FLORIDA NURSES ASSOCIATION AWARDS PROGRAM

Types of Awards The Florida Nurses Association recognizes and rewards professional nurses in the State of Florida by making an awards program available at the regional and statewide levels. Among awards given are administrative awards, education awards and the annual peer recognition awards given during the Membership Assembly. Additionally, outstanding members may nominated for induction into the FNA Hall of Fame.

Purpose/ Goals of Awards Program The FNA honors excellence in professional nursing by recognizing individuals and groups who are recommended and selected by their peers for formal recognition. The awards program enhances the mission of the Association. Receiving a peer award is one of the highest honors accorded a professional nurse. For that reason, the awards program of the FNA shall be conducted fairly, impartially, and shall endeavor always to honor representative candidates worthy of the awards.

Deadlines The deadline for submitting nominations for the annual awards is July 3, 2020. It is important that the nomination awards packet includes all information as specified in the General Procedures section of this manual.

Judging For those awards given annually at the FNA Membership Assembly, the Board of Directors will appoint a committee consisting of a minimum of three FNA members as the Awards Selection Committee. Members of the Awards Selection Committee shall not be nominees or nominators of any award for the year of selection. Only information submitted for validation of the nominee’s achievements or contributions will be considered in judging the awards. After judging, the list of award winners will be presented to the Board. If, in the opinion of the judges, there is not an acceptable candidate for an award as submitted, the award may be withheld for the current year.
