Welcome to the VictoryPoint Bible Reading Plan!

Why this reading plan? It helps you grow as a disciple. Studies show the single most effective way to grow your

relationship with God is to read and reflect on scripture. By listening to God through

scripture and then applying it to your life, disciples mature through essential stages of faith.

A balanced diet of scriptures. The VP Bible Reading Plan follows the Revised Common

Lectionary Sunday readings which is a weekly selection of Old Testament, Psalms, New

Testament, and Gospel readings. In addition to reading from across the whole bible, each

week centers around one central theme based on the time of year in the church calendar.

Journey with VPers. When we all read the same scripture passages, we can encourage

and challenge one another. If you get stuck on a confusing scripture, or get excited about a

certain passage, share it with someone else!

Prep for Sunday’s Message. Most of the Sunday morning messages will be based on one

or more of the previous week’s readings. When you’ve engaged with those readings, you’ll

get a lot more from messages.

How to use this guide

Regularly – Every day you are given a passage to read that others at VP will be reading as well. We suggest finding a consistent 15 minutes every day to read and pray the daily passage. On Sunday we’ll gather to hear a message from the same passages.

Lightly – Although we’ve assigned scriptures to certain days, it’s up to you when and how you engage these scriptures. If you miss a day or even many days, don’t sweat it. Just pick up with today’s scripture and ask God if you should just let the rest go.

Prayerfully – Engage the scriptures in a quiet space. Pause to invite God’s presence before reading. We encourage you to read the passage slowly at least twice. Then spend time with God. Three questions to help guide reflection on the passage are: How is God getting my attention? What is God saying to me? What will I do in response?

Dive Deeper Additional Readings – If you find yourself hungry for more scripture, we’ve included

optional additional readings that help unpack some similar themes.
