ACADEMIC COUNCILThe Academic Council (AC) is the body that implements, evaluates and aligns academic frameworks with our whole school mission in collaboration with the strategic role of the Leadership Team (LT).
Curriculum and Assessment•
Developing and refining the articulated curriculum and programs for learning across all sections of the school.•
Regularly review programs on all campuses (Degleroch PYP-DP, BaSICS) as to their alignment with the school’s mission.•
Keep and analyze data on assessment – internal and standardized – suggesting changes according to alignment with the
curriculum and programs – insuring that all assessment tools actively promote student learning and inform the community thereof.
Professional Development•
Instilling a culture of thinking that promotes the use of 21st century skills to gain understanding.•
Suggest and promote professional development opportunities for whole school and for program specific needs.
Policy•
Developing and promoting policies that are aligned with the mission of the school and that support the aims of the
curriculum

ACADEMIC COUNCIL
•
Reviewing our 6-12 academic program to ensure proper transitions between PYP and DP. The review must also include a full report as to the appropriate support necessary for our current program and what is necessary to re-implement MYP appropriately. The report may also consider the implementation of a new program and what this program might entail.
•
Implementation of Curriculum mapping tool to support lesson planning and Program of Study for the beginning of 2011/12.o
Continued review of scope and sequence and linkage to Program of Study in alignment with Mission and Vision objectives.o
Integration and alignment of Language Policy and IT initiatives into curriculum.
•
Prepare a policy of assessment for Leadership Team approval and developing suggestions for implementation.
It is the LT’s responsibility to task and approve any policies developed or suggested by the AC.
As the Curricular Coordinating body of the Whole School (both campuses) Curriculum updating and evolution is a standing agenda for the AC.
The AC should make professional development or programmatic calendar suggestions within specific retreats or in LT meetings
