UCA Membership Dues The year 2020 has been a difficult one for
all.
During these challenging times, we would like to take this
opportunity to remind you of UCA’s
motto, “the seeds of innovation begin underground”. We have
never seen it exemplified more.
In 2020, UCA witnessed our members come together &
demonstrate true greatness, persever-
ance, and creativity to overcome the obstacles in front of them.
UCA has continued to be a
setting where people share their resources to make the industry
better as a whole. We have
made improvements to our technology, provided support through
education and training, and
have worked diligently to ensure networking opportunities remain
available for our under-
ground community. Together we have created better alliances, a
safer work force and a better
environment overall moving forward into 2021. Thank you for your
teamwork.
Per the UCA bylaws, we ask for your membership dues to be paid
no later than 12/31/20.
2021 will be an important year for contract negotiations for
both the Laborers and Operating
Engineers. Members have the option to assign bargaining rights
to UCA and can also partici-
pate on the Craft Committee’s to join in the negotiations.
Now, more than ever, our partnerships with our members are vital
to the success of this associ-
ation. Please know that you are truly appreciated.

President’s Editorial Dear UCA Members, Welcome to 2021, another
year sure to challenge our industry as we creatively invent ways to
support each other, keep our employees safe and evolve our
businesses. I am humbled and excited to serve this year as
president of UCA Illinois as we embark on this transformation
together. Also, I would like to acknowledge and thank our former
President, Cindy Gustafson, along with our UCA committees and
staff. Despite a global pandemic, their strong and dedicated
leadership brought our organization many successes in 2020. As we
move into a new year, UCA will continue its vital role in keeping
on top of issues that impact the construction industry and
businesses. I want to assure you this associa-tion will continue
working hard on our behalf whether it be upcoming trades labor
con-tract negotiations, providing opportunities to speak with
policy makers, fighting for funding and business friendly
legislation or hosting industry networking events. Just as
important, UCA is preparing creative ways for members to network
and connect. Sadly, it will not be on a sunny beach in Aruba. 2020
brought many challenges, including financial hardships, and I want
to thank every member for their continued support. I look forward
to seeing current and new members soon wishing all a healthy and

UCA Scholarship Raffle UCA is looking for donations to conduct a
raffle as our main scholarship fundraiser in 2021.
Donation suggestions include but are not limited to: gift cards
($250 - $500 value), sporting event tickets for the
2021 – 2022 season (assuming this mess is over by then), hotel
stays, a day at the range, gift baskets, memora-
bilia, etc.
The raffle tickets available for purchase will be $50 each and
the participant can pick which donated item(s) they
want to be drawn for. Raffle ticket sales will begin on January
2nd and run through the end of May.
To date the following donations have been received:
• White Sox (four (4) UL Box seats behind home plate (Sec 533),
