Sapta is a sacred number and has great significance in Hindu lore and philosophy.

It is believed that if one makes a pilgrimage to all the seven centres, one will attain Moksha or salvation. �e word Teertha is derived from the Sanskrit word Tri which means to be rid of all sins.

Each of these cities is also famous for the spectacular melas or fairs held. �e seven religious cities are within India's territorial ambit and pilgrimage to these places greatly enhances the unity of the nation, in spite of its linguistic and cultural diversity.

�is is one of the world's oldest continually inhabited cities, and one of the holiest in Hinduism. Pilgrims come to the ghats lining the Ganges to wash away sins in the sacred waters. �is city is known by various name like Varanasi, Banares or Kashi. Varanasi is a city which exists in a perfect balance between their ancient and modern civilization. Banaras is a city which is the oldest continually inhabited place in the world, yet seemingly timeless in a curious way.

Varanasi is also home to over hundred ghats located along the banks of the Ganga. By day, these ghats witness frantic activity of devotees wanting to take a dip in the holy waters and by evening, these ghats turn into a magnificent spectacle of lights - it is here that the Ganga aarti is performed in the evening. the scene of pilgrims doing their devotions in the River Ganga at sunrise set against the backdrop of the centuries old temples is probably one of the most impressive sights in the world.

Over the years, the city of Varanasi has earned several sobriquets, 'the city of temples', 'the city of lights' and the 'city of learning'. No wonder then, Varanasi is home to several temples, however, most of these places of worship were destroyed by pillaging Muslim armies of Mahmud of Ghazni and Mohammad Ghori.

Varanasi has its own airport, the Babatpur airport, that is about 25 km from the city centre. �e city is well connected by rail and road with other cities in India.

How to reach us By AirVaranasi has a domestic airport which is Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Regular flights connect Varanasi to some of the most important cities in India. From airport it is approximately 1hr 15mins drive by car. You can hire regular taxis or app cabs from the airport.

By TrainVaranasi is well connected by rails to some of the prime metropolises of India. Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai as well as several other Indian cities are linked to it. �ere are trains traveling to and from the stations of these cities either to the Mughalsarai Junction or the Varanasi Junction, also known as Varanasi Cantonment. From both these junctions it takes approximately 30 mins to reach Saptapuri.
