SPECIAL PROMOTION
FEATURE MEALS598 Main Street, Bu alo 436-5055; squareup.com/store/featuremeals
Feature Meals caters to specialized diets, including vegan, paleo, and gluten free. The vegan fi ve-meal option usually features a chili, a couple fritter/green vegetable/grain combos, and a chickpea and/or lentil option. Meals are well seasoned, with good texture (unlike the mush of so many frozen vegetarian meals). Feature Meals also o ers gluten-free, paleo, and keto plans. The downtown location makes this is a great choice for o ce workers . Meals average about $6 each.
EAT RITE1 Delaware Road, Kenmore; 1785 Military Road, Niagara Falls 445-1067; eatritefoods716.comEat Rite o ers balanced meals at a low cost, mainly for those with few dietary restrictions. A meat, a grain, and a vegetable run about $6/meal. Orders can be placed in advance
or customers can stop in and see what’s in the coolers. My friends and I were happy with the overall quality, seasoning and texture of the meals we sampled. In addition to the dinners, there are a few breakfast options every week, often an egg scramble and a breakfast burrito. Meals run about 400 calories, perfect to have on hand if you want to keep it light.

With a focus on organic and local ingredients, 716 Fresh sells kombucha and cold-pressed juices in addition to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, all packed with fruits and vegetables. Vegan, vegetarian, keto, and gluten-free menu options are marked accordingly.
95 NUTRITION465-1920, 95nutrition.com

carte options, and gluten-free choices. Meals cost about $7-$8 each.
BALANCED BODY FOODS508-7526, balancedbodyfoods.com

BUFFA
LOSPREE
.COM
IF YOUR BROWSER HISTORY IS ANYTHING LIKE MINE, every time you log into a social media site you’re bombarded with ads for one of the latest health and wellness trends: healthy meals delivered right to your door or picked up ready to go. Bu alo-area entrepreneurs have not let this trend pass them by, and there are no shortage of local services to choose from, including these:
I T R I E D I N S T A C A R T
HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD, TOO
I read the reviews on the grocery delivery service, the pros and the cons. The thought that followed was: “But I actually love grocery shopping.” And yet, there was the new baby, who made leaving the house feel like a herculean e ort.
The fi rst time groceries appeared at my doorstep—a mere two hours after ordering them on my phone—felt like that fi rst time seeing an Amazon package: an assortment of bags arriving like magic.
The Instacart platform currently supports Wegmans, ALDI (its most recent addition), PriceRite, CVS Pharmacy, Petco, BJs, Restaurant Depot, Sam’s Club, and TOPS. Additionally, Bu alo-area Amazon Prime members will get free two-hour deliveries on orders over $35 from Whole Foods.
Instacart is for the person look-ing to put a few hours back into their schedule every week. It’s for the new mom or the working person who, on the weekend, doesn’t want to spend a chunk of time grocery shopping.
A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences indicates that when people spend money on time-saving services, such as a house cleaner or grocery delivery, it can make them happier. By comparison, money spent on “things” (e.g., clothing, shoes, cars) does not improve happiness.
Spending money on tasks like grocery delivery puts the most precious commodity of all—time—back into our lives.
