Weekly Teaching: There are four significant moments in the Mass when we

are asked to listen to God the Father speaking to us in his Son Jesus. The first moment is in the Penitential Rite at the beginning of the Mass. We are asked to reflect upon our sinfulness, acknowledging our sins, and to open ourselves to the mercy God the Father wants to give us. The second moment is before the Opening Prayer of the Mass where we call to mind our own needs, to “collect” our intentions. That is why this prayer is called the Collect. Thirdly, following each scripture readings, we are invited to allow God to touch our hearts in the silence, to allow His words just spoken to sink deeper into us. We are also invited into a longer period of silence after the homily, allowing Jesus to speak to us through the words of the priest who has just broken open the Word of God and how it applies to our lives. Finally, we are invited to be silent after communion so that Jesus who is present within us can truly speak his words of love to our hungry hearts. This silence throughout the Mass is essential to our truly entering into the dialogue of Jesus and his

loving Father.

My God, possess me that I may become a fit instrument of your graces and mercies to the souls you have confided to my care. If you know that success will make me vain, do not, on that account allow me to fail. Humble me in some other way, but do not punish me through those you have confided to me.

My heart is pierced with sorrow when I hear of the loss of one of my sheep. Lord Jesus, have mercy. Permit not that any one of those whom you have entrusted to me should be lost. O my Jesus, I will pray, fast, suffer, and, with the help of your grace, sacrifice life itself.

O Lord, imbue my words with power and healing that they may glorify the truth. As for myself, I am fully

satisfied with the labors assigned to me in your vineyard, for I came here to atone for my sins and to win souls for God. Nowhere can a better opportunity be found for doing good. May God grant me the grace to discharge my duties in a worthy and fruitful manner. .

O my Jesus, though I am poor in so many ways and so ignorant, I have been chosen as a shepherd to your sheep. Give me an ever-increasing love for those souls redeemed by your Precious Blood, that I may labor at their salvation in wisdom, patience, and holiness.

Grant that not one of those you have confided to me may be lost through my fault. O my Jesus, help me to sanctify those committed to my care. O holy Mother of my Lord, pray for me and for those in my vineyard. Holy guardian angels of these dear ones, teach me how to act toward them so as to be able to instill into their hearts the maxims of faith and true love of God. Lord, teach me how to live and, if need be, to die, that all may be saved, that all may love and praise you throughout all eternity, that they may also love and cherish your dear Mother. From St. John Neuman's Diary Do you have an hour a week? We need cleaning Angels to come in

and help with some of the weekly cleaning of your parish home and church. Do you have an hour a week you can give at your convenience? We have a list of things (like straightening books in pews, washing kitchen counter-tops/tables, dusting hall blinds, windows etc.) that need to be done and we have only have one volunteer trying to do it all. Contact the church office for details. Thank-you Barb Hight, Deb Palmer, Aimee Nickolas & Letisha Pederson for volunteering to help! Please kneel down after Mass and say three hail Mary’s

for the next person from our parish to pass away.

Funeral Committee needs 2 extra people to help set up for funerals-usually takes under an hour-please call Sherri –223-2176 (office).

Todays Gospel: Peter asks if this parable is meant for the apostles or for the large crowd that has gathered to listen to Jesus. Without answering Peter's question, Jesus responds with another parable about servants awaiting the return of their master. It begins with a question: “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?” This parable adds to the theme of watchfulness; it explains how to wait and reminds us of the reward for the faithful follower at the heavenly banquet after the judgment. If it is addressed to the apostles, then it could also be addressed to leadership in the early Church. Either way, the parables reminds us that we should be found doing our jobs when the master arrives. If we are doing our jobs, our reward will be great. But if we relax, neglect our duties, and begin to act like the greedy rich man—eating, drinking, and making merry—we will not have a place

in the kingdom. Watchfulness means living in such a consistently mor-al and obedient way that we are always ready to give an account to God of how we have lived.

Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self, Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit.

To Ministers of the Holy Eucharist In this Year of the Eucharist, it is

good to read, pray and renew our love of the Lord while serving the Lord's Body and Blood at Mass. Please take the page on the front pew.

Human Trafficking and the Sturgis Rally

Did you know that in the US the three largest human trafficking events in the nation are the Super Bowl, US Open Golf Tournament and the Sturgis Rally? According to Becky Rasmussen with calloffreedom.org South Dakota has more

convictions for human trafficking than any other state!

St. Josephine Bakhita is considered to be one of the Patron Saints for victims of slavery and human trafficking. Please consider praying for the intercession of St. Josephine Bakhita, for those who

are victims of the Sturgis Rally.

St. Josephine Bakhita, you were sold into slavery as a child and endured untold hardship and suffering. Once liberated from your physical enslavement, you found true redemption in your encounter

with Christ and his Church.

O St. Bakhita, assist all those who are trapped in a state of slavery, Intercede with God on their behalf so that they will be released from their chains of captivity. Those whom man enslaves, let God

set free.

Provide comfort to survivors of slavery and let them look to you as an example of hope and faith. Help all survivors find healing from their wounds. We ask for you prayer and intercessions for those

enslaved among us. Amen

The Right Turn is sponsoring a family friendly activity during Trader Days and we were hoping you would share this with the area minis-ters.
