Be passionate. Shape the future

2020/2021 SCHOOL REPORT

Delphine MANCEAUSchool Dean

We have just come through a very unusual moment and a time we hope will be soon be far behind us.

This year we’ve needed to adapt more than ever, with our sights set on two priorities: increasing our organisation one day at a time and maintaining our strategic course.

In fact, our first desire has been to remain connected with our students. To help them get through this crisis, we’ve expanded the support measures provided to them, particularly those associated with health, employment and financial aid while also ensuring to stay in contact with them and combat any sense of isolation.

We’ve also continued to implement our strategy to be a challenging force with innovation as the underlying theme in the areas of digital technology, architecture, international outreach and social progress.

We have launched new programmes, developed new partnerships, deployed our transformation, continued on the track of excellence and stayed on the course towards our mission: to educate the new generation who will assist in transforming companies and contribute to the economic recovery.

I am very happy to share this 2020/2021 school activity report with you.

2021 is an historic year for NEOMA, which is celebrating its 150-year anniversary with a focus on the theme of the construction of the future, which is in keeping with the tagline “Be Passionate. Shape The Future.” For this occasion, several key moments have been proposed to the school community with the celebration of the new Paris campus standing as the climax at the end of the year.

In collaboration with NEOMA Alumni, several initiatives have been set up to pay tribute to our alumni. “Our alumni embody the school, its history, its success and above all a sense of family that brings us together. It’s also through these passionate, committed and loyal men and women that NEOMA has become such an iconic school,” says Delphine Manceau. “So it was natural to honour them on this occasion.” A web space that retraces the inspiring career paths of 150 graduates has also been put online. The graduates are also invited to share their fondest memories of the school. The creation of a Hall of Fame on each campus, featuring the portraits of many different alumni has also been planned.

Major commitment TO MAINTAIN CONNECTIONS WITH OUR STUDENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC

WELLNESS CENTRE: Expanding wellness and healthcare awareness

With initiatives that were further expanded during the crisis, the team at NEOMA’s Wellness Centre provides students with medical and psychological support in order to look after their health and well being.

Several free services have been introduced: treatment centre, psychological support, support groups, emotional management workshops, a student buddy system to help international students to integrate the school. “We believe that the Wellness service will be one of the school’s key components in the coming years,” says Mathieu Lucas, Student Societies Manager and Head of the Wellness Centre, “because we are fully aware of the importance of student quality of life and psychological well-being.”

EMPLOYABILITY: Promoting professional integration To prevent young people from being victims of the economic crisis, we have become engaged more than ever to promote the professional integration of our students. That is why several unique initiatives have been implemented with invaluable help from alumni:

> 1,200 MiM students participated in thematic conferences, mentoring sessions, remote onboarding workshops and professional reorientation workshops

> 539 alumni volunteered time and effort to provide students with expert advice

SOLIDARITY FUND: Providing financial support From the start of the health crisis, NEOMA Business School, NEOMA Alumni and the NEOMA Foundation created the NEOMA SOLIDARITY FUND. These three organisations called upon our community to provide aid to students who have been affected most by the health crisis.

Through this special fund:

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES: Maintaining academic exchanges wherever possible To maintain the opportunity for students to go abroad on their academic exchange, even during the pandemic, the school relied on its network of more than 360 international partners, whilst giving each student the freedom to participate or not.

Whereas all other schools abandoned their efforts to help their students go on exchange, NEOMA allowed 1,058 students to pursue one of the exchange agreements through our academic network.

“The long-standing relationships that we maintain with our partners around the world allowed us to compensate for the closing of international opportunities in certain universities with spots in other institutions,” says Céline Davesne, Associate Dean for Programmes & International Affairs.

We would also like to thank the graduates who supported and assisted students who were unable to return home when the borders closed. Their support during this difficult time cannot be overstated.

NEOMA remains focused AND CHALLENGES ESTABLISHED PEDAGOGIC MODELS

“NEOMA continues to progress in its innovation efforts”

A school that evolves through innovation…

DIGITAL INNOVATION

Introduced in September 2020, NEOMA was the first school in Europe to employ such an innovation through a partnership with Laval Virtual. This new virtual environment includes the spaces and traditional uses of a physical campus. Through an avatar, students can move through the school and school day just as they would on a real campus. Once they are connected, they can access the virtual building to take a course, meet with a work group or attend a conference. For professors, they can use their avatars for easy access to presentation tools for displaying their courses and interacting with all or part of the class. “This new digital campus helps build relationships and a sense of unity, encourages natural reflexes in group situations and recreates spontaneity,” says Chief Digital Officer, Alain Goudey. It’s a wholly unique innovation in terms of its scale in the world of educational technologies.

The opening of a fourth campus: the virtual campus

Poets & Quants, an American digital media specialist in higher education and business schools, ranked NEOMA in its top 5 European business schools to watch in 2021, alongside prestigious schools such as Bocconi University and Imperial College London! The journalists visited the virtual campus and were won over. “It’s not real life, but the resemblance is uncanny,” they say. “The result is an experience that makes you think that you’ve seen the future.”

In june 2021, the NEOMA virtual campus was presented with an award by the REPUBLIK IT’s IT Night jury, made up of IS departments from major French companies. And in July, the virtual campus won a Laval Virtual award, which each year recognises the best immersive projects.

Being able to code and understand the languages of coding has become an essential skill. In view of this fact, NEOMA launched the NEOMA Coding School at the start of February, a digital IT development platform. The digital platform offers more than 25 languages (Python, TML, CSS, PHP, JQuery, Ajax, MySQL, etc.) “With the Coding School, students and graduates can start building a website or an app. They can also learn to develop finance calculation tools,” says Denis Gallot, Head of Rouen Campus and the Startup Lab.

An impact assessment on IVR

As a pioneer in the use of virtual reality in the classroom in 2016, the digital transformation department shared the results of an assessment that measured the real impact of this technology on education. Conducted with a panel of students from the Master in Management programme, this analysis showed the benefits of immersive virtual reality’s use on both learning and student involvement.

Unique class events

Due to the health situation, the usual class events were cancelled. NEOMA displayed its agility by reinventing its class events: virtual campus tours, TV broadcasting, an orientation week held remotely for secondary school students, a special preparatory week, 100% online open house days, more than 110 webinars and 40 virtual forums, online course immersion etc. Since September 2020, more than 150 events were organised in very innovative formats to inform and attract secondary school students and their families.

ARCHITECTURAL INNOVATION

With their magnetic whiteboard walls and tables and absence of digital or technological equipment, the creativity rooms were designed to encourage imagination, collaboration and creation in a group-work setting.

For the next year, NEOMA also has plans to equip its campuses with 30 hybrid classrooms with the aim of giving courses to people both in person and remotely through the use of cutting-edge equipment (screens, cameras, PA systems, etc.).

The creation of creativity rooms and co-working spaces

A review promoting an enhanced pedagogic experience The 2021 academic year will be held 100% in class for the first semester. “It’s a serious commitment because after the year that we’ve just gone through, more than ever students need to be together, share in learning, talk with their professors and participate in student societies. We are aware of the psychological and pedagogic impact of the health crisis. This 100% in-class school year seeks to counterbalance the experience of remote learning and interactions from the last few months before implementing new hybrid models,” says Delphine Manceau. The school actually considers that the hybridisation is a real topic for review in order to develop the pedagogic model of tomorrow and begin a more comprehensive review to identify the added value of each pedagogic format and the situations where each format is the most useful from the perspective of the student experience.

ARCHITECTURAL INNOVATION

For its international dimension, NEOMA has always championed an immersive outlook that encourages students to leave in small groups to attend a globally recognised partner institution. This year, the school has continued to develop its international network with the addition of several prestigious institutions, including:

+ 32 partners in 1 year / + 102 partners in 3 years

Università Bocconi, based in Milan, this excellent institution specialises in economic sciences, finance, political sciences,

management, public administration and law. With triple accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB & AMBA) it offers a Master in Management that is listed in the top 10 worldwide (2020 Financial Times). “We often speak of Bocconi as the Italian HEC because it educates the national elite and stands as one of the country’s intellectual centres that hosts renowned professors,” says Céline Davesne, Associate Dean for Programmes and International Affairs.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, based in China, is nicknamed the Silicon Valley of Shenzhen. CUHK attracts the best students and academics from around the world. Listed in 8th place for Asia and 56th for the world in the prestigious 2021 Finance Times Higher

Education ranking, CUHK is also AACSB and AMBA accredited.

IIM Udaipur, based in India and created in 2011, IIM Udaipur is recognised for having experienced rapid growth through the creation of new pedagogic models. Aspiring to become a genuine

standard in the world of higher education, IIM also stands out through its AACSB accreditation and its place in the Financial Times ranking (5th in India, 72nd in the world).

NEOMA received the third and highest level label “Welcome to France”It attests to the quality of the hosting and support given to international students on our campuses. Attributed by Campus France, this acknowledgement strengthens the attractiveness of the school on the international stage.

SPOTLIGHT: NEOMA starts the school year in China The school year started for the joint e-commerce and international business programme of NEOMA and Nankai University at the Nankai campus last September. 40 Chinese students recruited through a very selective placement system at the university after taking their A levels (GAOKAO) began this dual-degree bachelor. This degree is recognised by the Chinese minister of education and relies on the expertise of the two partner institutions and on numerous Chinese and French e-business groups. The start of this academic year is now part of the long-standing history of relations that NEOMA has maintained with China and more specifically with Nankai University.

University of St. Gallen, in Switzerland, is a top-tier university in the business sector. For its research and

teaching, it encourages integrative thinking, responsible actions and an entrepreneurial outlook for innovation in companies and society. With triple accreditation, St. Gallen is ranked in the top 10 of the 2020 Financial Times rankings for European business schools.

Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), is located in Brazil. Founded in 1944 to educate people qualified for the private and public

sector, FGV contributed to the country’s rise by becoming a major player in the social and economic sciences. Since then, it has invested in research and information, fields in which it is currently a benchmark for quality and excellence. FGV is the most prominent business school in Latin America and the first school in Brazil to receive triple accreditation.

Copenhagen Business Academy is the most important school in Denmark. Its courses combine theory and

practice and for the past 100 years it has committed to providing its students with the skills needed to work in business. It is also defined by its diversity and flexibility, which offer students the option of participating in student societies. Intercultural skills are also emphasised through its diverse, international environment.

Among our prestigious partners:

EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION Paying close attention to the needs of businesses, we continuously develop our programmes to enhance the employability of our graduates.

CESEM: with an original dual-curricula format with 2 two years spent at NEOMA and 2 years at an academic partner institution outside of France, and awarding two degrees as well, the CESEM builds upon the mainstays that form its reputation: the development of a network of exceptional partners (University of Taiwan for the Asia track and University of San Diego for the Americas track) and courses connected to geopolitics (6 new courses). A new pedagogic format focused on student-to-student education (peer-learning) is also employed to stimulate the educational continuum between secondary school and higher education.

TEMA: with its pioneering positioning around the triple management, digital technology and creativity skillset, this 5-year bachelor’s programme welcomes 8 new partners as part of its immersive semester in design or digital tech: ESAD in Reims, ESAD in Orléans, e-artsup, ISCOM, École Intuit Lab, École Emile Cohl, Rubika and EFREI.

REMEMBER! The GBBA, CESEM (Asia track) and TEMA programmes will be at the new Paris campus for the 2021 academic year.

Bachelor in Services Management: NEOMA teams up with Fauchon and L’Oréal to launch a Bachelor in Services Management, which aims to train managers in the professional sectors of French excellence and expertise. This new 3-year programme is offered for the 2021 academic year on the Rouen campus in partnership with these iconic brands that are world leaders in their sectors. It is divided into four specific tracks: the Distribution track that will involve the long-running NEOMA EC@L curriculum, the Gastronomy track in partnership with ECOLE FAUCHON, the Hair and Beauty track in partnership with L’Oréal, and the Hospitality track, which will be available in the 2022 academic year.

Launch of new Masters of Science programmes> MSc in Business Analytics, taught in English on the Rouen campus, trains analytics professionals who will be able to assist businesses in understanding their market and making strategic decisions on the basis of interpreting data and tangible factors. The students can work towards earning IIBA® certification.

> MSc in International Sales & Management is offered on the Rouen campus and taught in English. It trains advanced international business developers who will be able to develop innovative commercial strategies and meet the demands of today and tomorrow’s markets.

> MSc in Project Management is taught in French on the Paris campus and in work-release format. It trains future versatile project leaders who will be able to manage in a complex and rapidly changing environment. The programme integrates the PMI/PRINCE2 and Scrum certifications.

SPOTLIGHT: Placing student aspirations at the heart of the Master in Management programme

“Our promise? The alignment between what students want to do and what the school offers them, and what tomorrow’s professions will be,” says Delphine Manceau.

Finance, marketing, auditing and consulting, entrepreneurship, supply chain, human resources and more, the MiM makes use of the expertise upon which it has built its reputation for the past 150 years, now offering a diverse programme with the students’ aspirations as the different common themes:

• “I will be a global citizen” by meeting the challenges of the environment, diversity and corporate social responsibility (CSR) and by being an actor in a global environment undergoing profound geopolitical change ;

• “I will be creative and innovative” by applying the entrepreneurial spirit and agility to assist organisations ;

• “I will be an actor in digitalisation” by assisting business and individual practices with the digital transformation ;

• “I will be able to transform difficulty into opportunity” to respond to changing challenges (logistics, finance, big data, etc.)

The NEOSMART programme: this student-to-student learning programme (second-year students share their knowledge with first-year students) was successfully launched last year for economics, statistics and accounting. The tutoring programme has been expanded to include languages and entrepreneurship.

Coding School: for acquiring or expanding web development skills. With this new platform, students can begin building a website or an app or learn to develop calculation tools in finance for example.

Enhancement of the programme’s international dimension: with several new tracks and specialisations in prestigious universities around the world.

I 11 I

Innovative programmes and services offered exclusively at NEOMA will be launched for the 2021 academic year to augment this new structuring. Students will be able to access:

Four geopolitics & management tracks in partnership with the Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS).

From the transformation of the balance of power between countries to challenges in maritime zones and trade wars, geopolitics is now an essential skill for managers so they can understand and master international economic and political relations.

In this context, IRIS Sup’, the school of the Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS) and NEOMA have signed a comprehensive partnership, at the intersection of geopolitics and management, with four specific tracks offered to MiM students, shared events and the development of new joint programmes.

Ranked as one of the best think tanks in the world on the issues of foreign policy and international affairs, the IRIS is the only think tank in France that is directly connected to a research centre and a school. With this partnership, IRIS Sup’ will offer NEOMA students the opportunity to take a specialised geopolitics curriculum recognised and lauded by the professional world. Pascal Boniface, the director of IRIS, celebrates this promising partnership. “The Covid-19 crisis, the American presidential elections, the rising power of China and the eventual European reawakening are factors that

prove how exterior events have immediate repercussions within our borders. Having a geopolitics programme is no longer a choice, but a necessity. We are delighted to welcome students from NEOMA Business School in the upcoming academic year so we can teach them about these issues.”

Thierry GUIBERT, Sponsor of the MiM class of 2020

A MiM Class of ’96 graduate and former president of NEOMA Alumni, Thierry Guibert is currently

Managing Director of Maus Frères (Lacoste, Aigle, The Kooples, etc.). Very attached to the school, at each meeting he shares his energy and experience with NEOMA students. Asked by students about his values, he replied, “Humility is a key to success in your professional life. It’s not incompatible with success. Arrogance never pays.” And his ambitions, “The line I don’t cross, it’s financial profitability at any price to the detriment of humanity.”

I 12 I

I 13 I

RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL INNOVATION

A new financial aid policy For several years, social openness and inclusion has been one of the school’s top priorities. To ensure that all talented students can enrol in NEOMA, an ambitious financial aid programme supports students coming from the most modest backgrounds. “The programme that we’ve chosen to set up is based on the financial aid attributed through the CROUS social criteria. It guarantees school tuition and fees exemptions up to €10,000 for a student in the Master in Management programme,” says Bénedicte Dulaquais, Accreditations/CSR Project Manager. The annual dedicated budget has therefore been tripled over the past two years, and €2.2 million in aid was distributed in 2020/2021.

The school’s major commitment to gender equality

This commitment is put into practice in the form of “young profes-sional” workshops focused on first-time salary negotiations, thematic conferences and the signing of a new regional convention for gender equality in Normandy’s educational system.

Application of “Disabilities” policy NEOMA continues to reinforce the support it provides to students with disabilities. The “Quality of life, Accessibility and Diversity on campus” award at the Responsible Campus Awards, was given to the school for the support services offered to students with dys-type disorders.

NEOMA and Veuve Clicquot launch a student financial aid programme. With their widespread support of the shared values relating to diversity and equal opportunities, Veuve Clicquot and NEOMA Business School have teamed up for a three-year agreement offering ten scholarships that will finance the tuition and fees for ten MiM students each year. “Veuve Clicquot is a brand whose name evokes a pioneer among female company leaders. Remaining faithful to this heritage, our house has strived for many years to provide better visibility to women in the professional world and highlight those whose ambition has made them inspirational figures,” says Jean-Marc Gallot, CEO of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, NEOMA graduate, School Administrator and President of the International Advisory Board. “This scholarship programme sits at the core of our ambition and aims to support the careers of brilliant students who have trouble financing their studies.”

NEOMA RECEIVES AACSB ACCREDITATION FOR 5 ADDITIONAL YEARS

“With this re-accreditation, NEOMA holds its place on the international academic stage,” says Delphine Manceau. “We are very proud that the key strengths emphasised in the audit correspond to the principal areas of focus on our current strategic plan and illustrate the spirit of innovation that drives us.”

Structured around the 3 key mainstays of commitment, innovation and impact, the audit highlighted NEOMA’s many different assets, including:

· The pedagogic innovation and entrepreneurial culture at the school that, supported by a solid Digital Transformation policy (particularly through the opening of a virtual campus), encourages students to apply themselves even more to their studies ;

· The quality of its international academic network that helps to offer an immersive student experience through innovative formats such as the Entrepreneurs Across Borders programme, which offers students the chance to enter the incubator of a partner university ;

· The school’s substantial recognition on the global academic stage ;

· The developments to its Master in Management programme that parallel the transformations on the job market as well as student expectations.

NEOMA and Arts et Métiers co-publish a white paper: “Training for the professions of tomorrow” From digitalisation and hybridisation to social and environmental challenges and life-long learning, organisations are experiencing intense disruptions, amplified by the current health crisis. In this context, the two schools analyse the challenges that higher education must face as professions change. The book presents the view points of engineering and business schools and invites recognised experts from the professional academic world, such as François Taddei, director of the Centre of Interdisciplinary Research (CRI), and Eric Hazan, associated director of the Paris office of the McKinsey consulting group, to give their views on the challenges of the “learning society.”

NEOMA research breaks down the barriers between disciplines and is organised in Areas of Excellence.

“NEOMA has always been committed to producing research that combines excellence and impact for students and professionals. Today, we are progressing even further with the launch of areas of excellence that perfectly match the aspirations found in the curriculum and the issues that businesses face in an environment undergoing tremendous change,” says Fabio Fonti, Associate Dean for Faculty and Research.

4 Areas of Excellence to develop decisive expertise:

• The Future of Work: What are the new work methods and key skills in the world of tomorrow?

• The World We Want: What world do we want for tomorrow and how can companies contribute to building it?

• The Complexity Advantage: How do we facilitate the decision making for organisations and individuals in an increasingly complex world?

• AI, Data Science and Business: How do we guide digital transformation and its impacts on organisations and society?

The economics and management of the ecological transition, mainstays of sustainable change

The Chair in Industrial Bioeconomy becomes the Chair in Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development.Since 2012, the Chair has studied the contributions of the bioeconomy to the ecological transition. As a first in the world, NEOMA is the only business school to create an economics-management team devoted to this issue. The researchers at the NEOMA BS Chair in Bioeconomy study the way in which firms develop new low-carbon products, how the innovations of the bioeconomy could change the paradigm of the current economy and how this transition could benefit different regions.

I 17 I

Close, substantive relationships WITH COMPANIES

Global Executive MBA: even greater flexibility and openness

To respond to the constant changes in the professional world, NEOMA has developed its Global Executive MBA. The new programme has greater flexibility with 3 different start dates offered over the year. It also provides even more expansive openness to the global stage by combining high-potential areas and promising subjects (seminars on Fintech in New York and on entrepreneurship in Accra, Ghana) while developing a solid regional dimension that capitalises on the synergies between the school and its long-standing presence and connections.

Greater digitalisation in the Executive Education offer: the example of Provale

NEOMA joins forces with Provale Formation to offer a 100% digital version of its customised Real Estate Manager degree programme intended to support professional rugby players in their professional reorientation. The school has provided Provale with an innovative digital platform designed specifically for them, combining a flexible schedule based on the constraints of a high-level athletic life, with customisable online training content, video presentations from our professors on management basics and a dedicated team of experts to guide and advise the players in their professional project.

I 18 I

Consulting for start-ups For two years, the students in the Advanced Master in Marketing and Data Analytics turned into a consulting agency for the young companies Poétique Paris, Mama Matcha, Nénés Paris and Happy Larry, all of which were incubated in the NEOMA Startup Lab. Their mission: develop the traffic on their websites.

Champagne Krug and the generation Z French and international students in the International Master in Luxury Management programme were asked to examine the perception of luxury, champagne and the sustainable development expectations of their generation.

Next Leaders with Ferrero is a teaching chair that develops an original co-creation format between academia and the professional environment. It serves as a platform for the recruitment of new talents and as an excellent testing ground for pedagogic activities. Among its different components, there is “Deep Dive Into Leadership” where students can have an immersive experience with members of the Ferrero executive committee.

Case Studies Using the problems brought up by our partners, NEOMA students work on real cases and add further insight to the reviews and assessments of companies. Here are some examples:

NEOMA Executive Education establishes a new partnership: The example of VATEL The hospitality and tourism sectors are facing numerous financial issues, which have taken on an added importance during the health crisis. It is in this context that VATEL, a leading global hospitality and tourism management training institution, has joined forces with NEOMA to create a joint Executive Education Finance programme.

NEOMA works with new business partners: the example of Sopra Steria Next

As a major player in digital transformation consulting for companies and organisations, Sopra Steria Next will support the school in its innovative pedagogy and research development strategy.

A new Paris campus FOR THE 2021 ACADEMIC YEAR After several months of building and renovation work, our new Paris campus, located in the heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, will welcome students at the start of the 2021 academic year in September. With a surface area of 6,500 m2, this new city-centre campus can accommodate 1,400 students. It offers a wide range of programmes, from Bachelor to Executive Education curricula, and fully embodies the digital and pedagogic transformation that the school has committed to.

Completely adapted to a form of post-pandemic pedagogy combining in-class and remote learning, this new campus is outfitted with cutting-edge educational facilities and equipment that are 100% modular: whiteboard walls, creativity rooms, exhibition spaces, co-working spaces, interactive terminals and videoconferencing tools that encourage interactions with the Reims and Rouen campuses and with our international partners.

Additionally, in accordance with our solid CSR commitment, NEOMA chose construction practices and materials that respect environmental concerns and are looking to obtain the HEQ (High Environmental Quality) label. The materials offering high thermal and acoustic quality were selected to make this new campus a place that combines technical sophistication and energy efficiency.

A festive event will be organised at the end of the year to celebrate the campus’ opening, marked by the school’s 150-year anniversary. “You couldn’t dream up a better occasion than our 150-year anniversary to present our new campus!” says Delphine Manceau. “It’s the perfect symbol of pedagogic, architectural, environmental and societal innovation, one that matches the openness to the future, which has always been the story of NEOMA Business School.”
