COSTA RICA- A WORLD OF NATURE & SPA STAY

January 14-25, 2020- COLLETTE VACATIONS

Day 1: San Jose, Costa Rica - Tour Begins Pura Vida. In English, it translates to “the simple life.” But pura vida is so much more: it’s an attitude; a celebration of life in the moment. It’s time to experience what pura vida means to you. You’re on your way to explore a place that’s unlike anywhere else in the world, where pura vida is an unofficial motto and a way of life. Welcome to the emerald of Central America: Costa Rica. Day 2: San Jose - Tortuguero National Park Seemingly endless mountain horizons. Complex evergreen forests. These are the wonders of Tortuguero National Park. Head down the rivers and canals to the world’s first sea turtle research station and go behind the curtain of this jungle paradise. Later, get away from it all and relax at your incredible lodge, an oasis in the middle of the jungle. Let the monkeys lull you to sleep as lush rainforest and wildlife surrounds you. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park Begin the day on an excursion to spot the elusive green macaw and other unique winged creatures that flock to

Tortuguero. If you’ve ever wondered what life was like on the other side of a rainforest’s lush green walls, a nature cruise through the park is your special

glimpse. To float on these waters is to live a day in the life of the jaguars, manatees, ocelots, and more. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be

included.

Day 4: Tortuguero National Park - San Carlos Cut through the mists of the rainforest on a languid boat ride towards Sarapiquí and Tirimbina

Rainforest Center. On land, an experience for the senses awaits at a cacao plantation. Observe the process of converting this magical seed from bean

to bar, and taste for yourself why cacao is called “food of the gods.” Later, arrive at your secluded nature resort, nestled on the edge of the San Carlos

River. Stroll the butterfly and botanical gardens lined with fruit trees, including lemon, soursop, guava, mango and tangerine. Today breakfast, lunch and

dinner will be included.

Day 5: San Carlos Explore the beauty of your surroundings on a Peñas Blancas River Safari. Paddle and float down the river on a peaceful adventure,

taking in the sights and sounds of the rainforest as your naturalist guide explains the rich wildlife. Visit the farm of a local family and try specialty snacks

such as banana bread, Costa Rican gourmet coffee and more. Then, it’s your choice! Continue to explore the rich landscape on horseback -OR-

participate on a guided walk through a private, primary forest reserve. Either way, learn about the various flora and fauna that populate the trails and

hear how the native species interact in this rich ecosystem. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 6: San Carlos - Finca Don Juan - Hanging Bridges - Arenal Envelop yourself in Costa Rican culture at Finca Don Juan. Explore the family-

owned farm during an educational tour of its vegetable and fruit gardens, organically grown through the concept of sustainability. Taste some of their

exotic fruit harvest and experience the traditional way to process sugar cane. Enjoy a sip of cane liquor and conclude your visit with a cooking

demonstration followed by a farm-to-table lunch. Later, suspended over the rainforest floor, relish in a birds-eye view of the jungle on a guided tour of

Arenal’s famous hanging bridges. High above the jungle canopies, marvel at a cloud forest taking shape around you. Settle into your resort where you’ll

be surrounded by striking views of Arenal’s famous volcano for the next three nights. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 7: Arenal Today, it’s your choice! Since Costa Rica is the birthplace of zip lining, glide over the canopies on a mind-blowing rip through the jungle

-OR- make your way across lava fields for an up-close-and-personal look at the volcano on a moderate hike along the trails formed by lava during the

1968 eruption. The afternoon is at leisure to discover the town of La Fortuna or the naturally heated pools of the hotel. Today breakfast and dinner will

be included.

Day 8: Arenal The Arenal Volcano goes by many names: Pan de Azúcar, Canaste, Volcán Costa Rica. Ultimately, it can be translated to a single

declaration: extraordinary. In the shadow of this famous monolith, the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. If you’re feeling adventurous, opt for the Cano

Negro Wildlife Refuge cruise or an exhilarating white water rafting experience.* Or, simply hang back at the resort, opt for a spa service, explore the

grounds, and soak in one of Arenal’s famous hot springs. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 9: Arenal Volcano - Tarcoles - Manuel Antonio National Park Rendezvous with wild crocodiles among the remarkable mangroves of Tarcoles’

Rio Grande. On this exhilarating jungle crocodile safari, you’ll float along beneath the towering jungle, looking just below the water’s surface for a

glimpse of these incredible creatures. This afternoon, check in to your resort, located just outside Manuel Antonio National Park. Before dinner, watch

the sun set over the Pacific alongside birds in every color of the rainbow. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 10: Manuel Antonio National Park Welcome to the jungle, a truly remote experience with nothing around you except the wonders of Manuel

Antonio National Park.** The rich idyll of rugged rainforests and white sand beaches is the definition of untouched beauty. In this natural wonderland,

traverse the trails where the wild things are, or go for a swim in the turquoise waters of a beach as wildlife rummages in the canopies. Today breakfast

will be included.

Day 11: Manuel Antonio National Park - Coffee Plantation - San Jose This morning, wake up and smell the coffee at a local coffee farm that

produces some of Costa Rica’s well-known beans. Then say goodbye to the coast and hello to San Jose. Toast to the pura vida of Costa Rica tonight

over a farewell dinner. Today breakfast and dinner will be included. Day 12: San Jose - Tour Ends Your tour comes to an end today. Today breakfast

will be included

PRE-MARI GRAS -NEW ORLEANS

February 7-12, 2020 MAYFLOWER CRUISES AND TOURS

Day 1 Arrive in New Orleans

Welcome to New Orleans, Louisiana, America’s jazz capital. Meet your Tour Manager in the hotel Lobby at 6:00 p.m. for a trans fer to our welcome dinner and cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Located in a renovated molasses warehouse in the heart of the French Quarter, you will learn the basics of Louisiana cooking from well-known local chefs. Creole/Cajun experts teach New Orleans specialties such as Gumbo, Jambalaya and Pralines, and season them with history, trivia and tall tales. You’ll be treated to a wide range of local classics and get to enjoy them in sumptuous feast. It's a "ga-ron-teed" good time for all. After dinner, feel free to enjoy the French Quarter on your own. Meal: D Day 2 New Orleans City Tour and National WWII Museum

We begin with a narrated tour of New Orleans. See the sights you’ve heard about for years such as the historic French Quarter , the beautiful Garden District, the colorful River Walk along the Mississippi and famous Bourbon Street. See New Orleans as the city prepares for the biggest celebration of the year, Mardi Gras, with its colorful costumes, parades and parties. In the afternoon we pay a visit to the National WWII Museum. Designated by Congress as the country's official World War II Museum, this remarkable attraction illuminates the American experience during the WWII era. Celebrate the American Spirit as you experience moving personal stories, historic artifacts and powerful interactive displays. From the Normandy invasion to the sands of Pacific Islands, the Museum salutes the optimism, courage and sacrifice of those who won the war and changed the world. Meal: B Day 3 Mardi Gras World and Pre-Mardi Gras Parades

This morning, learn what goes into the making of the Mardi Gras parade floats. Since 1947, the artists of Blaine Kern Studios have been bringing Mardi Gras to life, creating many of the parade floats, from concept through completion. The colors, the lights, the music, the “joie de vivre” is all in one magical place, Mardi Gras World. You’ll get a behind the scenes look at the world’s largest fleet of carnival floats and see everything that goes into making Mardi Gras such an international phenomenon. Later, experience the fun and festivities of a Mardi Gras parade and cheer on the “Krewes” who sponsor the floats. Delight in their ornate costumes and royal courts and try to catch some of the gold, purple and green beads thrown at you from the floats. Be sure to sample Kings Cakes, a traditional Mardi Gras treat! Meal: D Day 4 Beauvoir Mansion and The Beau Rivage Resort and Casino

Resting proudly along the gulf coast sits Beauvoir Mansion, the last home of President Jefferson Davis. Built by a wealthy plantation owner the mansion was completed in 1852 and Davis purchased it a number of years later to pen his Civil War memoirs. Today, the home houses Davis’ Presidential Library as well as the Beauvoir Confederate Cemetery which contains 771 graves of Confederate veterans and their wives. Next, we arrive at the fabulous Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, a waterfront resort which means "beautiful shore" in French. Enjoy two glorious nights at this luxurious retreat where you can shop in the Promenade, dine in the many restaurants providing a variety of local and international cuisine, enjoy entertainment or intimate nightclub gigs. You can also put Lady Luck on your side in the casino with table games, video poker and 2,100 slot machines. Meal: B Day 5 The Beautiful Bellingrath Gardens

Today we visit Bellingrath Gardens, one of the South’s most beautiful gardens. See why this delightful garden was named the 2004 Top Public Rose Garden by the All-America Rose Selections. Experience the Bayou Boardwalk, marvel at Mirror Lake and the Asian-American Gardens. Tour the Bellingrath Home, with its original furnishings and decorative arts. Built in 1935, the 10,500 square foot home was designed by prominent architect, George B. Rogers in a style he called “English Renaissance.” Later, we return to The Beau Rivage for a sumptuous farewell dinner. Meals: B, D Day 6 Travel Home

After breakfast, we travel to New Orleans on a group transfer at 8:00 a.m. for flights out after 12:00 p.m. Meal: B

CRUISING ECUADOR’S GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

APRIL 28-MAY 5, 2020 MAYFLOWER CRUISES AND TOURS

DAY 1 – Depart the USA Depart the USA on a flight to Quito, Ecuador. Enjoy a free evening to experience this amazing city on your own.

DAY 2 – Quito, Capital City of Ecuador After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Quito. The first city to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, Quito boasts a historic

center and centuries-old landmarks, dating back 500 years. Visit ‘Mitad del Mundo’ and the Equator Monument, which stands at 0 degrees,

and feel what it’s like to be standing in the middle of the world. During the included city tour, see a bull fighting ring and the gilded Spanish

colonial church. This evening, enjoy the city on your own. Meals: B, L

DAY 3 – MV Galápagos Legend

After breakfast, board your flight to Baltra. Upon arrival, embark the MV Galápagos Legend for a four night cruise. Set sail for Mosquera

Islet, a tiny, low lying islet covered in coral sand. Experience your first wet landing and see lazy sea lions sunning themselves on the sand as

you reach the shore. Shorebirds as well as herons, lava gulls and boobies are also found here. While snorkeling, one can often see sharks, rays

and barracuda. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 4 – Egas Port (Santiago Island) /Rabida Island This morning, visit the fourth largest island in the Galápagos, Santiago Island. It provides spectacular views of powerful volcanic activity. A

wet landing brings you to Egas Port, a black volcanic sand beach, visited by Darwin in 1835. The unique, truly striking layered terrain of the

Santiago shore is home to a variety of animals including the bizarre yellowcrowned night heron and marine wildlife including lobster, starfish

and marine iguanas grazing on algae beds alongside Sally light-foot crabs. You may also see colonies of endemic fur seals swimming in cool-

water volcanic rock pools The afternoon’s adventure is on Rabida Island. Lying at the heart of the archipelago, this dramatic island, with its

distinctive redsand beach, is home to sea lions, mockingbirds, finches, endemic Galápagos doves and vermillion flycatchers. A walk takes us

through a forest of palo santo and cacti to a beautiful overview of the bay. Snorkeling here can be excellent, often with large schools of black-

striped salemas, sea lions and the ubiquitous turtles. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 5 – Urbina Bay and Tagus Cove (Isabela Island) Start your day with a wet landing on thebeach at Urbina Bay. In 1954, a volcano uplifted the coral reef, leaving marine skeletons that tell of

its ancient past. Look for Darwin’s finches, land iguanas and the Galápagos cotton flower in bloom. Outstanding snorkeling awaits in the

crystal clear waters, showcasing fascinating marine life. Amazing views of the Alcedo Volcano, which spewed an unusual combination of

rhyolite and basalt lava, stands as a powerful backdrop and reminder of nature’s power. This afternoon, visit Tagus Cove – a wellknown

hideout and deep-water anchorage in the days of pirates. It was also one of the few sites visited by Charles Darwin and the HMS Beagle in

1835. Admire the red and white mangroves and Galápagos penguins Great blue herons, pelicans and brown noddy-terns come to roost,

looking for food. Snorkel along the submerged wall with turtles, native fish and penguins. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 6 – Punta Espinosa (Fernandina Island) / Punta Vicente Roca (Isabela Island) Visit Espinosa Point on Fernandina Island, one of the most well-preserved of the Galápagos Islands. Discover one of the world’s most

pristine island ecosystems as you hike through a thick canopy of mangroves. Observe hundreds of prehistoric marine iguanas sunbathing on

black lava rocks. All around are Galápagos penguins, pelicans, sea lions and fur seals, ready to pose for pictures. Quiet now as you encounter

flightless cormorants on their nesting site, the only place in the world to find this species. These birds once flew, but over time, adapted to

their environment and lost their ability to fly. Be on the lookout for the major predator on the island, the Galápagos hawk. This afternoon,

visit Vicente Roca Point. This is a marine-only visitor site with great opportunities for deep-water snorkeling. See plenty of red-lipped

batfish, sea horses, frogfish, marine turtles, sunfish, nudibranchs and octopi in these waters. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 7 – Santa Cruz Island / Guayaquil As your cruise comes to an end, you’ll be filled with wonder at the sights and sounds of the Galápagos Islands. Disembark the vessel after a

dry landing and journey by coach from the coast to the dense humid forest of the mountains and the Highlands Tortoise Reserve. A variety of

birds - tree and ground finches, vermillion flycatchers, paintbilled crakes, yellow warblers and cattle egrets (usually standing on the tortoises’

shell!) make this their home, while the Galápagos giant tortoises are also seen meandering through pastures in their natural habitat. Continue

to the Baltra airport for your flight to Guayaquil. Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour with a local guide. The evening is free for independent

exploration. Meal: B

DAY 8 – Guayaquil / USA Bid a fond farewell to Ecuador and its Galápagos Islands and return home filled with so many

fond memories of the life enriching experiences of your small ship adventure. Meal: B

COASTAL COOKING IN POMERANIA & GDANSK POLAND

JUNE 14-20, 2020 POLAND CULINARY VACATIONS

Day 1 – Sunday (please note we may add one additional pre-night hotel***)

We meet in the lobby of Villa Baltica at 10:00am for a group transfer by motor coach to Manor House Lisewski Dwor in the beautiful

Kashubian countryside, our home for the next three nights. The Manor House Lisewski Dwor offers elegant rooms and world class cuisine.

While staying at the manor, guests are only a short drive to major area attractions among them the Baltic Sea coastline and Lake Zarnowiec.

Enroute to the manor, we make a stop in Gdansk Oliwa, a quiet and charming small city just outside Gdansk. In Oliwa, we’ll visit the 13th

century Oliwa Cathedral built by Cistercian monks, Abbots’ Palace which houses the Contemporary Art Branch of the National Museum, a

beautiful park and get a view of Lech Walesa’s residence. During summer months, many culinary and cultural events take place in Gdansk

Oliwa and offer a perfect opportunity to experience local culture and flavors. Later in the evening and after settling into the Manor House we

meet for a festive welcome dinner at the manor’s restaurant to enjoy delicious Polish and Kashubian specialties.

Day 2 – Monday After breakfast at the palace we attend our first cooking class with women from Gniezdzewo village. Get a taste of

Kashubian life and savor homestyle cooking while preparing several Kashubian recipes. In the afternoon, we head out to Jastrzebia Gora, a

seaside resort with beautiful beaches and Puck, a town in Northern Kashubia or Norda located on the Puck Bay. Puck functions as the

Northern regions center and hosts many interesting events like the Sea Pilgrimage of Fishermen – the only pilgrimage by boats in Europe.

While in Puck we visit historic Market Square, Yachting and Fishing Port, Museum of Puck County, Pier of the Puck Bay and Seaside

Promenade. Our dinner is at Nordowi Mol restaurant in Celbowo serving traditional Kashubian cuisine.

surrounded by the sea on three sides in Poland. As we break for lunch, why not sample a meal of fresh local seafood specialties? We’ll do

just that at famous Maszoperia Cafe & Restaurant in Hel. After lunch, we continue to explore this fascinating area with visits to The Fishery

Museum, The Hel Cape – the beginning of Poland, The Lighthouse, The Seal Sanctuary and Fishing Port. We may also take a scenic boat
