PROGRAM OBJECTIVESThis seminar will summarize presentations made at the 68th American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) meeting held in Washington D.C. in October 2017. New information regarding the management of hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, liver cancer, and complications of portal hypertension and cirrhosis will be presented. In addition, case-based discussions on the current approach to patients with hepatitis C and patients with advanced liver disease will be provided.At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will be able to:• determine what tests to order to diagnose chronic

hepatitis B and C, when to initiate antiviral therapy,which treatment is appropriate, and how to monitor forresponse.

• understand the clinical course and predictors ofoutcomes of patients with fatty liver disease andalcoholic liver disease and be able to determine whentreatment should be initiated, which treatment is mostappropriate, and how to monitor for response.

• determine the most appropriate approach to themanagement of patients with hepatocellular carcinomaincluding the use of resection and transplantation.

• provide appropraite management for complications ofportal hypertension in patients with cirrhosis includingbleeding, ascites, and hepatic encephalopathy.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis course is directed to family and general practitioners, gastroenterologists, internists, and other primary care providers including nurse practitioners and physician assistants interested in expanding their knowledge of clinical hepatology.

COURSE BACKGROUNDThe Liver Disease Wrap-up CME course has been a well-received educational forum for practicing physicians wanting to keep up with the latest developments in clinical hepatology. Experienced faculty from the University of Michigan, Division of Gastroenterology provide a mix of clinical research findings along with case-based learning in this program.

Applications have been submitted to the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians for credits. Determination of credit is pending. Other credits by specialty may apply.

ABIM MOC CREDITSuccessful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

CANCELLATION POLICYAn administrative fee of $50 will be deducted from your registration payment. Refund requests must be received in writing, no later than Friday, November 24, 2017. No refunds will be made thereafter.
