WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSIONConquering cancer worldwide by funding breakthrough

research and sharing cutting-edge knowledge

OUR VISIONA world free from the fear of cancer

Decades ago, a cancer diagnosis would have left you hopeless, but advances in treatments and cures mean more people are conquering cancer now than ever before.

In 1964, when chemotherapy was just emerging as a treatment, seven oncologists created the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). They believed connecting everyone dedicated to conquering cancer could help bring the breakthroughs patient need.

Today, ASCO is a global network of nearly 45,000 doctors, researchers, and patient advocates. Conquer Cancer raises funds to support scientists who are uncovering new breakthroughs across all cancers, launching clinical trials, and outsmarting the disease for patients in need of lifesaving therapies.

When you donate to Conquer Cancer, you fuel the breakthroughs needed by every patient, everywhere.

ENDOWED YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD IN MEMORY OF EVELYN H. LAUDERMrs. Evelyn H. Lauder (1936-2011)

Evelyn H. Lauder was passionate about funding breast cancer research and focusing global awareness on women’s health. She is best known for her career of more than 50 years with The Estée Lauder Companies, and as Founder of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF).

BCRF was founded by Mrs. Lauder in 1993 with the sole mission of advancing the world’s most promising research to end breast cancer. Mrs. Lauder recognized the power of research

and its potential to change the lives of millions of women and men worldwide, realizing that to tackle this disease a new approach was critical. Her vision guides BCRF’s unique grant-making model to foster innovation and collaboration by providing freedom and flexibility to the world’s brightest minds in research.

Among many honors, Mrs. Lauder received France’s Chevalier of the Legion of Honor (2002), ASCO Partners in Progress Award (2007), and the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy (2011). She loved to cook and was an avid photographer, publishing two books of photography and a cookbook, with all

ASCO’s diverse membership of nearly 45,000 members includes every oncology specialty and professionals from over 150 countries, representing the world’s largest global professional oncology organization. Tapping into this global network of members, ASCO International provides clinicians around the world with knowledge and training that can help them achieve better care for their cancer patients.

Conquer Cancer is proud to support ASCO International by providing training and support for young investigators in low- and middle-income countries through the IDEA and LIFe programs, by having its research grants open to the entire global community, and by supporting ASCO’s International growth with programs like the International Innovation Grant.

For more information about the Virtual Mentoring Program and eligibility, visit ASCO.ORG

BUILDING BRIDGES IN GLOBAL CANCER CARE

The ASCO Virtual Mentoring Program is a yearlong program designed to support oncologists with unmet mentoring needs. It pairs oncologists with a mentor outside of their institution through virtual technology. This program is designed to support the individual learning, growth, and professional development of each mentee. Applications for the 2021 cycle will open in late 2020.
