For immediate release – 2/23/2008 - #215 LC Men Conclude the Season With an 86-52 Defeat to Virginia Wesleyan VIRGINIA, BEACH, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s basketball team concluded their season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Virginia Wesleyan College 86-52 on the road in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. The Marlins (20-5/14-4 ODAC) led by 32 at the half, 48-16. The game would be much more even in the second half, with the score in the second stanza being 38-36 in favor of VWC. TonTon Balenga scored a game-high 26 points while Tyler Fantin pitched in with a double double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Stephen Fields also contributed with 12 points. Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) tallied 13 points and nine rebounds and Jeff Langrock (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) notched eight points and seven rebounds. Virginia Wesleyan outshot the Hornets 51% to 33% overall and 47% to 36% from three range. The Marlins outrebounded Lynchburg 40-36 and forced LC into 17 turnovers to only eight for VWC. LC finishes their season with an overall record of 3-22 and an ODAC record of 1-17. ###
