International internet bandwidth – aggregate of cross-border router-to-router public internet capacity

• Data gathered by TeleGeography through surveys and supplemental internal estimates of hundreds of public internet backbone providers operating in more than 180 countries.

• Does NOT depict: layer 2 capacity, private IP links (content provider networks, research/education networks, etc)

Average traffic - sum of all traffic across a link divided by the number of seconds in the month

Peak traffic - the 95th percentile. Calculated by dividing one month’s traffic into 5-minute increments, ranking the traffic levels of each increment, and removing the top 5 percent.

Prices – 10GigE IPT, weighted median port prices. Excludes installation and local access

Carlsbad, CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected], CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected]

Largest route group? Intra-Europe by a landslide, followed by intra-Asia.

Largest inter-regional routes? Several U.S-linked routes: Brazil, China, UK, Japan

Carlsbad, CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected], CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected]

Tunneling down to Europe

Fast route growth? FRA-IST at nearly 40% CAGR

Biggest Eastern European route? FRA-MSK

Carlsbad, CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected], CA | Washington, DC | Exeter, UK | Singapore | www.telegeography.com | [email protected]

Tunneling down to Europe Europe has world’s highest share of intra-regional bandwidth-75%
