How to use this Calendar
Garbage Collection occurs Tuesdays A or Wednesdays B
Recycling collection occurs on alternating Thursdays.
Residents with garbage collection on Tuesdays have recycling collection on Thursdays marked with A .
Residents with garbage collection on Wednesdays have recy-cling collection on Thursdays marked with B
Please note that Invermere’s garbage bylaw does not allow garbage to be placed curbside before 8am the day of pickup because of issues with wildlife.

Only food grade glass contain-ers (any colour, rinsed and lids removed). Eg: pickle jars, olive oil bottles, jam jars.

Newspapers Newspapers and all flyers. Pack loosely in blue bag - do NOT bundle.
No aluminum foilNo elastic bands
Mixed Paper Items that are 100% paper, such as magazines, telephone books, junk mail, cards, bags, egg cartons, office paper, etc.
Books are accepted - remove and discard hard covers (consid-er donating to the library).
No metallic or glitter gift wrap/cardsNo photographsNo used tissues or paper tow-els or any other contaminated paperNo milk or juice boxes or cartonsNo paper beverage cups (coffee, pop, etc)
Boxboard Window envelopes are okBoxboard such as cereal boxes, shoe boxes abd paper towel centre cores, etc.Paper egg cartons.
Remove plastic windows from pasta and tissue boxes.Remove inside bags and liners.
Corrugated Cardboard

Paper Recycling
Paint, CO & Smoke Detectors, and Small BatteriesAll paint is accepted including aerosol cans. Containers must be sealed and labelled. Jars/Yogurt containers are not accepted. Empty containers are accepted, but please no brushes or rags. Find more information at Regeneration.caInvermere Fire DepartmentMon-Fri 8am-4pm. 626 4th St., Invermere at the west entrance to the fire hall. There is a drop-off surface for paint cans and a wooden shelf for detectors and batteries.

Household Hazardous Waste:Solvents, pesticides, gasoline and other flammable liquids should be taken to the Cranbrook Bottle Depot. Restric-tions do apply so call ahead if you have questions.

Recycling at the Columbia Valley LandfillA new recycling program has been set up at the Columbia Valley Landfill, which will allow users to recycle more items! Check out the RDEK’s website for more information. www. rdek.bc.ca
Industrial Park Transfer Station The District is operating the Invermere Transfer Station fully supervised and operated.
Site staff will direct users to bins available for use. This site will only be used to drop off household waste. Furni-ture, appliances, contractor waste and yard waste will not be accepted at this site. Only waste in residential bags that will fit through the bear resistant lids will be accepted.
The Transfer Station will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday and all users will be required to take solid waste to the Columbia Valley Landfill located on Windermere Loop Road. The Columbia Valley Landfill is open 7 days a week 9am - 6pm. Household garbage is free.

Yellow Bins
If you miss your recycling collection day, drop off certain items at the RDEK’s yellow bins around town. Accepted items are listed at the end of this booklet. Only certain bins take glass.
