Zoning AdministratorThe Town of Pawlet, Vermont is now accepting Letters of Interest (LOI) for the position of part-time Zoning Administrator. The position requires an individual of experience with Town administrative duties pursuant to Vermont Statutes Title 24 to administer, implement, and enforce town zoning permitting and by-laws enforcement. The position will entail assisting applicants in the process of obtaining zoning permits, and providing support and technical assistance to the Planning Commission and the Development Review Board. The Planning Commission has the duty of nominating a candidate for acceptance by the Town Select Board and for overseeing the activities of the Zoning Administrator.
Pawlet is a predominantly agriculture community with a population of approximately 1,400, located along the designated Stone Valley Scenic Byway and within the Mettowee River and Flower Brook watersheds, with two Designated Village Centers.
The recommended minimum qualifications required are an associate’s or bachelor’s degree with min. 2 years of experience in zoning administration with a working knowledge of town zoning and by-laws interpretation and enforcement, and close collaboration with town planning commissions. The qualifications of the applicant must include the ability to use Word, Excel, GIS mapping software and other necessary computer programs; excellent record keeping, organizational, and people skills. Consideration is made for qualifications in a related field and/or a combination of training, experience, knowledge and ability over a minimum of 3 to 5 years in disciplines such as building construction, zoning, land use planning, development review, etc.
