Owain’s works are published by Novello and have been performed internationally by ensembles including The Tallis Scholars, the Aurora Orchestra and the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir. While at Cambridge University he studied composition and orchestration with John Rutter, before undertaking a Masters degree in composition under Jeremy Thurlow and Richard Causton. Rossini was born in Pesaro in 1792, his father was a trumpeter, his mother a singer. He composed his first opera when he was just 14. At the age of 15, he learnt to sing, play violin, harpsichord and the French horn. He worked in Milan and Venice, but his most successful years were spent working in Naples and Bologna. He composed his first opera buffa in 1810 (The Bill of Marriage). There has always been a mystery around his early retirement that nobody ever solved.
