lord, hear us.All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Fr. Slingo: May the grace given to Maria and Ian in this Sacrament

of Matrimony be always active in them. May it inspire

them when life seems dull and strengthen them in times of trial.

May it give them understanding in moments of tension,

and ll them with gratitude when all goes well.

Wedding Blessing

My dear friends, let us ask God

for his continued blessing upon this bridegroom and his bride Maria and Ian.

All pray silently for a short while.

Holy Father, creator of the universe,

Maker of man and woman in your own likeness,

Source of blessing for married life,

we humbly pray to you for this woman

who today is united with her husband in this sacrament of marriage.

May your fullest blessing come upon her and her husband

so that they may together rejoice in your gift of married love(and enrich your Church with their children).

Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy

and turn to you in their sorrows.

May they be glad that you help them in their work

and know that you are with them in their need.

May they pray to you in the community of the Church,

and be your witnesses in the world.

May they reach old age in the company of their friends,and come at last to the kingdom of heaven.
